There Are No Secrets...

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. `Colin Powell

There are times in which each person has something that they place as something of interest. At this time in my life I find that there has been more things that have taken place in the hands of life. I have lived within only two countries, which I have always respected and had a large interest in. Of course there are people from other countries that I have met, but within it all this day was one that I really take pleasure in.

A few years ago I came to the conclusion that I would never return nor see other parts of America again. Now with the economy the way it is - I know that my placement is here within Canada, but I can't describe the feeling when you have lived your life on both sides of the border and understand the exceptional merits of countries. So who knows...

This morning I woke up early as I usually do, and I read the paper and turned on the television. I have one meeting to go to and I had missed what was taking place within this visit. I can literally say that within all the time that I have taken the time to learn about Canadian history, I find that it always encompassed United States.

Here we have two men that lead two countries in our modern day world. For myself, I find that this was truly an amazing day that goes beyond words. Regardless of the newscasts and the media, I am sure that there were some very natural discussions behind closed doors. I think about some of the people that I know that I lived with and ponder how they are feeling on this trip from an American vantage - while at the same time I can see from up here in the North, how it is. I am not sure where I am going with this but the collaboration of two leaders was something amazed me. I don't get that amazed to be honest with you. Within certain areas that is.

This is not my picture but I find that regardless of anything somehow within all of this - it was something very special. I am sure that it will illustrate this within the future as so often things don't come about overnight - it takes a little time.

If there is one prediction that I can offer with regards to this day. It's that economically we are going to see more organizations start up. Within United States there are several and in Canada there are some. The reason I mention this is that I think that there is going to be more of an outsourcing of community organizations - that assist while economies start to move slowly back. Canada does have a better banking system, and I do predict that that President Obama will be introducing some things in which some would consider socialized.

Regardless of all of that - this was a day that did have some worth. No country is better right now than the other. The ideal setting on this sphere right now is that there is that flexibility to have an open mind to new things.

I could go on but I think about United States and the efforts that are required to move back to where they belong. As well, I think about the areas in which Canada has to move to not falter. And then ironically I look at things from an international manner as I have always surrounded myself or have been around people from different walks of life and I think of this word called harmony.

In some manner there is the beginning of a good trend. And I hope we don't blow it.  When we look outside of ourselves and have a regard to other people by way of choice and think within the merits of humanity.

I think that is where we never do falter.

  1. Harmony will certainly be a very welcome change for both Americans and Canadians alike.

  2. Amen to that. As well it will be within the forcoming months for other countries. It's ironic that I moved from Edmonton, Alberta - as effectively yesterday due to the economy and the temporary situation with oil - Edmonton was Canada's largest and most productive city in Canada. For the first time in 15 years it has just went into recession. Nisku and the outer lying areas of Edmonton that I was so used to driving that drive with them as I was headed for the Airport - has laid off many oil related jobs.

Maybe this is a wake up call for all the world and mankind. Just maybe.

  3. I am not political, per se, but I am watching how all these things are moving through the different phases and what will come out of this new leadership. I don't know about anyone else here, but I feel calmer and more confident that things will get better in time. Good write, Jack.

  4. Lyn, it is politics but it's not really. It's something that I can not place a finger on but I do feel that it's something of worth.
