The Weather

There is certainly something to be said of that good old farmers almanac. Over hear in these parts they say it's going to be a very warm September. I tend to find that the old almanac does serve it's justice. Perhaps that due to the fact that it's a collective old manner in which farmers used to use to get an idea as to what was on the horizon within weather matters. As of today it's come to be much cooler. When it peaks up at 61 degrees in Fahrenheit. One knows that it's time to take out the change of clothing as it's just not that temperature where one can go about with shorts.

Mind you I never understood how this almanac worked as were there almanacs for every region? The weather hear is different to the weather in other parts of the world. Just think about it when there were farmers which didn't have GPS - nor the applets which will bring about the weather? Now a farmer which worked his crops in Illinois definitely was on a different weather prediction than that of one 1500 miles due west.

Benjamin Banneker must have had a good idea as even Thomas Jefferson came to approve of the very first almanacs which came from this man within the 1700's.
In an enclosed letter, he questioned the slaveholder's sincerity as a "friend to liberty." He urged Jefferson to help get rid of "absurd and false ideas" that one race is superior to another. He wished Jefferson's sentiments to be the same as his, that "one Universal Father . . . afforded us all the same sensations and endowed us all with the same faculties." Jefferson responded with praise for Banneker's accomplishments.

Now Ben had to have had some 4 sight when he was working on these. As they still stand the test of time as well as weather for the most part. Without any computer but as a scientist it's truly something which amazes me as to how even within this day and age many still reference this old farmers almanac. I myself find that is usually more predictable even in this day and age.

I am kind of glad as this old almanac indicates that within September despite this week we shall go back up into much warmer weather.

I likes the warm. And in according to the almanac after tomorrow we are back up into the 80's. I am not betting on it but I certainly do love the idea and if it happens one does have to thank this person whom created the very first almanacs. So thanks Ben even though your not with us any longer.

The weather at this time of the year it can go either way. And how something from the 1700's still is relied on in combination with the weather forecasting as we know it. There are several adaptations which have been made around the world with what we know of as the Farmers' Almanac yet how ironic a brilliant coloured man and former slave - came to be one which brought about what millions still count on and reference.

Thus it's not time yet for Long Johns...now I ponder on whom invented these. But if there is one word which goes along with thermal underwear...

OH -YOU - TEE - SEE - ITCH - OUCH

( I used itch as they are thermal but they can be itchy)
