Question of the Week ?

Are we people that write and place things on that interests us or are we merely self promoting, and merely not really reading peoples writes but just quickly answering them in order to self promote?

Just a thought/question on a holiday Monday here.

  1. I guess that depends on the individual. I personally can't go to every person's blog but I do go to the ones that interest me and out in my two cents from time to time...have a great day!

  2. Same here I can't get to all but I never look to self promote, nor keep adding people but the common and some un common areas I find to be most interesting Dannette. Hey thanks as I just got this idea when I read your "Question of the week", it's a great idea.

  3. I read most everything. I like reading. I am a learning addict.A teacher in 4 th grade told me I was too dumb to learn. No one ever got the chance to tell me that until yesterday. and that made me sad.People need to remember that words can be swords that wound. Promotion? Maybe some people do. I feel its impolite to visit a blog and not say anything, but i have . If it is the second time visited it that day I will not post again unless i have something to add.

  4. Self promoting or not i read them all. But i could easily tell-tale signs if one is into promoting ... and there's a lot here.

  5. I literally as well read every blog. There are ones that I will not understand and then I wont make any mention pertaining to it. Tee, that is all decent, don't get me wrong I enjoy this, but it's ironic when one adds people or how they do. I guess that is why they call it multiply. :) Yet I enjoy it, and I do much the same as you do.

  8. Milli, I am well, things are actually going very fine with my recovery since the accident. I hope by next week to be in the gym - phase two I guess. Yeah we do not get to everyone's blog, Mills, I know that without a doubt, but you read this before commenting. There is the difference. We don't get to everyone's blog or it would be work, but I would like to think that we do read others without a "hopscotch". :)

  9. I'll confess to reading a lot of blogs without always leaving a comment. I always read it through, and almost always read through any and all comments as well before I'll post my own. If I don't feel I have anything further to contribute, or add to the discussion, then I may not post at all. Sometimes it's because I don't feel informed enough about a subject, other times it's because my thoughts have already been expressed several times by others. Sometimes I just don't know what to say....
I don't mind people reading mine without commenting, and rarely check to see who has looked at them.....to each his/her own is my position, it's not going to change my life one way or the other.

  11. It never enterd my head about your question self promoting, i write a poem most every day and enjoy doing so, all my poetry then gets published into poetry books , why not, better than they not get read at all.I get great pleasure from writing and more pleasure from sharing my poetry too, love to read all comments and get alot of inspiration from it, without the support of my wonderful friends on multiply i do not think i would have continued.Have a great new week Rosie. One more thing, i visit lots of blogs daily and read their posts , i love doing this too.x

  12. If I visit, I usually do read, unless something drags me off before I do. I maynot leave comments if I dont have anything to say....I cant get to everyone's blog everyday so there are days I make it a point to visit someone I havent visited for a while.

  13. There is nothing wrong with a little self promotion if you have added something of value and interest to another person. It isn't necessarily a negative thing. I don't mean self promotion in a conceited way. Let me explain , there are people who write to attract a crowd and may add drama to jazz up a story or are about being noticed by a large number of people. I'm not interested in the amount of people who may read something and if I need drama forget it. My life is pretty ordinary but even so drama comes for most of us without having to invent it and often when you don't want it. It just depends on how you define self-promotion. I enjoy peoples input and comments when they are able but I understand perfectly that not everyone has the time always to read my blogs but that is fine as well. I don't always have time to read and comment and sometimes I read without commenting if I don't really know how to respond or have adequate time.
I prefer for the most part to keep things light. I am here because I love to write and photograph and I feel my life is enriched by what I read that other's post as well and so often appreciate their heart felt comments and encouragement. I dare say most of us enjoy that . I hope I said that right :)
So it's not just self promotion although being genuine and reaching out to others does bring about the best in others as well.

  15. Great question, Jack! On a personal level, I give a lot of thought upon replying to a blog. I don't just read the blog, I "LISTEN," and think about what the writer is saying, and my comments are more often than not, based on my personal experiences and/or feelings about the subject being discussed. I love the exchanging of opinions, thoughts and feelings. Conversely, when I (occasionally) write a blog, it's always about something that is important to me, and hopefully to others. I love the exchanging of different experiences, thoughts, opinions, and feelings! :)

  16. As I want my blogs to be read , I try visit the blogs of my friends as much as I can. Some are related with interior affairs of the country of the writer then I dont comment Jack.

