An Eye for A Life? It's time for Change....

Two Canadians were killed in this week's series of deadly attacks on targets in Mumbai.  Montreal physician Michael Moss, shown in this undated handout photo has been identified as one of two Canadians killed in the Mumbai attacks.

Attacks were carried out at 10 locations across India's financial capital including two luxury hotels, a crowded train station, a hospital and a popular cafe.  Moss was a British trained general practitioner who immigrated to Manitoba from England more than 30 years ago, according to a Dr. Ron Ludman, one of his colleagues in Montreal. He was traveling in Mumbai on vacation.  Ludman was told his daughter died last Wednesday. Dr. David Wiegens, said Moss will be sorely missed.  Montreal actor Michael Rudder is recovering from three bullet wounds received during the Mumbai attacks.  The Canadian government had already confirmed that two Canadians were among those injured in the coordinated gun and grenade attacks.
Montreal voice actor Michael Rudder, a past Genie Award nominee who was visiting India with a U.S. meditation group, was one of the two Canadians wounded.
When militants stormed one of the city's hotels, he suffered three gunshot wounds, but has undergone surgery and is recovering in the critical care wing of a Mumbai hospital.
A bullet grazed Helen Connolly of Markham, Ontario, just outside Toronto, a yoga instructor.

Two other American members of the meditation group, Alan Scherr, 58, and his daughter, Naomi, 13, were killed in the attack.  It seems this was like a pilgrimage, but turned into an "intense, terrifying experience.  Police officers inspect a car after they shot dead two suspected gunmen in Mumbai late Wednesday night.  But the battle to free hostages continued at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel and a Jewish center as security forces clashed with the militants responsible for the attacks.  According to reports earlier Thursday, six foreigners were killed, including at least one Australian, a Japanese and a British national. A German and an Italian were also killed, according to the foreign ministries in the two countries.

The attacks were launched on Wednesday night, as militants armed with rifles and grenades attacked the sprawling city of about 13 million people. The gunmen struck a total of 10 sites, including a packed train station, a restaurant popular with tourists, the Jewish community center, hospitals and the two luxury hotels.  Most of the dead were Indian nationals many of whom died in the attack on a train station as gunmen fired indiscriminately on waiting passengers.

Survivors of the hotel attacks said the gunmen spoke and said they were specifically targeted Britons and Americans.  At least 150 people are now confirmed to have died in the attack. I don't wish for the bad things I look forward to the good things but when does one set the standard or again do we just sit and let it all happen again...

Regardless of where the people came from these terrorists have to come to an end. We are not talking the "Sadam's" or the "Bin Ladens" of the world or any other just a group - actually many groups that are much different than you or I.

We all should be able to live in our own lives without all this taking place at this time. Many would think it's the fault up opening eight years ago something that has not been open since centuries ago.

Regardless, I do believe in life and not in this....it's not about the Middle East - it's about a disruptive mission of fanatics that have gone bad.   Now with Obama in place nearly and as well with various other well versed industrialized countries that have a military (well each of ours has been grown to be tired)...

My aspiration is that this as well as the economy gets is the top of the list.

  1. I'm hoping that Obama can stop this "eye for an eye" thing that went on so many moons ago, that has crept up again... He can't do it alone, we all know that, but there are other countries that were praying for anything other than the GOP to come into power... Now we have Obama... let's hope he can convince the other countries to back him up, and go in and clean out thier lands... to stand beside him so we can wipe out this menace to all mankind... and bring our military home, where they belong. I can dream huh Jack? Namaste'... PeeKs

  2. It's going to be a very big job for Obama. The economy AND dealing with terrorism. I just hope he can make some sort of effective change on both in the very near future. I heard someone say that they thought the CIA was involved with the bombings in India in an attempt to end the outsourcing of our jobs so that those jobs will return to the U.S. and thereby improve our economy. I think that's a bit far-fetched, but interesting nonetheless..............

  3. I think that Obama will represent in the entire community. I think that if anyone can bring back a unified global defense program that everyone has a belief in. Peeks I think it's him.
We can dream but we don't need these things again.

  4. Not just Obama, there is an assembly of people, and Obama himself even talked about it. It's about the USA but at the same time rendering BACK alliances that were lost.
We all can do this. If the USA thought they could do it without anyone else. There would be an economic shift. CIA, CSIS, CCTV - Scotland, and so many more.
One country can not do it. But many can...

  6. I just had a call from a good friend and what it really is about is that we want to have the good things in life back. We don't want to have all the things that we have seen before.
Going out to a restaurant, movie and so on and not getting back home and seeing that something again has happened.
    Life is about living....

  8. Last I heard, the death toll was around 180 and may still rise. What a horrible carnage and a waste of human lives. My heart goes out to the families of those who were killed.
No one can erase or make what has happened go away. I heard that the 11 people involved have been shot but if I lived in Mumbai, that wouldn't make me feel any more secure. No one can prevent other similar situations from happening. All it takes is a small bunch of extremists and it will all start up again.
Let's hope that security in that country will be beefed up and that officials can learn something from what has happened. Although we're far away, we should all be alert and not take our safety for granted.

  11. The one thing that they can not impact is that we are resilient with our lives. Regardless of where we come from. We are and we will be. What really is resilience in this day and age?

  12. G'day Jack,To destroy a nations pride & joy while ending the lives of so many innocent people from all over the world can not & should not be allowed to continue, they live with hatred & delight in creating fear & death, while we on the other side live in love & hope & delight in freedom, they are not in the race, no one man/ woman, no one Nation can defeat them but a united front can in time, hopefully it will be not too far in the future.

  13. Michael Moss was a friend of my brother in law.... I never knew him personally but I can tell you he will be missed for billions of reasons. Sad to think those events go on regularly in some countries... we only recognize em when we loose some of ours.

And oui... I am bilingual. Something about living in Québec gave me that opportunity.

    Have yourself a great Sunday!

  14. I was not sure that you could understand english as well as French I wrote in respect with french.
Doctor Micheal Moss was was a profound man as well as his friend. I am having a great Sunday, but I will mention that this has to come to some closure with all these fanantics.
I don't thrive on the negative. If an economy around the world can start to rebuild in two months.

There is no reason that WE can't do what is necessary for the name of one word called Peace.

  18. I agree with Muzzy Jack, no one country can stop it alone, ALL peaceful countries will have to unite against them. Even then it will take a very long time to stamp it out.
