I had to step out during the final Hockey Game but this was a very historical game. I forget when the last time that Canada and United States were within the finals. I had felt since the beginning that this was the only area in which there would be a gold won by Canada. But they did, it's all within the name of sport and I had to run to a confectionery and both on the television as well as on the intercom all you could here was this final Hockey Game. Was it close. It was very close. Both did a tremendous job. Crosby and Nash where something else from Team Canada and when I turned over the the Canadian network, you could see all the celebrities from Hollywood at the game and right now as I am just finishing supper, they are broadcasting all the troops that are within Afghanistan. I guess I am proud and from cost to cost across Canada and within other nations there are people that are smiling with regards to these games. But Hockey was the finality of the sports and not only are the streets in Vancouver celebrating, many are with regards to these games. The games are over and this was all too good. It's interesting how so many have watched this and I don't think anyone walks away as an athlete or an ordinary person that can't feel this was something.
Canada won the most in Golds - but everyone won. As it's all within the manner of the sport.
Now to conclude all of this will have to wait for another day but I am going to place on all the links that I have placed on here since the inception of writing on these games and then thereafter write afterwards on how I see this all. I truly have enjoyed this, not because I live within Canada, but for what it all stands for and as well not in defence of the games but I have yet to know what I will write. But I shall. The first stage will be placing in here all the writings that were wrote. As follows below:

Congratulations Team Canada... a great final match!
ReplyDeleteEveryone won really. Mind you many Canadians certainly from Newfoundland all the way to British Columbia are tremendously pleased and I think that this was really a historical match. For myself, I am looking forward to the cermonies as the first drove me into these games.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the participating countries, but much goes to Canada, Jack, for a wonderful job done and for all the players who did their best.
ReplyDeleteCeremonies have just began.....yes I believe all won. Canada is a rather humble country it's very hard to explain the ceremonies are on and Tom Brokaw somewhere within these writes I posted a utube of what he had mentioned on Canada. It was so precise.
ReplyDeleteI have read that Jack :)
ReplyDeleteYou have summerized very well Jack. These have been two exciting weeks. Will listen to Neil Young now, and I guess tomorrow we will get back to reality with all that is going on in the world as these games end. It is not that we are not aware, nor that we do not care, I think that we have simply chosen to make a parentheses for a moment. A good week to you all.
ReplyDeleteThis is a big win for everybody, I agree. I was a bit disappointed, but I'm happy the Canadians won't be tempted to launch "The Hockey War". :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are home again now. We got here before dark thankfully and the house was chilly but it was 2 above so couldn't complain. We left my sister's in Chilliwack, outside of Vancouver at the 16 minute mark of the 3rd period, and there is no radio in the Fraser Canyon. We had to wait until we got home to talk to a neighbour who was still vibrating with excitement. She was actually trembling and she is British!!!!!
