Obviously there are many mothers here and they will be celebrating with there children this weekend. I have always maintained that mothers are the foundation of families. They bring children into this world and regardless anything. Mother’s seem to have that connection and bond with their children. I does not bare no age, it’s something that stands the test of time.
Some may be happily married, some may be raising their children on their own. Regardless of any situation a mother is that foundation that I truly believe encompasses so many things with how there children turn out to be.
I thought it would be appropriate to post this and wish you and yours the best during this weekend. Happy Mothers Day too those of you that are out there...
Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,
Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me
With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,
Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,
And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.
For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

ReplyDeletea beautiful sentiment jack, thank you. truly being a mother has brought the greatest joy to my life. and setting my children free was the hardest thing i ever did. still i hang as close as i can and relish in the extension of my grandchildren_ an added joy unspeakable. i celebrate mother's day with pride and always let them know that they are what makes my mother's day a happy one. bless you.
ReplyDeleteSalaam!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog and thanks for the congrats!
Mothers (women) have great affection and this makes them a very powerful creature in the universe.
Happy Mothers Day!
Best wishes brother!
couldn't hold my tears from this line "slowly stepping back..." because as a mom, that's exactly how i feel every moment i'd sincerely sense that's it's time for my babies to set free! it's a tear of joy mixed with sadness from missing your babies who they were in your arms, so fragile, so meek, so small, that you're the only world they have and purely know ...
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this, friend! my children are now all grown up ... my daughter just graduated in college; my eldest son is now working with his father; and my youngest son just graduated in high school ... as their mom, little do they know how much i miss them in my arms when they were my babies! God bless you ...
Very true Mothers are great. Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers.
ReplyDeleteNice poem. We should be grateful to mothers who bring up their children into fine men and women.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteOh, mine know! I am unable to not express this constantly, in an email, on the phone, when we are able to visit! I take every opportunity available to pull them into my arms, hold their head on my shoulder, and whisper how much my heart still beats with love for and pride of them, just as it did when they were first born. They may be grown men now, but they have been in my arms so many times over the years, they are accustomed, and comfortably offer their strong hugs in return.
ReplyDeleteMother's Day is a day to look back over the years and be proud of the children you mothered, and I am so very proud of mine, my heart could burst with the love and joy I feel....
My parents have passed on, but to them I am eternally grateful for having taught me the wonder of a parent's love. That gift above all else has taught me that love is enduring.
When I watch my children with their children, I feel the same boundless love, and think how wondrous that they too now know the depths of a parent's love for their own.
Shall do and Happy Mothers Day to you Parrie.
ReplyDeleteWell Lydia I thought it would be fitting and I wish you the best for this weekend as well as this day.

ReplyDeleteBrixy your children are all grown up yet despite that they never forget that bond that they have with you.
You gave them the tools and the passion to be whom they are.

ReplyDeleteSo true Carlos...I don't think that many take mothers for granted and I do believe this. Why not. Yet here it's not mothers day till tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI hope this works you brought them into the world and you taught them the tools and much more hence you set them on thier own path.
ReplyDeleteLotus may tomorrow be a great day for you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the gentle reminder of what transpired many years ago with my children :-). I set them free... free to be who they were, and I set myself free too, so I wouldn't encumber them as some Mothers do, I want to be there, but not tieing them to me... It has been a wonderful journey all the way to Great Grandchildren :-). May your Mother have a lovely Mothers Day Jack, and thank you for the poem :-). ((Hugs))
