H1N1 Virus Shots....

I thought I would take some time to give my own thoughts on H1N1...

As most of you know I reside here in Canada and have lived in both countries but recently here in Canada as with most countries we have run into troubles, I wish to give my own thoughts with this areas if I may.  Within Canada there is a tier system to  how this is being done. It's based on the H1N1 virus.

Week One: Medical Practitioners and children.

Week Two: The elderly and ones that are suffering from disorders.

Week Three: Everyone else.

One does not have to get the injections for the swine flu at the same time as the H1N1 injection. As most are trying to get all at the same time. If one is under the age of 45 - more than likely unless if you have a situation of some neurological matter or some respiratory matter. I would think that within week two which is this week coming up you do want to have the ONE injection thereafter within a month if you so desire get the Flu injection.

Most of this has been imported from outside of both Canada and the United States. I would think the best measures within all of this is not to jump to conclusion but to do it within the protocol from which your country has set up.

If you are of good health there is really no reason to get this injection, but I think that everyone is doing it as they are worried about the possibility of getting the virus. As rations are being made I think the best thing is to get it ONLY if you feel that you have immediate need of it and if you do have a jeopardized immune system.

Otherwise, I think that you shall far out well and this immediate need is for immediate people that do. The best measure is that if you do not fit into the category of immediate need.

Those that have great immune systems are not within immediate need. As here within Canada as like everywhere around the world right now there have been a limit to the amount that has been produced and it's only up to each and everyone of us to do ours as well.

After talking with a few specialized doctors over the weekend it is obvious that everyone should get this shot. But there is only so much at this time and lets make the rations work while they are currently being produced and made.

  1. Nice blog-my only problem is why is there not enough here or in Canada when in Europe there is enough sad state of affairs for both governments-

  2. I'll decline all flu shots. I'm allergic to them. Actually, I'm allergic to the preservative in them. Plus, what I have been reading lately, is that those who get the shots...well, they get the darned flu! I think a better option is to be proactive with one's health. Steer clear of coughing, sneezing folks, imbibe lots of Vitamin C, wash your hands with soap and water numerous times during the day, and just take care of yourself. Pray for the best. It seems to work as well as taking the darned flu shots! Besides, they're blowing this thing all out of proportion. Heck, every winter people get sick. They get the flu. What's new? Just be vigilant and safe.

  5. Of recent the eastern portion of the Canada has taken both at the same time the prime minister even came on the television to indicate that the porportions are not going to keep up as everyone and there own dog are going in and not following the protocol - as most of this is all imported here from China.

  6. Then, why is it that I can eat eggs till the cows (or chickens) come home and I don't have a reaction?

  7. Joyce I think that is the best manner. You have it right on the mark. So often people now are thinking the flu is H1N1 and there is a large difference.
Vigilance is the best way with this...

  8. I take the strongest anti -viral on the planet and have been for 4 years ..when co workers are missing a week of work due to flu symptoms I might have a dry throat for a couple days...if interested I will PM you a link

  9. The thing about this virus is that everyone thinks by way of media that it's a pandamic - I believe that it's good to take good measures but at the same time to exercise what one should do at the appropriate time - before anything happens as stated about Tess. Vitamin C is a great anit oxidant.

  10. You were a nurse Hiedi so you know this much better than I.
I am going to get it but I won't be till a month has gone by.

  11. Aren't swine flu and H1N1 the same thing?
They have started the shots here in Korea. I fall into the everyone else category even though I am teaching. I can't get a shot before January. Since I won't be here then who know if I can get i on my return in Feb. Time will tell.

  12. It's just a way for the drug companies to make more money. Geez, there's a drug for anything that ails you anymore. What the heck did people do a hundred years ago? Dang! People are so gullible sometimes.

  13. Dana what ever you wish I just know that this is a major concern to many people and two days ago I was going to write on it. if you wish sure...

  14. Joyce this is a situation of production I think more than anything else now before I felt the same way.

  15. Aww, come on, have you watched the TV commercials lately? Every week they come out with a new drug to cure a disease that they just made up. Then, they go on to list all the horrific side effects. Give me natural vitamins and old time practical living practices any day.

  16. Okay, so what's the difference.

Where I am H1N1 and Swine flu are considered the same thing. In fact, the name H1N1 came about as a result of the negative publicity pork was getting as a result of the name Swine flu.
Now, there is a second flu shot available, which is the "regular" shot for lack of a better word.....that's the Tamiflu shot.

  17. there are only two strains of flu virus...A and B...these shots cover both

  18. Joyce I did write this on the merits of speaking to one oncologist, two within internal medicine yesterday. I don't believe all that I see on television :)
Just being honest here. Natural is great. And seems to me that your within great health to have wrote all the books that you have as I recall along with another that I remember by the name of Clarey Lopez that back in the old days.....there was some real sincere good merit.

  19. They're all in it for the money...doctors, drug companies...whatever. I don't doubt you did your research. I just don't think it's as severe and widespread as the media claims it to be. Let's face it, people have been getting sick and contracting viruses for centuries. Our population has grown worldwide, people are traveling from one country to the next with greater frequency...it's bound to happen. You catch another's germs. I just think there's been way too much hype about this frickin' swine (H1N1) flu. But then...that's my humble opinion...

