~ The Rocket Man ~

 

She packed my bags last night pre-flight
Zero hour nine a.m.
And i'm gonna be high as a kite by then
I miss the earth so much i miss my wife
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight

And i think it's gonna be a long long time
Till touch down brings me round again to find
I'm not the man they think i am at home

Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone


 

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did
And all this science i don't understand
It's just my job five days a week

And i think it's gonna be a long long time...

    Always loved this one of Bowie's. Something poignant about it...my husband always identified with the song for some reason. Odd considering he's now lost (out there somewhere) to Dementia...

    I know and I remember you saying - and I am sorry with that ....the song I layered over another verion but it's Elton John's while singing, I did the " ground control to major tom" which is from David Bowie. You have a great grand son there GA...! Great wishes to you from Alberta to Georgia go your way.

    Thank you Wendy it's 10:49pm here and I am just about to watch a show thereafter as it's a holiday monday here. When I saw the pictures of the geese there on your site and the way that you made it into a poem for one to decipher from I thought it was great. Everyone can sing and it really is a universal thang. :) Thang = thing just with a tad of an Aussie accent if you know whot I mean. :)
