Obtaining What we Want in Life

Sometimes life is never ending commitments. While there is nothing wrong with being very busy, those of us who over commit or over extend ourselves potentially face exhaustion and burnout. I find that we do live in a much faster paced life and there is a need to just cultivate what is most important to us and what isnt. Here to comes balance and within balancing your own inner clock, you may be able to "tick tok" better.

I have seen some of this happen with myself and as well with others. There is this desire to get as much done within a day. But cadence is the key in obtaining things while keeping it all together. Maybe so, seems to work for me as I have been doing this for some time but I am not Ghandi, but I think that it comes down to some sort of inner spirit combined with the maturity to recognize what is best.

To regain your equilibrium and clear the clutter from your calendar, simplify your life by establishing limits regarding what you will and will not do based on your personal priorities. If simplifying your schedule seems prohibitively difficult and you still feel pressed to take on more, try imagining how each new commitment will impact your life before saying yes.

When you consider the hassle associated with superfluous obligations, you may be surprised to see that your schedule is impeding your attempts to grow as an individual. Your willingness to pare down your agenda, no matter how gradual your progress, will empower you to retake active control of the life that defines you, myself and all of us...

And of course we are growing ahead, no we are not growing older - it's all within the mindset.

  1. A timely reminder--- going into the holidays. I had a conversation with my elder son about this very subject tonight. He's a new father (four month old son.) Both he and my daughter-n-love work full-time. He is a teacher and basketball coach (two teams) at a local Middle School. My son is stretched as tight as a banjo string and his Mother is worried. I see the signs of stress and am hoping he recognizes the tremendous need in his life to "pare down his agenda..."

Too bad we only learn best by experience---if only our children (and others) could learn from our mistakes.

    Good write Jack...

  4. GA, right now within my work I am up so early but yet I know that after work I have to just return home and relax and then go to the next day. If I tried to do it all in one day I would be wiped out. It's not about age, it's experience yeah, but it's about taking that self time and understanding ( I feel ) that we can do something and we don't conduct ourselves around life that is now a 24 hour thing in so many areas, perhaps it's finding out own inner clock, and then we do tick and toc, much better.
There is a saying "Live and learn" maybe we can learn as we live?

  5. I have had two weeks of a doing dilligence within this training within my work. It demanding physically as well as within thought and I kept my balance through it and now I am working on a level that I feel great. However, when I get home, I have to take that time I find. And then thereafter I feel great, I guess I am working around my own lifestyle. It's really not advice, it's just my own thoughts that I often love to write about...

  6. Cadence is something that is setting up an agenda of timing things. It has everything to do with what and how we live our life.

  7. You are so right Jack my friend, we do tend to try to do too much in one day, I have done that all my life & what's more I still do ( even at my age) Still haven't learned that trick of tick tocking along at a slower pace mate - *laughing* I am afraid there are only two speeds in my gears - FLAT OUT & STOP -- well I guess I am making the most of it while I still can eh? Time will come soon enough when I will HAVE to put my feet up & twiddle my thumbs -- OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YUK !!! what a lousy thought. One of these days my clock will start to run down though I guess . The weekend is just around the corner, hope you have something good planned to do when it arrives mate. Get a bit of R & R in if you can, doing something that you enjoy. I see it is 9.30pm there,so I wish you a very goodnight's sleep. Nite nite my friend - Hugs

  8. We all are unique and what arrives is what is important to ourselves in our own ways Beverly. I found and ointment for my legs and my gosh, the day went great but yet winter comes, and who knows what comes about in life. All that we can do is try our best. I have times where I come to a flat out stop, but I realize now when there is a time to stop and if I don't for a while - how it can impact the other areas of my life. Hence - cadence. You are contagious my deario...if you have the chance click on the attachment you may like the song.

    Hugs there Beverly...

  13. G'day Jack,
I find people are a little like motor cars, some run best on full throttle & others are better off just cruising along, I think the trick is to know which you are & to adjust your driving force to match the motor. either which one you are one shouldn’t take on too many passengers, they are what can weigh you down & cause cracks in the main frame....have a good Friday Jack & then you may take two days off if you like to recharge your batteries lol

  14. After a busy week here I found today that where ever I seemed to look something needed to be done. It overwhelmed me too much that I didn't tackle anything and decided to switch off from it all until next week.
Like yourself I must stop or slow right down to recharge and find my balance.
Have a great weekend Jack....oooops you have got Friday to go yet.....hope it's a good day. Keep warm.

  15. when the leaves turn in brilliant colour we are in awe yet as the leaves lay upon the ground and bare the tree we do not notice the healing nor are we grateful for the seed that we do not notice beneath the leaves------why?

  17. Denise - yes, all this week I applied that Cadence and then even after work in driving home, I thought go take a drive and get a few pictures, but really I find that I here I am, and I have done all that I can do for this last week that has gone well only by way of applying this - really in a manually way - and then it starts to flow if you know what I mean.
We all have those times that we need to recharge or utilize that cadence to do to be the upmost of whom we are - and appreciate what we wish and want to appreciate.
The day is over and things have been accomplished - now it's my time, as everyone has that need or reason from which to DO...

  18. Iamnada - some do and some don't. I don't know the answer to that it's a thought provoking question. Perhaps someone else does know the answer to that. Some are regretful and some are not.
Deep thought leave one with many things to provoke a different manner from which to look at things and you certainly do that.
Once again I will say I am so pleased that I have you as a contact as back on Y360, we used to have a great time in how we wrote.
