Harper In the USA...

Last night I was surprised to learn while watching the American new that Canada's Prime Minister was on a tour to all the prime networks to do a media blitz and keep the momentum up to keep and maintain the momentum after last weeks visit with President Obama's visit to Canada. I think these two have a agenda at work. I could be wrong but I think I am assuming that behind closed doors after Obama's visit. There was a desire to have the Prime Minister of Canada to come and explain to the media of what Canada is - I could be wrong but whom knows. Tonight President Obama makes his first formal speech. It should be interesting.

Last night before I head of to bed I called a friend that I had seen during the day and they told me to turn on CNN. There was George Clooney speaking about Africa and George is actually very involved in things.  I guess at a certain time in ones life we all make a choice on things in which we wish to embark on.

  6. When I sit and watch the news, I am humbled by how big the world really is outside of my little world. Sometimes I wish I had the ability to reach out and be an example to many as some of these celebrity's do. And other times I am very glad that I have the ability to make a difference one small seed at a time because in the greater good and the bigger picture of things, it will all fill out.

I guess I'm a firm believer in the butterfly effect.

Regarding Obama, I as an middle class american citizen really hope that he has what it takes to meet the demands of the commitments that he has made. The world as a whole is relying on him to make a difference. In my humble opinion, that's a lot to expect from one man. We voted for him, so, in the lack of time for detail, I hope to see him succeed with the goodwill for the world that he proclaims.

    Take care,

    Jenna

  9. We have to be careful not to waste too much energy looking for boogie-men under the bed. (joke) - I've never had the luck to find any man under my bed yet....

  10. The Butterfly Effect:

(physics) In a chaotic system, the ability of miniscule changes in initial conditions (such as the flap of a butterfly's wings) to have far-reaching, large-scale effects on the development of the system (such as the course of weather a continent away).

I appreciate your audio responses Initiative. Thanks. I hear them all.
Regarding the Butterfly Effect, I figure a reference to the Chaos Theory can decently apply here... :)...considering the state of the world and economics today. I mean, really, how did we actually get here? It happens by one individuals decision at a time...to answer or not answer a phone...to buy or sell...to make peace or war....ecetera.....

We all make a difference everyday even though we weren't even trying...

  12. AWESOME question initiative. I personally quandary the same thing. Will everyone stand by and support the full efforts of change? Powerful yet loaded question. I can only answer from limited personal experience. And in the efforts to not ramble, I will keep my thoughts as simple as possible hoping not to add confusion.

Change is never easy. We've all heard that, but it's very true. This “regular” yet “charismatic” man is voluntarily and as equally involuntarily at certain levels charged with the responsibility to make positive change and have solid results. This country and this world could us it and have had an overwhelming outcry for just that.

Ya know, without trying to sound more educated than I am I will state this. Every individual has their limit on what they will willingly do to make a difference and when they will step back and hope that others will complete the charge. Even in simple everyday things and experiences we see evidence of this.

The one hope that I have bought into with my vote for Obama is his statement that WE ALL can accomplish the goals at hand and it’s ONLY IF WE ALL do what it takes will the goal be accomplished. I buy in personally because I know from personal experience I have the ability to deal with the hardships (within my own personal limits and understanding) that might be necessary to make a positive change and benefit and difference in the big picture. But I can’t speak for all. Like I said before, we all have varying comfort levels and situational abilities to participate and provide the support of “change”.

The question you ask unintentionally becomes a very personal one if one asks themselves the same question. This is a good thing. Like my reference to the Butterfly Effect…everyone no matter how small or big their presence in the world; I believe they truly make a difference. Is it a comfort mechanism in hoping that my presence in this world helps the cause of positive change? Maybe, but all I can say is that I will do all that I can, and be the best example as life allows me to be to be a positive flap of a butterfly wing instead of a destructive, and I know the word “destructive” depends on what or who you are talking to at what time on what subject.
It takes all kinds to make the world go round. It takes all opinions and viewpoints. I guess the jury is still out regarding one of the questions you pose…Have we really found a decent world leader that understands just that with enough common sense, education and experience to understand and make the difference that we all long for?

I guess we will see how the world responds and how we will each individually respond.

  13. I could not agree with you more. And I am not one to just agree with everyone there are things that I will indicate are not the way I think, but from my end it's not due to being what my blog indicates as being "Canada", I see it from both sides and without thinking too much on myself I applaud some of the thought on this very subject as it's something that I really do see from both angles of American and Canadian. I guess a dual type of thought of everything.
I never push it but. Change is something I wrote much on and there are those things that certainly we all can involve ourselves in as we do deem fit...yeah why not...

  14. I'm not trying to be a pest but I just thought I would throw this up there. A fellow blogger does this movie quote quiz everyday and it was funny to see the below quote because frankly, I believe it has some validity.......Funny thing is,(no pun intended...well maybe kinda) :) a comedian made this statement popular again in a Hollywood movie.....

"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."

was from DEAD POETS SOCIETY. Liam Neeson was originally supposed to play the lead, but he had prior engagements so it went to Robin Williams instead.
