President Obama is following through with most not all of what Pelusi had set out along with many of the major players in the Democratic Party. But seemingly, there are amendments that are being made and I think that Senator John McCain should have been brought into the bi partisan administration. I truly do believe that he has many things to offer along with Senator Clinton. The withdrawal plan will be starting on of before the beginning of the new month with 20,000 to 60,000 thousand troops coming back to their homeland. While at the same time, some are being dispatched to Afghanistan.
I had the time to do a few things today one of which was going to get a hair cut and meet up with a good friend of mine that I have known for the past the past three yeas. Wazid is his name and he came into Canada from Iraq. It took him 8 years to achieve what he set out to do. Then he brought his entire family. He had told me in previous times that we have spoken of his journey in getting out of Iraq and the long wait and hardship in obtaining the allowance to become a Canadian. He is a catholic and he speaks an English extremely well. We were talking today about the crisis in the world while I was having
my hair cut, and he knew I would get into this discussion of what he thought of the movement of troops out of Iraq and he said " Jack there is never going to be total peace there but if there can be some observance so that it does not return in being a haven for the radicals, then it's probably the best thing.” I asked him about the leader within Iran and in Afghanistan and he said that "the best thing that can be done is that all the main forces including United States should be in there as that is where they have shifted too.” I thought to myself about what Wajid was saying while he gave me this magazine of the March edition magazine, called the "Trumpet"
I asked him if I could take a picture of him. He was more than happy to but as we were doing this - his daughter came along and started tugging at my hand and she whispered in my ear, "I want to have my picture taken with too".
Well, what do you say to a beautiful child as this! A precious child I would thing around the age of five if not six years old.
So I took one picture and I thought to myself despite all the economics that have come out within the stimulus plan and what we are dealing with here – where did it all start and how unfortunate that was. I think you know what I mean.
How many children of her age have died over the last two terms of President Bush and President Dick Cheney. When we see someone within our own neighborhoods that have been tragically hurt it's a big thing. But here is something to really think about - how many young children have died in vain. There was another person there that picked up on our discussion and said “blame it on Bush”. Both Wazid and myself have talked on several things and we really did not get into all the finger pointing – past yadda of what was done by George and Dick, and I think that Wazid did not wish to mention on anything of this – not because he looks Iraqi, as he doesn’t. However I did make a small mention that if there is one man that will go down in history, as being one that opened up so many unfortunate things within the world it would be George. Then I thought to myself how many people when they are have their first son in these times would wish to name their new son George…Hmmm, thinking on that one. It just came to my mind.
Anyways…
I am fortunate in knowing Wazid, more so we both agreed on where the economy is at but I never mentioned to him what was on my mind as far as what has taken place over the last 8 years. But it did make me think about the women and children that were not able to get out of there and after leaving I mentioned to Wazid that he is a good man as he did something that could literally be a made into a movie.
The fortunate thing is that he has his own prosperous hair salon coupled most of all with a very good family. You could see that in the interaction of his young daughter. When I was leaving she came back to me with all smiles and asked when I would be returning. I told her that I would return when I have her favorite candy. She smiled, and he smiled we shook hands and I left and told her I would be back in three weeks.
That girl is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation.
ReplyDeleteI promise Ill write more later on, but here in Norway the time is 23:53 PM right now, so its almost bedtime for me.
Nice to meet you! Btw ; My uncle and great aunt lived in Wainwright, Canada - both dead Im sad to say. I have several relatives, but I havent managed to get in contact. Maybe I will get to it later, and try again.
promise to read this story here more carefully another day too - sorry!
Anne
I know of a number of ppl on and offline that have had to do a similiar thing. Refugees that slowly migrate to another country over a period of time and send for their family when they have established themselves. I really admire the integrity of them. They tend to be so family focused, that it puts many westerners to shame when they are quick to divorce over petty selfishness.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little girl! I'm happy to see the troops begin to leave Iraq. Although it's good that the likes of Hussain is no longer in power there, the war focus should have been elsewhere, imo.
ReplyDeleteThey look like nice people and no I wouldn't name my child George.
