Simple Excursions

It was a much warmer day today, you could actually take in the sun and it went up to about 50 degree F.

I went with a friend to a place called Beaver Creek and it was to hours worth of walking. While we stopped into the main entrance, we were offered seeds, and decided not to take a bag with me. Then when we arrived back, there were so many small birds looking for something to eat that I wished I had taken up offer.

When returning to the main complex, I asked for some and I had this small little guy eating out of my hand. Too neat if you ask me. The snow was so high and the path back to my car was far too long. So one of the two people on offered us a lift in his cruiser.

Then there is one person or friend named Karyn that enjoys curling so much that I thought I would stop over to the Nutana Curling club and take a few pictures. I have never played the game, but it's a "very" Canadian thing as well it's played from what I learned on Karyn's blog - in Scotland - it's origins, as well as in parts of Australia, the United Kingdom and even in some other places.

I met the manager of the place and then I found a friend there curling and his name is Jack as well. So I was able to get a few pictures of this sport, but it was a great day as it was much warmer and you almost could lie out in the snow and get a tan...

It’s not tropical but it’s what it is…

  3. My glasses are transitionals and I was not sure if I had this little one, as he was sitting on a branch. Right to the left I got that rascal, one of many that were looking for food and then would take off when they saw that I did not have anything for them. These guys were not ones that like pictures being taken of them I guess. :) But I got that one.

  4. That must have been so cool, getting to get such a close-up look at the lil' guy!

  5. Are these wild ponies, or does someone own them?

  6. Just think in the evening... and for some reason what comes to me Norma is "late at night when the wind is still I will come flying through your door, and you'll know what love is for I'm a (well he/she isn't a blue bird)...:)

  7. I love it...it was a fortunate thing to finally get seeds. I don't know if it's sweet. It's nature...and all that comes with it.

  8. That must be from a poem. There seems to be all kinds of beliefs about birds flying into homes. I am not sure what kind of bird that is.
It looks similar to our snowbirds, except the color patterns are reversed.

  9. To the contrary Norma.
It was and has been a very warm afternoon, but the guy seemed to be saying "is this all you have?" :)

  10. Don't know I pulled over and there were many farms out this way but they seemed to be a mix. Yeah they were within the confines of a farmers acreage.

  11. Sounds like a wonderful outing and you got some terrific pics. You recall how we have been comparing parts of Virginia and Canada, in how they are somewhat similar in appearance?
Get this. There was a small community near where I grew up called "Beaver Creek." The similarities keep piling up.

  12. The red comes out like a frozen kiss within the other hues of white and grey.

  13. I was just curious about the ponies. They look similar to the ones I saw from the Assateague/Chincoteague Islands that are wild natives of the area. Only the ones in your pictures have a heavy winter coat.

  14. Grrrrrrr the weather peeps are calling for a winter weather watch for tonight/tomorrow here. Possibly heavy snow.
And it was sooo beautiful and sunny so very recently!
On the bright side, maybe I can get some snow pics of my own. Heehee, I'd be just as happy to look at your snow pics tho, lol.

  15. Way back I told you that I would get a picture of a place that looks just like a picture you had placed on your blog. This is that place - in the summer wait and see. I remember that time in which you had that picture on and I never had the chance to get out there back then - this spring I will. And they look almost exactly the same. It certainly does not look like Miami!

  22. There is a unique history between Scotland and Norway. I learned from Karyn's blog that it was from Scotland - I never knew that.

  28. Yeah from what I see there must be some group on multiple as so many had the subject case titled "Lines".

    ReplyDelete
  29. This "group" is Picture Perfect. They post a topic on Friday and invite us to post a picture related to the theme. I haven't been on for a while, but it's fun. I bet you would enjoy it. You can get the link from my page. There are probably 50 people or more that regularly post something. Check it out. You post the link to your page on their site for others to come and view your picture for that week.

  33. Looks like you had a wonderful day. Nature is very good to us.

    ReplyDelete
  34. We often I find that time out and to go out in nature is something whereby you can relate to those things while at the same time there is an appreciation with regards to what came to us by way of "mother earth". We look at so many things, and yet right next to us is that tranquility of nature. It's an assurance and validation of life - much like the original people that were on our lands before us there spirit and ways were much attune with nature.
Frankly, I rather than all the costly pleasures - the excursions within and on our lands are where peace prevails.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can understand your appreciation of nature very well.
I feel at ease completely when I take a trip now and then - with my camera and sometimes my dear dog Max - its medicine as good as any to experience the sounds and smells, taking your cup of coffee, and just be ........

    Thanks for those words.
    Anne

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sweet it was so trusting of you... you literally had its lil life in your hand.

  40. What an enchanting day you spent. It's the kind of day that makes one feel happy to be alive.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Smiling Mimi! I came back to this and you are tremendously fun, and witty.
I almost fell, going back up while they did not have the stairs all cleared off was more like walking up a mountain. But I did not hit my bottom. :)

  45. I was showing a family member yesterday and they thought I fixed the picture and then when I mention the place, known as Beaver Creek - then they realized that this is a haven for birds, small ones and it's one of those places that old people - well young at heart people go too :) to do bird watching.
You changed your icon image and right now as it's 5:50, I can't remember your name but I shall!

    A great week ahead...
