It's Been Amazing

The future seems to look brighter in many ways.I actually became a bit misty eyed listening to Barack Obama’s victory speech. He is an excellent speaker and if he meant what he said plus has the fortitude to follow through on his uplifting words, America may be in for a brighter future than otherwise thought.

He harbors no fantasies...only movement...

Outside of all things I never thought I would watch the finalities of the United States Elections. I had to get to bed too early. There is so much that has gone on with this campaign that one could literally write a book on it all.

Two very good men were challenged with trying to become the President of the USA. One is the going to be the newly elected President is a great man, which certainly does not go out in a negative manner as I think that SenatorJohn McCain is one that people respect witha capital "R". To have been a wartime hero, and as well to go out as a winner not a loser is the style that only comes by way of nobility.

Now in my life I have never had that many times where I have truly been amazed. I mean amazed in a way that you see something that has happened by the people. Let’s leave everything aside for a moment but what I am trying to say is that I never have seen people from within the United States so passionate about a man. While at the same time, I have never watched several people from all generations and from all different sorts coming near tears as they listened to an appreciative speech - which was indicating, "this is not about me
this is about you".  I was listening to the radio and it mentioned that 77% of Canadians if given the chance would vote for Obama, then there was a statement from an American newscaster that mentioned, “Do note that this is not being watched just by people here in America, it’s being watched by people all over the world”.

As it was.

I can’t place words on how pleased I am. I guess on person from Spain summed it up, by saying he not only represents the United States, he almost seems to represent a worldly view that here in Europe we can relate with. It’s really from many standpoints working “from the bottom up”. President elect B. Obama may very well be an impeccable movement – if he became a movement, he obviously knew what he was doing with his political team and administration. Is Borak all about color?

I think he has inspired the black American culture, but he represents much more yet he has illustrated that one can do something if they really wish too as well as we saw how prejudism is still prevalient.  But for myself this is the best thing I have seen in some time. And time has been a very rare commodity of recent. Most of all I think he showed what makes a president and how not to be diplomatic. I don't know what the statistics are but I am sure that this was the most watched address across the world since many many years ago.

Some compare him to Kennedy, but Obama is not Kennedy he is President B. Obama. I can see how he has made it to being the President "elect", but he had no family members that could pull strings for him as John Kennedy did wish his father Joe. Borak did it with people that merely respected him.

I am so happy that this all worked the way it has, and if I can really say it, I don’t really know how to summarize how I feel. But I feel very good with the finality of this campaign, the end of the Bush/Cheney era, and I look forward to what does come.

~ On the television, from Chicago, Jesse Jackson, himself a former presidential candidate, had tears streaming down his face. From Thailand, that giant of public service, Colin Powell, told an interviewer that he and his family all cried as well when Obama was named the winner. The next day, at the State Department, Secretary Condoleezza Rice promised to help the new administration adjust to office and then, struggling to keep her composure, talked about her pride as a black woman in an Obama victory. ~

  4. The golden term “do onto others” is a phrase that echoes in all cultures worldwide. If you wish to place words as such, do them on your own blog please. It's fine to have differences, but not comments as such. Thank you.

  6. We all do Nancy. And I think that change at this time is not only with one that leads but as John F. Kennedy once said, "It's not what your country does for you but what you do for your country". Well, I think it's something that we have seen so much go on with defamation of characters and I feel that this is one leader now that does need the backing of people as well as to carry out what he needs to do. And it's fair to say that people from all over the world have watched this and I would dare to say that no one was against McCain, I was not, I believe this man is the chosen one....and a new era has just begun.

  8. This was a great post, Jack.

We are so pleased that our friends and neighbours to the north and yes, throughout the world are as excited as we are (with the exception of a few angry bigots who you spoke to brilliantly).

It is this worldwide enthusiasm for Obama that i hope will bolster efforts for peace and cooperation around the world. This is what i sensed in his possibility from the beginning.

With all our help i think we can do it.

