R E L I E F

I was up early this morning and then at 8:30 this morning I had my appointment. I had my reservations with him. Yet I was impressed and I had four teeth done. He is a rather silent type of person. But I had xrays and then that large xray where you stand up and it does a scope almost your entire face.

I had to have four teeth done. I minor cavities within three and then a large gap I guess this one other. Yet there was a fifth I kid you not.

Back 2.5 years ago, I had my upper left back wisdom tooth removed. Now at that time I was in Edmonton, Alberta. And this young dentist said he was an oral dentist as well and his intention and what I thought was paid for was a removal of my wisdom tooth. I remember it well as after the procedure for one week I literally was in the pain that I have been having over the last month if not more and with the change of climate yesterday and to be very frank. I have been putting up with it for some time. I will talk most of the day and then come a certain time. It's hard and painful to talk. This has been an ongoing situation for some time easily. Most all know I live in another city as I moved back here from there in Alberta.

To make a long story short the dentist said that half my tooth - this one that was (what was told to me and who would think otherwise) that I just had some pain of some sort.

Well low and behold, this stand up xray machine apparently goes further into more detail. Low and behold I have the root of my wisdom tooth sitting in there with one root end pushing on my sinus duct. I can say that when I found this out I knew this was much more than just a few cavities. So the teeth were all done and all is well in that area but here I have been placed on pain meds as I am waiting for the dentist to find a good oral dental surgeon that can fit me in as ASAP. Last year the same thing would happen when there was a change in climate and certain things would trigger an inflamation - I thought I had some sort of infection going on but the case was inflamation would be triggered.

This dentist here did all four teeth and I must say that all went well, after he was done he told me what he has his staff calling around the city as well as at the university. So I have been placed on codiene right now and I am in no pain but this really says something for this past dentist. As I don't have the bill, but I am pretty sure that this dentist said he was a dentist and oral surgeon and wasnt at all. He had just started up his business.

So I feel fine actually better than ever - but as well, I had a meeting with my doctor today and by the time that I met with him - he indicated that he is placing me on codiene as some of the complications I had been having dizziness, a vertigo, as well as a TMJ - which is a neurological disorder. So sooner than later I shall get in either this week or at the latest next week. I am not all for medications as the likes of this codiene but I remember this happening last year right at the same time.

So making this long story short, I have had half my wisdom tooth sitting there and the root is touching my sinus duct. This is tremendously pain full and I remember a few times I got on here and said something with my mic and I knew that I sounded drained as my jaw as just killing me. So thank god for today. This dentist has been practicing here for 22 years and with a three times a day regime right now with Codeine as NSAID's which are non opiate pain killers were not cutting it. I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was that this came about as I thought I was going nuts, or very depressed as so often headaches and pain are sometimes indications of depression.

I got out of the dentist's office by 10:30am. There after I had my doctors appointment at 11am. By the time I was there he already had the email report from my dentist and we talked it over and I agreed to go on Codeine. So this really is something and I am not going to go bark up a tree with this dentist - whos name I forget. But I am going to just have wait and have this all done and four teeth are done. That's all good - and now I await for a Oral Dental Surgeon and I know from speaking with the Dentist as well as my doctor that this probably shall be done within this week.

But I have to say thank god for relief as I don't believe in taking opiate medication only if both this dentist and my doctor feel that it's the answer for the embetween time.

I would have never known that I had half my wisdom tooth sitting there and this as indicated to me has been the major reason for much of my pain. For the embetween time I don't mind ( I can see how people get hooked on this stuff) but I have never felt better as I do now in the last week. As it was up there - so I do look forward to having this done and over with. And I am looking forward to it in fact.

So I have temporary relief as well as two very good medical people which shall find one good oral surgeon within good time. For now I feel good - almost too good. Four teeth done and one embedded root to be done.

So that is the story with regard to my teeth. So this dentist I say a big yeah, my doctor a big yeah and for now quality of life a big yeah. I can't begin to tell you the times I was awaken in the middle of the night with pain. So resolve is here by way of what was done as what is going to be done. And till that time - I shall be on this narcotic as I am told it's fine as long as I don't go over two weeks and never to take more than what is needed.

  6. I too have very bad teeth problems. I get some really bad headaches. Which could be caused by the fact that I have little to no healthy molars.
Another reason it is a good idea to go onto softer foods like vegetables. Little to no chewing is involved. I have coverage but they don't do root canal. They would only do emergency surgery. So, they'll extract it but not pay to keep it.
About five or six years ago I went to the University of Toronto School of Dentistry and the teacher warned me that when a tooth is pulled on the top (in my case it was an old root canal that needed to be extracted) that there is a danger of it affecting your sinus cavities for life. You will get pain just like you mentioned.
Fortunately, for me his students were having a great deal of trouble pulling my tooth out. So, the teacher took over for which I was very relieved.

  7. This is good as little did I know an extraction was left and here we have much like you the School of Dentistry and for now I am just glad that this came to be the day in which four were done and well this dentist back in Edmonton certainly played me as he claimed to be an oral surgeon and the feel I get is that now that was not the case or I would have went directly into the Royal University Dentistry but there are only so many hear and the quicker the better is all I can say Ericka. I am not much for codiene and opiates but just till they have one that will see me, I shall follow as advised. It did effect my writing on here. I know it did.
Some don't realize that within every university there is usually a dentistry department and many go that route...So soon this one is done and the other four.
Now there is no need to complain... I am very pleased to say the least.

  8. The U of T program was good for my emergency but the other tooth problems were at the time going to take way too long. I was working and I couldn't take that many afternoons off.
I though maybe an hour or so do some work and come back a week later but no. It was going to take months and months and I just couldn't take the time away from work.
Now, I don't have anyone but I hope to get my teeth fixed at some point soon. They may just have to extract them now anyway.
At least my front teeth are ok. Other wise I would look pretty funny.
    lol.
It's good to be able to make fun of your self sometimes.
    :)
Now, that I quit smoking cigarettes my teeth look at lot whiter.
    :)

  15. Yes this is a main thing Grammy but I had a call today and within good time this last procedure shall be done. It was something that after having 4 teeth filled and then finding out that I had a root that had been sitting there since two years and some. But I was fine and went out but at that same time up here we are having an election. So I just finished supper and then I watched it and then came online here. People do get hooked all so easily on medications. So when I had the call from my dentist saying they have the surgeon and now are working in a date. The day is good.

Thanks and I answered your blog and it's hard to say what people that know me think of me. Yet I
have always enjoyed people even this dentist! As well, my doctor of yesterday he is a big plus. Aside
of that I have had friends scattered all over from living like a gypsy. (Ok I am rambling here). :)

It's good and thank you Tori.
