~ By Choice it was just Another Day ~

Fusion Room - Marc

This morning I was going to attend this tribute of 9/11 and then I came to realize that the world has not stopped. I went about doing other things as if the day was like any other. When I arrived home I made a few calls to some friends which live in Syracuse as well as New York City and that was enough. I was talking to one old friend by that name of Marc and I asked him what his feelings were within our discussion.

He said that there is enough within life from which to deal with and he is starting a new job with Lockheed and as well we both agreed that what happened on September 11 is that for the history books - and meanwhile we both go about our lives. Marc I have kept in contact with since I we both were kids. As soon as I called there he yelled out " Jack ". I get a kick when there are times that you have not spoken with someone for a period of time and it's just as if time has no meaning - coupled with one along with his brother have always been considered as family.

When we were young Marc and his brother used to come over and listen to me and my brother play music - thereafter they had several bands. Marc's mother died a long time ago when I was attending Syracuse University however he and his brother have continued with a band which is called, "The South Bay Band". He had sent me a few pictures and after tomorrow both of them are sending a few of the songs which they played at the New York State Fair which takes place in Syracuse, New York.

I myself am glad the day is over and while we were finishing off our talk on the phone Marc asked when I would come back and visit. I told him it's his turn now and we had a laugh. I myself don't think this would have hit as hard as it did and for most of the day I did other things. The past is the past and I think for the most part that we do go on with life and not thrive on matters which are that which cause a negative vibe. While talking with Marc we spent more time speaking on music and from here to there it seemed as if there is no distance.

Thus we move on and perhaps somethings we don't focus on too much yet we come to understand that live itself is precious and for myself I look at the bright side of things as Marc had mentioned everything today is like any other for him. Seemingly we still think alike and within the day it was a Sunday and that which was as it is. To be honest I am glad this day is over and done with. Yet it's the coolest thing when you get on the phone right before supper and from 3,000 miles there is not much of a difference within the mindset.

The band that Marc and Kevin have is called, "The South Bay Band". There were a combination of things which created the name and one was a road which we used to ride our bikes on ever day within the summer which was called, "South Bay Rd.,". The link to the home site of their band is as follows:

  1. Oh, that must have been very nostalgic for you.
Just the other day I was at my doctors getting a check up when he mentioned to my husband that he had just gotten a call from an old friend who lives in BC now. He hadn't talked to his friend is fifty-six years. He was amazed that he still remembered his voice after all that time.
I told him that there are really only twenty voice sounds over the whole world. The reason not everybody sounds alike has a lot to do with accents and things like appearance.
Anyway, we all remember the tragic day of 9/11 and each of us deals with it the way that feels comfortable for them.
With the deepest respect given to the victims and their families. Counting all the people and service men who have lost their lives to protect us from terrorism.
I commend them their bravery in the face of adversity.

  2. Met my childhood friends May the other year. Such a fun seeing each other's grown up faces yet the camaraderie of old times and the way we make 'kulit' to the nuns way back in St. Vincent's high's still there Cool.

  3. We need to move forward with the solution, which is to change so that the sort of thing that happened 10 years ago will no longer occur.

  4. Remember the past, learn from it, but do not live in it. We watched a bit of the news last night, but none of the day's events. It was good for old friends to reach out and touch again, wasn't it?

  5. It's no hoax Ericka as there were a few I called and then it's was good to talk with Marc and they never lived within NYC but within Syracuse and little did I know that they had this new band yet Marc and Kevin were much like brothers no we are and it was a fine good long talk with Marc. Marc has always been a great friend and now within this arena of computing - they have a new band which if all does work Marc shall send over some of their songs as I am not a large fan of Facebook. Syracuse is three to four hours north of New York City.

  6. I have met back up with them six times since living in Canada & New York. It was too cool - truly a story onto itself. From Syracuse, New York - that was were most all of what I consider as relatives that still reside. As that is where I was brought up.

  7. Last night DJ - I knew after I had made some calls when arriving back that even those which are close to me which are even within Syracuse - there was more of a feel of not getting all tied into it all and even from upstate New York - there was the feel that why bare in mind all the negatives and just go about life. I don't think that there will be much of a change yet I believe that it's something which one has to choose to live or to live in fear......frankly those from New York to those here - we all felt the same way.

  8. Every six months I keep up with old friends of that which I have known and yesterday was a time after a day to make a call to two friends which I have for the longest time. In that manner I am still old school Grammy.
We shared and we talked ironically we have so much in common - yet it was too cool to get that responce upon calling...So we shall decide on if they come here or if I go there. Yet it's was great to say the least.

  10. As tragic as the history of the event is and will always be, I think your friend has a point however that don't mean some kind of remembrance should not be observed just as we have ANZAC day here which becomes a whole day thing like 9/11 lest we forget. the idea of having maybe a one or two minute silence across the nation each year to mark the day and remind generations to come of the sickness of humans that could do this could perhaps be a good idea instead of taking the whole day which many may not be able to afford time of work. The silence followed by a brief message to speak of the heartfelt lose of Innocent Human life would serve as a constant remind to all both those that murder others while showing respect for the families and loved ones of the fallen.

  11. I understand full well of that of ANZAC Kenny. The Prime Minister there at the time decide to go into 9/11. There have and are many which have done as any have. Australia merged away from being within the crown and although as it is Australia's Armed Forces not only were in Iraq - they went into Afganastan. I never could fathom why Australia along with England became involved yet again that was then and now this is a new day and I hope that Australia follows the path of others as there was no necessity.

Yet I wish to get past this one as two days later I do wish to just get on with the normalities of life and writing on them. Yet ANZAC is the Australian Rememberance day. ANZAC was in regards to that of a remembering an not that of current affairs.

Yet Kenny you have to love the songs if you are able to hear them...
