Finally Things are taking Shape

I am glad that I took yesterday off as today there was several things to do.  First I had one meeting, which I found to go very well and then I went to the hospital, as I had not been there for one day. When I arrived there the nurses explained that although my father has an infection that he is having some seizures again.  When I saw him he was drastically improved.  Still some of the questions that came up while he was having his brain tested showed that there were some things that were not going right.

I went down with the nurse and then met with the neurology technician who explained everything that she was doing.  It was interesting and then I was called to say that the one internal medicine doctor was making rounds and I would be paged on the intercom when she was finished.

After a while I was tired so I headed back up to my father’s room, I had his television hooked up as but for now his telephone will stay off.  After an hour my mother along with my sister showed up and my father was just being brought back up to his room.  He was happy to see here.  Soon after my mother asked what was going on, so then indicated that within this department they don’t have me as medical next of kin.  So she went to the nurses and signed a paper and explained why she would like to have it this way, as she does not understand all that is going on and that I explain it all out.

So that was accomplished.  Then at that time I knew he was with family so I said that I had to get going and while on my way home I got a call from the specialist and she indicated that everything and said that somehow my father fell out of the loop and that he should have always been monitored more closely since the last time this had happened.

She assured me that the infection was slowly going away as well, they were going to revamp his medications but fist bring back in his neurologist as he has been having seizures where he goes completely blank.  She assured me that when they are all finished that from that time on everyone – the specialists will be all brought back into the loop and there will be a meeting in which she would like for me to attend but she indicated that there is still much to do before we get there.  She told me that she was amazed with all that he has had medically went through.  With an indication that from here on in she will maintain a connection with me till this is all done.

Knowing is the key and I am glad that this is all now being tended too, and I guess you could say my father is like old vehicle that has had it’s time – but it getting a complete overhaul medically with not just one good mechanic but several.

It’s a good day for a Tuesday!  Now I know all is in place.

  6. Coordination by his doctors is the key to keeping everything as it should be, many times that does not happen.

  9. I made it a point when mom has her stroke to call the nurse's station for information and instruction so I could know what I needed to do. So far as what brought about her illness. I have cared for her by myself since January 2006 and apparently am doing my job well.Got an A+ from her home healt aide! ;-)
It's a good feeling when you know they're in good hands isn't it?