  9. Jen this is the first time I have been able to get on here. I wrote about Borak two years ago, and I thought that he was something amazing. I didn't think about the election and then the manner that he conducts himself. I find him to be a person that is amazing. But I think, he thinks before he does anything. He is a great speaker, but most of all I don't think we have seen his actions. And I do believe that everyone around the world stopped for this. This is the beginning of a new era I hope. I can't say how much I feel that way and as well, having been raised in the USA and....well you know what I mean. I think that it all is going to do something very good. His choices are with thought, look at whom he has as a VP. It's hard to talk about different colors when you don't believe in it. I truly think that the foundation that he was raised, and the maturity that he exudes represents something that we have not seen.
Now he is not perfect, but with the best of the best - I think that he will be the best leader internally and internationally as he thinks before he acts. He is a very thoughtful man. And yes America can do it, but a leader at this time will do it - along with the right people he surrounds himself with. I think when we see his choices...that will illustrate what was promised.
The President elect....came at the right time, at the right place!

  13. G'day Jack,
The culmination of the race was as exciting as the winner himself, one could see the hope radiation from the faces of the people he was addressing, He is a master at communicating what he wanted them to understand, I wish him all the luck in the world, it won't be easy but he gives the impression that he will do his best and he expects to do it well. (It was the mention of the puppy that won me) grin...seriously I think they have picked a winner this time

  14. I know next to nothing about politics and although probably like many I was glad to see the end of all the campaigning, now is the beginning of change not only for the people of America but for the World. It was truely amazing to watch and I too was misty eyed.
Yeah I too loved the mention of the puppy for his daughters when they move into The White House.

  15. For Obama to have won with such a great margin, there was no doubt it was the will of the American people. Now the hard part begins, for him and for us. Great post, Jack, especially when you had no stake in this.

  17. What is a winner... perhaps in this case the right person was there at the right time and he has such a great understanding of many things and surrounds himself with what can be......I am sure he will be doing a mind shift, from the campaign to other areas. At times I wish to change Wendy my local, the reason is that just like a prejudice, I have had some negative things come my way. And I know and have lived in the USA - and I guess this does show that. Yet I don't believe in bastardizing people for what they believe in. Respect goes a long way, if you know what I mean.

  18. I know Denise :) way back you remember that Group and it was something that some were into and some where not but this was a historical moment. That is not politics, it's an event.
Talk about his dogs I did not know how many he has, but as well I wish to say one thing that when I went to one blog last night. I had a quote that "If Canada follows the constitution and the way of America it will be fine", it was not really like that but it resonated a President that we watched for 8 years with a very narrow grasp and mindset.

    I prefer dogs! :)

  19. You have it right and I think that this is were all things come into play. He has already spoken with Prime Minister Harper - yes he is Canadian, and is going to bring about something that does not come over night, but if the man has two terms what he can accomplish - will be hopefully a gain. But he will not solve all the problems of the world he will solve by the resolve of accomplishing a economic and as well bring back (which is so wished for) a open mindset to Globalization. I have read him and I have heard him and I am glad that he came around at this time. As well I am so glad that all the campaigning is done. Yes I reside in Canada, but I think that I am not a typical canadian, as I spent my youth and as well a portion of my adult life in the United States. I see it from an american side as well as a Canadian? No, I think more of a unbiased view...

  20. What a great Blog Jack. We here in Australia were enthralled with all the campaigning, didn't miss any of it. What a wonderful speaker Obama is . Our Prime Minister called him & they spoke for 15 to 20 minutes & Mr Rudd was so very impressed with him. He is now looking fwd to the many meetings there will be with him further down the track- What a History making Election it has been - I am glad I am still alive to see this- Have a great weekend mate -Hugs

  21. Oh I have more to say on this and I am going to write on it. But I wanted to get some thoughts. Here Prime Minister Harper is doing the same within a few days.
And the same to you - it's been a time which I have not been able to write as much as I would wish too, but shall.
