Canadian Pork

Canadian pork producers contend that thousands of jobs and billions of dollars are at stake because of the swine flu.  Ten countries have banned Canadian pork products since the virus was found on a central Alberta pig farm. China specifically banned pork from Alberta.

Quite often the apocalypse was triggered not by weapons of war, global famine, or alien invasion, but by a virus for which there was no antidote.  Maybe we’ve seen too many of these Hollywood creations that quite often use real-life TV news networks, anchors, and reporters in the movie to add that touch of realism, as in, “this could really happen”.  For the past week or so, it seems that the lead story on English-speaking television newscasts from Canada, the U.S., and Great Britain is about the swine flu scare coming out of Mexico.  The situation is analyzed in minute detail and the

word pandemic is tossed around like a frisbee.

Who knows what's going on....I don't.

  1. It's silly. I read that they slaughtered thousands of pigs in India? Indonesia? Somewhere like that. A bit of an over reaction, don't you think?

  2. In getting on this I looked into the news and it's so surprising and I usually write on something other than this but when I read the news gosh it took me by surprise and I am no reporter nor with to be on here. I like to write on a variety of things.

The one thing I do know is that it's placing the medical area especially general practicioners in a tight spot. Just my thought...

  3. The whole things like a really silly overreaction to a virus that's no different from the flu that hits many people everywhere. In fact the confirmed cases here were well again in a week or less and yet the "what ifs" keep getting discussed and acted on. People who aren't sick are being made to take medication and to me the whole things sounds like it's made up by the Pharmaceutical companies who are desperate to sell something, anything by now!

  4. I do think so...as this is really what I was meaning as I think we could worry about so many things and when it comes down to it, I like to look at the other sides of things, while reading some valid news. It's valid but there is much more to it and I am not thriving on this. It's the first time I could read some things on here.

    It's a tangle of sorts.

  5. It may soon pass away just like other scares such as SARS, Salmonella, etc.

  6. There have been a few cases in NC and SC. For the most part, business haven't been affected in this area but schools are on alert...they may close down.

  11. Yeah I knew the owner of a company called Mitchell's Foods...
Last year they closed up and as they did not meet inspections but somehow this got through.

Simple seems to be the manner and way. I really get so turned off right now with regards to the news and for the most part. In various countries.

I think that someone should come up with a television idea.
    Good News. :)
