The 2010 Winter Olympics

For myself, last night I found that these games were certainly one of the best that I have seen in some time. I literally have never followed the winter Olympics not have I played Hockey or many of these winter games - however some that have been on here do know that I was raised in United States and as well Canada. So I guess like coffee you could call me "half and half". But the all in all the ceremonies where something that certainly have brought about an identity that I have never seen the likes of before within Canada. I watched the games from both an NBC as well as a Canadian Channel as I wanted to see if there was any differentiation between the two. The only think that I could see what that NBC closed of one hour early, while the rest of the closing ceremonies continued. I myself and not all that familiar with all the dignitaries but there was the leader or the IOC and as well the English white haired man that I found that they really touched on some things that really truly represented Canada well. I was glad to see that there was a remembrance of the young lad from Georgia as within every game or anything within life - there can be something that does go wrong and a death is something that really isn’t good. I am sure there will be further investigations with regards to this but yet. When I look at it all and then the admission of the problems that were mentioned several times within the closing ceremonies, I think that one could pick so many areas, yet I do believe this was a time that certainly Canada came into it's own. What I mean is that this polite manner mixed with a very heart felt way coupled with a new patriotic manner that within a Canadian way is something I feel really was touching even newscasters from around the world that were interviewed on the Canadian channel had indicated that they never knew Canada was like this.  All in all Canada placed on Olympic Games that were not entirely perfect - but if you ask me they were the best games that I have seen. There has always been this certain thing with regards to Canada with respect to what Canada is. And I find that it really came out. As far as the games, they were done as best under the circumstances and I when a country hosts a games and when I factor out the certain areas that we can dig into. All in all, I think that these Olympics were probably one of the best as each and every person that was there for the most part enjoyed them beyond belief. Certainly Canada made history with the amount of Gold Medals, yet United States did as well with the amount of medals. But then again all the athletes that partook in the games really is a winner if you ask me. I had read a few blogs where there was mention that some had a resentment - the athletes that is and as well as the fans but I truly think there was more good that came out of this.
Canada illustrated what it is as a country. And the games didn’t come off without some problems, the weather you can't control but the course that the Georgian passed away on. It was and is the steepest as well as narrowest in the history of the Winter Olympics. In the next week I am sure there will be something that Canada does as will as the IOC. However, the games all in all were something very significant. There is not one thing that can go entirely perfect yet this one was really truly in my opinion something that really did very well. Not for just Canada but I think if we had the chance to ask all the athletes that competed they would feel that this was something very unique.
For myself, I really was interested in two things - the opening ceremonies, the speed skating, some of the figure skating, and as well how a city really opened the eyes of many Canadians as well, fostered something that I am sure will be remembered for some time.  I really don't care what the media has to say but it was truly on of the most excellent Winter Games regardless of who won. To me every athlete won. I think they are trained in that manner and they all enjoyed this as many others did as well. I was going to pick a few things but rather than doing that after listening to the speeches I think enough was said as it paralleled with so much of what I would say with respect to the entirety of the game.
As well for those that did make there own mentions on my blog I do thank you. Some watch them and some don't. For me there are some things that I do believe we should continue - the Olympics are one of them. And maybe just maybe, you would think that there might be a change in some areas especially within the amount of monies that are placed into it. Yet the way I feel is that this is something good in times that we have seen so much with regards to on going wars. You would hope that it enlightens as well as brings many countries together at least to some extent.

  4. There are many things that one could write with regards to these games but I do think that those that were watching them enjoyed them. And something happened within this country. John Furlong said it very well but I can't find his writing on here but everyone is a winner. And Canada did it's best within these games.

Sympathy as well for the family of the Georgian who was killed and his country that grieves this loss. I think all good men and woman all over grieve with them as it was tragic.