  20. Pennsylvania US, where I live, continues to place orders with the federal government for the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine for more than 4,000 pre-registered and certified providers in the state. However, due to the nationwide delay in the production of the vaccine, it is arriving in the state in very limited quantities. There are currently no public vaccination sites.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is recommending the limited vaccine doses for the following groups that are most vulnerable to being affected by H1N1:

    •Pregnant women
•Persons six months to 24 years old
    •Healthcare providers and EMS personnel
•Parents, household members or caregivers of children under 6 months
•Those under 65 with certain underlying medical conditions

Persons over 65 are NOT considered to be at risk for H1N1 complications

We also have a shortage of Seasonal (regular) Flu vaccine. That is the only vaccine I will be getting.

  21. Swine Flu (also called H1N1 flu, swine influenza, pig flu) is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus. The causitive organism is H1N1 Swine influenza virus (SIV). The flu is designated as H1N1 flu allover the world.

The 'H' and 'N' in the H1N1 stands for two proteins found on the surface of the virus: hemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N). All influenza A viruses contain hemagglutinin and neuraminidase, but the structures of these proteins differ from strain to strain, due to rapid genetic mutation in the viral genome.

and to joyce: its most likely a compound within the injection. my mother is allergic to any sorbose based products. sorbose is a chemical derivative of a natural source so even items listed as chemical or preservative free, can contain it as a natural sugar, a preservative, or an emulsifier. its most commonly listed as: polysorbate, sorbose, sorbitol, polysorbate, etc... and its a derivative of the mountain ash berry. which, ultimately, is probably what my mother is allergic to.

the FDA requires that all elements of the compound be listed by the manufacturer on their package insert. typically they are also on the webpage but if you really want to break it down, you can.

last.. our building did have a woman (and her daughter) come down with H1N1. both treated it from its first signs and stayed away from others. both came through without residual effect and felt it was just like "any flu". the key is to listen to your body.

  22. I'm so confused...no shot for me though

  23. You live in the state that I was raised in..but :)

Yeah it's very much the same here as just recently here within Canada we did have the Prime Minister come on across the nation and address this and then there was before there comes to being a shortage it was indicated as to how it is to be recieved nationwide. I am only going to get the H1N1 but I am waiting till a month from now.
    Thanks there Frani.....

BTW I loved your recent blog when I arrived home and I just arrived back in here.

  24. Suzy you are right on the mark with it. There is a large difference between the two strains.
I think that this truly has made such a worry to so many and I thank you for your post.

  25. I did not place too much weight into it till just or recent. It's confusing and I do believe Danette however I have not had a shot for anything and this year I will with regards to H1N1 - it's just to assure that all goes well. But I am no doctor nor in the medical field I was just writing based on a few doctors that I had talked to yesterdays date as I went into the hospital here.
I think those that stated there thoughts above really have spelled it out in a rather good manner.

  26. I've never gotten a flu shot ever...I do my best to take precautions so I agree with you that is best unless you have a weakened immune system..or other conditions where the flu could be more dangerous. My parents get flu shots but they are elderly and have medical conditions,,It doesn't always guarantee no flu though even with shots

    ReplyDelete
  27. Same here but this year I myself shall be getting one shot...

  28. Nice to hear some common sense about this program--people who are teenagers seem to be getting the flu at much higher rates, and some public schools have closed altogether or cancelled sporting events.

I'm told that by the middle of next month there will be enough vaccine available to meet the demand.

  29. Doug as we speak they are making it. I think it's all within moderation. Here in my city there have been a a few cases and it's an area that is really now causing many to have an alarm with and I was going to write on this yesterday but did not have the time.
Any areas that have many people seemingly are the places that there are cases that have started they have already here as you know this is a university town and is really the centralized area for all health matter for this province up here.

  32. I was safe from avian flu and swine flu, I guess because I ate a lot of vitamin C...high dosage....3000 mg per day It is safer since the residue can be out of our body through urine and sweat. Avian flu is more terrible than swine flu...and I see the victims in Avian flu in Indonesia was much higher now than what is happening with swine flu in US.

I do not believe they have serum or vaccine to avoid and cure it...since it is a virus. The best is your own immune system. Live healthy, eat good and clean food and avoid stress.

    ReplyDelete
  33. the shot is given so your immune system can build anti-bodies to fight it...if your immune system is weak guess what...Mankind cannot make anything to kill a virus...but nature does...when will people learn...and it isn't ''Vite C''

    ReplyDelete
  34. H1N1 is the so called swine flue or mexican flue no difference

    ReplyDelete
  35. Life yeah but there is a limit to how much Vitamin C the body will take and the rest goes ------------------------------- well lets just say we visit the restroom. :).
This was a very good discussion.

  36. I guess I will get both when or if the supply lasts :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. you will only get one H1N1 shot but you can et both the reg. shot and H1N1 shott at the same time no problem

  39. I had the"Hong Kong " flu back in November 1957, which if I understand it was H1N2 , I do not remember one week of my life because of it. So I am hoping that I have enough antibodies to keep me safe. Along with the fact I rarely leave my home and I disinfect everything possible in the home when anyone comes. If you go to doctor please do not touch magazines or newspapers. . They should all be removed, also all toys for children. Uof M discovered a vaccine for pigs so they do not get swine flu. It will be available within a month.

  40. But in case your body does not have strength to attack "a strange and strong virus"...Vit.C could do it for you. Logically, even when you already got the virus in your body, the vit C high dosage will help you to attack it so that your body wont be suffered worse. Vit.C boost your immune system and in the epidemic or endemic you need it. My experience where more than thousand people got infected and millions of chickens must be burnt then buried, just washing hands was not effective. You need other help to enhance your low immune system esp. when u r stress, sleepless and tired.