ReplyDeleteIsn't she I said "is she not just like within our own societies" but actually I made a slight mistake in my writing as I do not believe in labelling or prejudice.
ReplyDeleteBut she is and the story speaks for it's self, this was a part of my day today.
Hi and welcome Anne,
ReplyDeleteNorway is a nice place and as well I am glad that you took the invitation, I know your time is much different, and as well I wish to say that it was a terrible thing that happened with the 747 aircraft crash over there thank god that most of them all survived.I know where Wainwright is - there is a huge Air Force Base in there. Peace to you,
Jack
Yes and Wajid, did this but he went to Turkey first and had to wait for several years before he gain clearance to be able to be on the soil of Canada. I have seen many of these things happen in both Canada and the USA. My ex wife was from Colombia and there was something done in a different manner - but that is a different topic.
ReplyDeleteI admire the integrity. I have not come across the manner or marrying nowadays for the sake of being in a country, I think that are security is beyond that now. But this is a story on a man and his family from Iraq. The title is withdrawl and within the United States last night Obama made some choices and I think that most of the ones with regards to security and Iraq were what brought about my thoughts on this subject. Ironically today I went and got a hair cut and ran into a friend of mine that has a family that is like any other family.
I understand where your coming from...but I think that this has changed in most countries now. Where one can marry and automatically have the allowance to live in the land. Thank you.
Isn't she! She tugged at me and what a cutie, but the merit of the story is that three people from Iraq that I do know one in my offline life named Wajid, is for bring troops out. However, his story is one that I think I will write on at some later time. As we have had several discussions over the last three years.
ReplyDeleteBut I looked at here and thought about the past and what had been done in Iraq. But that was then I guess and now is now. Do we take things for granted om our society? That is a ponder...
As I was writing I thought about that while typing away as my middle name is George, but I don't think right now anyone really in these times would think of naming there son George. I really don't. As mentioned - not the party, nor the country of America created the things that have shape where we are today but a leader named George did - and he could have been from any country and he did much harm in the manner of handling international affairs.
ReplyDeletePeople are people regardless of where they come from but I think George would symbolize something...but I don't think he will be remembered fondly in the history of the United States as people are watching another man with an ideology and manner that is really a 360 of the past leader.
(Note If I may - George did not represent what we consider "we the people" as a leader of a great nation).
The child she was a real cutie and I know I do write on things that may be in some different fashion but in no means is it anti american. I promise you that!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are don't we take things for granted?
A beautiful child and a very handsome man... It's nice that his whole family could be with him :-). He has worked hard to get them, and keep them with him... Very admirable Jack :-). Yes, we in the US do take a lot of things for granted... unfortunate, but true...
ReplyDeleteThank you Peeks, I could just sit and thing for a little and write something on her she was a cutie. As for him he was just like you or me. I think in both countries we do take things for granted. It's a time that we are starting to feel things within the economy and other things so even in Canada as in the United States we all do take things for granted.
ReplyDeleteThese are grim facts. Thousands of dead children. Millions of refugees and displaced Iraqis.
ReplyDeleteA time will come when Americans will have to come to grips with the full legacy of what was done to Iraq based on a sale of a war through faulty and deliberately misleading intelligence. The proponents of the conflic (i.e., the Bush/Cheney supporters will always waive the downfall of Saddam as justification for this. ) But at what cost in human life. It reminds me of an expression used by a US military spokesman after a Vietnamese village was firebombed during the war over there--"It was necessary to bomb the village in order to save it." Let that Orwellian proposition stand for the legacy of Iraq.
Doug that does say so much I am not familiar with the Orwelian Proposition, but your point does come across. Thank you I have been waiting to see your next writing. And yes I guess it comes down to the facts that will remain. The cost is something I ponder as this probably was the thread that was the nucleus to all that has changed our world. For the time being.
ReplyDeleteawesome blog. really making me think. okay. I'm gonna leave your site now. Dont want to be considered a stalker or anything crazy like that. Just great to read on and converse with someone who has something to say.
ReplyDeleteJustJenna
It's been a pleasure. And for me I don't work with the messenger I just have multiply work on it's own. I think there can be difference made when we do give out our own thought within our own blogs or in reading and gaining an understanding with others.
