September 11 - The Era that the News had Died

MD Ambulance (8)

Rather late it is yet I had a good review with my doctor and thereafter went about my business within the day. The weather here has been well up within the high 90's and it to last for two more weeks. Now that is an autumn which I can go for. I have been writing on September 11th and in no means does it have an impact on me. Here there will be a tribute which shall be taking place on Saturday. The means of what one wishes to express is their own given right. There are several countries which come this weekend are having some sort of tribute. Here within the city as with many other nations I believe there shall be an honor to those with a respect. It's been declared as a National Day of Service, which will take place within every city in honor & tribute to what had taken place ten years ago. I believe that there are certain areas within or lives which are that of which we do pay tribute. This is one of them.

In receiving a message of "get over it". I have yet that does not mean that one forgets the benchmarks of time within history. We honor them as the manner that I see it. For that matter there is so much debating on politics one would tend to think that to honor is within a grace which is within the same manner which we do recall and honor areas which have shaped the ways within the world. Yet if one is about to forget the regard and the ethics of the moral of what happened on September 11th - frankly that would be like casting away Memorial Day, Remembrance Day, and all the likes of that in which we do honor.

Better yet lets just throw out all the history which has made the very fabric of what has created the societies of which we live in. Now I would think that would be more of a disservice than otherwise.

I did meet up with the paramedics to see how all went with that situation with the young student being hit by the car on his bike. I had met up with a fire chief to learn that there shall be this tribute upon Saturday which I shall attend. There is the psychological side to what took place after 9/11. There were more innovations which came about with computing. An infrastructure with regards to security were made. Reality shows commenced in replacement to many television movies as Hollywood for a year in not two came to hold off on several which were in production within New York City at the time. And within music the song "Imagine". Came to be a signature song at the first New Years Eve celebrations around the world. As well, it changed the manner of which politics within governments came to be of less substance and much more of a reality show. Music seemingly was the one area which carried on yet there were many newscasters which following September 11 ended up leaving the press one of the likes was Dan Rather as well as Helen Thomas the one of the most respected Presidental journalist whom whom was noted for asking the hard question yet so well respected went from the front row after asking George Bush the hard questions. She wrote within one of her memoire of how the press core never dared to ask questions as within the first year following September 11th - the feel amongst most all of the press core - was that it would be unpatriotic to question the President. The feeling was that it may have been unpatriotic. Yet nearing the second year following September 11th - the press did start to question the actions which were being made.

When the press decided that they wished to do the reporting and journalism which they had always been educated. Helen asked the questions. She was known for doing so with countless presidents but when she was the first to directly ask the President on why he went into Iraq. Bush arrange to have Helen placed to the very back of the White House press room.  Shortly thereafter as the likes of Dan Rather they retired. So much for freedom of speech. Later on in interviews Helen went on to write here own memories and as well indicated that George Bush had done more harm to the way of America than any President within her life. At the age of 82 she resigned. At the ceremony in Helen's honor I quote Helen's own remarks:

"I have never covered a president who actually wanted to go to war. Bush's policy of pre-emptive war is immoral - such a policy would legitimize Pearl Harbor. It's as if they learned none of the lessons from Vietnam," she said to enthusiastic applause.

"Where is the outrage?" she demanded. "Where is Congress? They're supine! Bush has held only six press conferences, the only forum in our society where a president can be questioned. I'm on the phone to [press secretary] Ari Fleischer every day, asking will he ever hold another one? The international world is wondering what happened to America's great heart and soul."

Thomas ignored the clapping just as she once ignored the camera flashes and shouting matches of the Washington press corps. Later she would go on to write on how the press were too scared to ask the question - but she did yet Bush would never answer them and placed here in the back row. Helen's' career started with President Kennedy and up till George Bush she then decided to call it quits.

Since the era of George W. - the news took on a different means and ways. Yet during this era was when the News as we know it came to a halt. There after came an onslaught of a variety of types of news which had more of a sensationalized flair that that of which we were used to.

Thus those whom asked only the right questions retained their seats. It reminds me of how Richard Nixon took was able to take the Smothers Brothers of Television.

Same Style different Year.

  1. The worst thing that could ever happened to a journalist or for that matter journalism is to supressed them. As long as the journalist/reporter sticks to the truth and devoid of any maliscious intent in delivering them then it is news.

  4. You are right when you said the news has changed. Now its lies upon lies from the sensationalists trying to get an audiance on the radio as well as on the tv. Fox is the biggest offender as far as telling the truth, or as they see it anyway. And some of the right wing radio show hosts are complete idiots and liars to boot.
Bush never would answer a question that he didnt like. He should have been brought up on charges as well as his cabinet.
Sometimes I think this whole world has gone mad, so much killing and war.
