He is one of those people that has been writing for the last 40 years and there was a special that I was watching on television the othernight and I found that the various people that were making comments on whom he was and how he really is more than just an icon as he can do something that not only we all can relate to but there is some devine intervention.
This tour was called the "US" tour which meant "all of us". And I found it to be something that I not only enjoyed but was watching something that surpassed music. As all ages could relate and the lyrics that the Beatles as well as Paul - were something that I do find that many were inspired by.
And when you have a tour that goes to so many countries and in every land the people are singing the words. There is something it touches upon.
One of the best writers, a popular icon of music of the last century.
ReplyDeleteTHERE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE a PHENOMENA LIKE the BEATLES! EVERYTHING WAS in PLACE, FOR JUST the RIGHT GROUP, WHO MET AT the RIGHT TIME! THERE MUSIC TRANSCENDED & BECAME BIGGER THAN the FOUR PARTS! PAUL is a LIVING LEGACY of THE SOUNDTRACK of OUR LIVES.
ReplyDeleteYes I am not that used to placing these on here but we all can relate to these songs. I think that many share so many of the lyrics or at least one that has bonded friendships, relationships of all kinds. I remember during this show how families came together to see him. No other musician that is still alive has been able to do that type of musical intervention all over the world and still be alive!
ReplyDeleteYour right and I am sure you saw this show that I am talking about. And I believe it is more than just the beatles. I think it surpasses that. Who else has been able to do this musically for 40 years and be apart of so many people's lives in some fashion. We will hear a song and once in a while how many people will start to sing it to themselves. It's really very amazing and I love it. It's music and more. I think he shows the commonalities between so many of us within his lyrics.
ReplyDeleteThank you dropping in...
I think we can all remember where we were either meaning a place or where we were in our life by listening to a McCartney song. Some of it was before I was into music at all, (Beatles, mop top days), in high school (post yellow submarine days), college (Wings), and from there on in.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing him perform (on TV) for the superbowl, and there were so many young kids in the audience. They have NO idea who he is, and how popular he is, Paul just has a whole new audience!
I've always wondered, just how popular the Beatles (and Wings) would have been if we had MTV back then and the Internet. They just ruled the airwaves, can you imagine if they had MTV, Internet, IPODS, etc...back then? Insurmountable imagination to realize how big they could have gotten.
No one can touch Paul McCartney in my eyes.
Shame his second wife was so lousy to him.
~ Good morning would you like a "cup of tea"? ~
ReplyDeleteKath he does have an entire new audience and I have always believed that the lyrics of especially a group and a man that surpassed time would sometime be studied in university english classes. Especially the lyrical content. I think, perhaps I could be wrong, but in 1973 when they broke up and never came back as a group - it might be the best thing that happened. It's just my own opinion as there was always the excitement that they may have a reunion but it never took place - and then it was realized that in no way would it ever take place after John's passing.
I can't imagine ipods and the internet, nor MTV, but as a group in the late sixties I remember watching on television some song in which they actually did make a musical video. Go figure.
And then the great old 45's in Orange and Yellow from Decca Records.
Was a shame his last wife but his first one Linda, whom hailed I believe from New York as a photographer was a great lady and I think perhaps even a older gent as Paul was on the rebound but the personal life was not of worth, what he wrote about is what I think makes something Divine as he bridged that gap - with something that we all could relate to as ordinary people.
G'day Jack.
ReplyDeleteThe Beatles arrived in Melbourne in 1964 and I dragged my new husband into town to stand among the screaming masses in the hopes of getting a glimpse of this Fab Four, that had whipped our youth into a frenzy with their wonderful catchy music & youthful good looks, we got to see four dots up on top of the Hotel roof and the crowd went wild, but alas Paul was not with them ( we couldn't tell from ground level), but they had a temp replacing him for a while, but we saw the Beatles & thought we were Christmas lol
~ Good Day Sunshine~ Wendy, That was or must have been just before they came to America. A hotel roof, I am thinking about what Kath said and one thing they influenced the style at that time. You were one of the young ladies screaming and in ~ Luv ~ :).
ReplyDeleteI think that this person's reply says it all. Amen. I completely agree.
ReplyDeleteGday Jack,
ReplyDeleteIt really was the most exciting time, nothing like it had ever come to Aus before, here is an excerpt from the Beatles archive......As the rest of the group arrived, the number of fans had grown to 20,000 and the police to 400, with literally thousands of fists banging on the glass panels that comprised the front of the Southern Cross Hotel. John, Paul, George and Jimmy used a more secretive entrance into the hotel, and within minutes they and Ringo were rushed to the first-floor balcony, in an attempt to draw the fans away from the glass doors of the hotel. John was later reported as calling it "The greatest reception we have received anywhere in the world."....there it was and the pop scene has never been the same hahahaha
Good evening Jack. Nice songs which I did not really know. I had the pleasure of listening to his music a few days ago for the collection of CDs I have bought contained the Wingsspan hits and history set. This man is an exceptional writer and from what we have seen of him when he came to Quebec for the 400 anniversary celebrations, he seems to be a real gentleman. Thanks for sharing those two cheerful songs. It is fun to see people of all ages on the videos.
ReplyDeleteThat is a story within it's self. My brother met Paul in New York and he has a picture of him with Linda. And as well he saw them when Paul had the group called the Wings. Beatlemania during that time really did change the world and I can't think of any musicians that were not influenced by them. Too interesting Wendy. Thanks for sharing that story! I have met someone I forget when - but he was from liverpool and he used to watch them in the old tunnels before the "mania" took of from Germany. As that is where they really became stars, but I have never had an encounter as such, just imagine if it took place now? No lets leave it where it was and appreciate it for what it was - and is still alive. With two of them still left Ringo and Paul. I do miss John and George.
ReplyDeleteDaniel he is. John and him wrote together and then they went there own directions. Paul is a writer that is so different to what the ordinary writer is, he writes in a manner that is not hard to understand and for one that is a living icon and has really what I see as some musical divine intervention that someone like Bono would love to be. Paul is just Paul. He is not full of himself, that seems to be what has kept him going all these years. I looked for these videos as just a few nights before I watched the special on television - and it literally blew me away when periodically you would have musicians talk about him, Presidents, Scientists, and it was a special that I had never seen the likes of. And I do think that man does stand for peace. Not in the same manner as John did. He does it as you say just like a gent.
ReplyDeleteYour starting to become your own writer and guitar player. So maybe you will have your own version of something in your own way within the future.
I love the one song on here "Good Day Sunshine". As first and foremost he started off as a left handed bass player and I love the rhythm.
Thank you Danielle...
