Politics are much too serious if you ask me. I do understand where some of those which are friends are coming from yet from afar its' very different - very different.
I am sitting between liberals and Conservatives, I keep saying compromise is the answer but no one is listening. i could see where Bush went wrong and I could see where Obama went wrong and is continuing. it is about party not people and so wrong. These people better remember that independents are the majority come election time and they are young old and in between. Bill Clinton does not agree with what is happening and that is something.
Politicians live in a rarified world where political power translates into MONEY. I don't believe anyone who has been elected to a national position understands what is happening locally. They are too busy taking care of the 'forest' to remember it is made up of 'trees.'
I have been looking at the political candidates themselves and their lives. What amazes me is a vast majority of those running for US President are more in a race to see which is nuttier. I am talking some really strange birds. One brought hi dead baby home from the hospital and spent the night with it before returning it. Another supported the people of his state declaring sovereignty and leaving the union, the very same one he now wants to be President of. One thinks light bulbs are killing our house hold pets. I am talking a bunch of Looney Tunes
Boy are you correct on that point Jack....all are on the crazy side of life. Watching the debates, the crowd in the audiance is even worse...screaming for blood and booing soldiers who risk their lives just because they are gay...what kind of people are they anyway? What I dont understand is they are supposed to be "compassionate" so where did that part go?
It does it has in all societies since the dawn of mankind yet...it does tend to be a downer mind you I see it now from afar Grammy. That is no down play on those which wish to but I could scan and write everything I read. Perhaps this is not just a time of which people are under scrutiny but in the words of John Fitzerald Kennedy, " as not what you wish from your country as what you can do for your country. I am not being condesending but politics of what is happening right now boy I wish I had a message within a bottle.
I don't believe the average america seriously knows what's happening - hey but I should run over to the dunce corner as I kind of think many nations are having problems. Could society at large be reforming the society of America?
Sharon this is where due to where I am from I shall and will get hit. But this is really getting crazy it's the making of a movie. America as proud as it is, that of which I know and lived is a nation that is patriotic and proud.
What has changed? I am not looking to cause problems but it does tend to get depressing Sharon. What is the feel of the average American? I know this strikes a chord but something is wrong with this picture.
It all took on a different tune Marty ever issue is scrutinized. I never thought freedom was of this manner or not to the extent. Sometimes I wanna say, Can you say that, Can you do that. I guess I did yet I believe within the fabric of America yet I don't claim to know it all. Everything came to be like a soap opera frankly Marty....it really has.
No it has never been this bad Jack...there has always been fighting between the D's and the R's but now its worse than ever. Its the tea party running the show in the Republican party and they have signed that pack for no taxes and they are sticking by it and that is causing lots of problems....the leader of that pack Boehner cannot get past the demented minds that are running the show in congress.
LOL...I think its a 'country' thing Jack....you know trees and such...folks living in the big cities dont have woods so I think the country folk say 'neck of the woods'...anyway I do so I guess you can say I am 'country'.
I love the country as well as I love the city Marty. Rural and urbanization, there is much to be said for both. Yet this saying as I was joking with you came from somewhere...
Yes I am sure it did...from some country bumpkin most likely...lol....now I am not saying country bumpkins are inferior to city bumpkins....I lived in the city also and I like the convenience of going shopping close by, where as in the country, we have to drive for miles to reach a shopping mall or whatever. Both have points to concider I guess.
Marty don't know where that word came from either but I do believe that there is something to be said for living within the rural areas. I suppose there are pros and cons to either.
As one who lives in the country, and have some woods about us, I decided to look it up. Etymology seems to be consistent that it is English based. I like what one definer stated: '"Neck of the woods," meaning a certain region or neighborhood, is one of those phrases we hear so often that we never consider how fundamentally weird they are. In the case of "neck," we have one of a number of terms invented by the colonists in Early America to describe the geographical features of their new home. There was, apparently, a conscious attempt made to depart from the style of place names used in England for thousands of years in favor of new "American" names. So in place of "moor," "heath," "dell," "fen" and other such Old World terms, the colonists came up with "branch," "fork," "hollow," "gap," "flat" and other descriptive terms used both as simple nouns ("We're heading down to the hollow") and parts of proper place names ("Jones Hollow").'
They continued: ' "Neck" had been used in English since around 1555 to describe a narrow strip of land, usually surrounded by water, based on its resemblance to the neck of an animal. But the Americans were the first to apply "neck" to a narrow stand of woods or, more importantly, to a settlement located in a particular part of the woods. In a country then largely covered by forests, your "neck of the woods" was your home, the first American neighborhood'
The root goes back to 'cnoch' of Old Breton and 'hnack' of Old German -- both referring to a summit, as identifying a place name.
Thanks and all too neat Grammy - God Bless. It's interesting to say the least of where these terms come from. As many as you have mentioned here came from years before our young countries here ever existed. This is much too neat on a Sundays eve. As I write from my "neck within the woods" back to you to your "neck within the woods.
It's fun listening to them, and seeing them from a distant.
ReplyDeleteAnd yep, true each one of us differ that no one would ever knew except ourselves.
... not unless we have a crystal ball laughs* a good morniing from here.
I feel they are right now and it's gone way to the left - I am not much within politics of this nature to be honest as it's

A soap opera played by children! They have the brains of a small child fighting like little brats.
ReplyDeleteyet it was not like this Marty...

ReplyDeleteOn to more enjoyable things...have you looked out into the sky to see how bright the stars are?
ReplyDeleteYeah about an hour and a half ago.
ReplyDeletethat is a very beautiful night sky you have up in your neck of the woods....all I see is blackness and stars out this way...
ReplyDeleteDays are shorter yet we have had warmer temperatures. Now who ever came up with "neck of the woods". :) I gotcha