  17. It's interesting how we all do this. I find that it's all a neat and everyone has there own way. There are many times I am won't know what to respond with so I will just leave it but it's all good.

  18. Actually this morning at as it's a holiday here I thought I saw something that caught my eye by way of a Dannette. And it was something that I thought it was a themed question to do now and then. You must there Rosie I balance it all out and do it within the same way. I love the poetry and the pictures, and the thoughts that come especially on a topic within the eve.

  19. Rashmi within the night I love this. Literally. At the end of the day I find that it's all to enjoyable. Mind you I have facebook where I am trying to slowly understand it, but I am not much of a multi tasker here. I am much like you with respect to this. Yet I usually keep it all within friends of friends. And try to do that reciprocating effect. Not because I have to cover everyone, I just enjoy within the time that I do have to get around to those that are relative.

  20. Like wise here Cheryl, yet there have been some new people that I will look to see what there blog is about and then I will either send them an invite but I am happy with how things are set up right now. I do like that friends of friends and the mention of the multiply, well I am fairly decent at understanding how things work. I don't feel the need for self promotion I just enjoy this as you know.

    The shovel was symbolic :)

  21. Maryanne, I do give allot of thought through out the week with and you have hit a very interesting area. I don't know how many really do read the blogs. A person only has so much time within their time, that I literally will read it over a few times and sometimes come back to it. The exchange it what I truly find very interesting. I myself am a daily writer, usually sometimes in the eve I may write more than one, yet I do get to others and I do literally read them - if I can relate with them - I will write something. This is a very worthwhile mention here that you made, as some will do that skim and move on to build up there own presence. That pretty much hits the nail on the head as I have literally taken a regard to those that are on my blog. They don't have to agree with me but I certainly love to share the experience.

  22. this is my way of thinking too,lol when i do decide to write.wishing you a good week

  23. Fatos last night as it was a holiday here I thought I would spend more time - it really does get to be contagious as I enjoy it. There are those times where you have that choice to either watch a movie or actually read and as well write. I went about updating this Olympic blog that I posted and believe it or not it took about an hour. I tried to place on as many different Olympic sites from different countries. You will see there is even Turkey in there. Yet it became tedious however what I was trying to do was show the cultural diversity - I kid you not. :) As well, there are times that I have not been to everyone's blog but there is only so much time within the day/night. When the time hits around 11pm. I usually am off here. Who doesn't enjoy the writes and I know that I have wrote many I guess it all depends on the evening and I just unwind and groove into this if you will as I really start with my own, then I will see what others are writing. So it's within a flow for me. I am writing in what I enjoy. As I do. It's all an interesting experience to say the least. More often than otherwise. It's all within a sincere respect. But just like life itself, you can only do so much within a given time period of a day. Secondly as I am sure you know I despise the time zones.

  24. Parrie, Amorevita/Maryanne is someone that is just very interesting. A recent add and a very great one. Here I go again there are some that are just all to interesting to say the least.

  25. Danette this morning I literally thank you as it's a very neat theme to do and I thank you for allowing me to take this question of the week. It's very interesting to say the least. If it wasn't for reading these, I would have never have done it. I can believe it as you do have a manner that you do it so well. It's like a newspaper weekly.
Thank you and not promoting you nor are you!

  26. Hmm, that is a good question Jack. I cannot talk for others but, for my part honestly, when I go to a page, it is because I want to read what has been posted or see the pictures or video that is featured, then share thoughts or simply show that I am thankful for the opportunity to see something I might not have discovered by myself.

  27. So true Danielle...it is in a sense a discovery.

  28. I just write so I can save it as a Journal later for my grandchildren. Talking to my contacts on the side is just an added bonus. It is not about me or you, just a log of our days for my family's future generations to ponder about and/or ridicule. I am already "older than dirt". But, like you, I enjoy writing and always kept Journals even before we had the Internet to make it easier. What I miss is adding in little sketches of things I drew to illustrate an episode. I am not a great artist but still it was fun.

  29. I enjoy to read the blogs ppl write and answer accordingly, that why I have only a few friends so as I can get around to their pages, blogs and comments

  30. I don't get to all of my friend's blogs every day and sometimes not at all during the week, but when I do visit I read the whole blog or watch the clip etc. I may or may not leave a comment, sometimes I will simply say thank you.
