I read once that religion was created because man needed hope and without hope man could not go forward.
There are many similarities in the religions and yet wars are fought over their supremacy of one over another; prejudices are formed; blood lines protected and marriages denied based on religion. The biggest wrong I find with organized religion is the hate generated by something designed to uplift and inspire. And, it isn't the religion itself; it's the individuals who twist it to become what they need it to be and influence others with their manipulations.
You can always detect those individuals who are truly spiritual and it's inspiring to witness their peace, acceptance, and understanding. These individuals are the ones who impact you and make you wish to emulate them and strive to perfect your own personal connection.
As for myself, when I sit quietly and take in all that exists within this world of ours and can appreciate the smallest item to the infinite wonder of it all, I become grounded, peaceful, and awed at the same time. The logical part of me says that it is possible that all of this started with the first splitting of an atom. The hopeful part of me wishes for there to be more.
It comes down to a matter of belief. What we choose to believe and where we take it. It is more comforting for us as humans to believe that this is not all there is. We can choose to believe in a heaven, reincarnation, a never-ending revolving door of energy......but it comes down to what works for us as individuals striving to make it from one day to the next.
We can say that organized religion was created to control the masses. Perhaps that is correct. Where would we be but in chaos if some guidelines for acceptable behavior were not established? But then again, legal guidelines perform the same function. Could we easily be a policed state totally separate from religion and be the same?
G'day Jack,
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to comment on either of the two topics religion or politics, as for most their beliefs in either run too deep for people to have an open mind regarding the other persons view, no one is really interested in why you came to the conclusion that made you chose the one you have, they are too busy telling you you are wrong in your choice if it differs from theirs. Have you ever considered the parallel between the two, what other topics can bring serenity, peace, discontent, fear total disinterest & even hatred to the fore like these two can?
Like language --- a fascinating subject but one that would take years to study----------I would love to though........
ReplyDeleteNo worries...hey it's Sunday...
ReplyDeleteSo I found Wendy with religion but now and then there is something that creates a thought perhaps. Yes I have considered that these may be areas that are not to be wrote about. But I have no desire to create a negative vib with what I write at all...
ReplyDeleteG'day jack,
ReplyDeletegood gracious I was not for a min suggesting they shouldn't be written about, maybe if it was done more so, people would begin to understand that each has the right to their own opinion & neither is wrong they both just differ, they are just two I like to read about but stay out of discussions of if possible. lol
Read my mind again Wendy....
ReplyDeletewithin nature there are no written" rules" only those that benefit all creation------understood and when left to truth work very well-----it is when we---"the enlightened ones" dam the rivers and harvest the timber-----when we "control" growth -----is not amigo the magnificent structure that we "feel" but rather the soul of the dead wood that reaches our soul and brings us to realization ..................................
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blogs and yet I hesitate to comment on some subjects because I do not want to start a barrage of negative comments. I do not agree with all of your beliefs but I certainly do feel it is your right to voice them and it is your site and thus I like to respect your place. I have seen others post blogs on a political or religious subject and recieve some horrendous comments as a result of just stating what they believe. I like to enjoy blogging and I never want to participate in a war of words.
ReplyDeleteAre you ready for Thanksgiving? I am getting there and looking forward to the Holiday.
I understand Janis....we had thanksgiving here in Canada in October. So it's something that takes place a little earlier here...
ReplyDeleteRealizations are something I am contemplating on a Monday. Si.
