A Legacy of Love - Leaving the Earth a Better Place

From our first breath here to our very last, we will find infinite opportunities to influence our environment for the better.

We inherit this great planet from our parents and from the generations that came before. Then, in concert with the surrounding culture, our elders teach us how to care for the land and the sea, ourselves and each other. They model ways of being in relationship with every other expression of life on earth. But whether they act with care or carelessness, compassion or cruelty, generosity or greed, we have the ability to choose our own individual way of relating with the planet and her inhabitants. From our first breath here to our very last, we will find infinite opportunities to influence our environment for the better. We can decide now to act with intention in order to leave this amazing planet brighter and more beautiful than when we arrived.

If we enjoy environmental activism, we might feel moved to clean up beaches or to plant trees. But, we need not feel limited in our ability to contribute positively. There are many ways to leave a legacy of love. We might begin by radiating affirmative thoughts and feelings about how magnificent the earth truly is. We might create and tend a special garden, one that provides an abundance of food and herbs for ourselves and our loved ones. Or we might create a garden filled with sweet smelling flowers to uplift our hearts. We might even honor the earth simply by trying to be the best person we can be while we are here. Such good will can have a domino effect, inspiring others to contribute in their own way as well.

We spend our lifetimes being nourished and enlivened by the rain, sun, soil and wind. Our experience is blessed by other living beings, from plants to insects to birds and humans. We receive so much; giving back just naturally feels good. When we live our lives with intention of leaving this temporary home a better place for generations to come, we are perhaps leaving behind the best gift of all.

"We must use time as a tool, not as a crutch."  John F. Kennedy

  2. They certainly were and perhaps we might, I have not seen all that is going on. But I like you do believe within peace. This shall perhaps
be a time where historians will reflect on it as a very mixed up time, and a pursuit which was confused. Certainly we place down weapons
of destruction and perhaps we urn for the peace.

Those three people certainly did do something within the past that raised the bar and we have yet to see the likes of within this era.
    Yet hope amiga.

  3. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. I don't like violence either, but do believe in the right to have weapons in our homes. The blog is about the environment, though, not guns, so I will agree that we need to do more to protect our environment!

  4. It's the persons holding the weapons that made it a killing machine. Honestly, i longed for the time where everybody, every country, every government officials could sit besides one another having a good laugh instead of fighting and relentless fighting words that only adds fuel for us all not to attain the peace we are all looking and hoping for.

I hope peace and harmony wouldn't just be a dream ...

  5. "opportunities to influence our environment for the better. We can decide now to act with intention" Yes, that is possible for each one of us, even if it is only in our reactions to each other.

  6. It's true it's more about the enviornment Terri and the pleasant things we do share within our sphere. I never was one for guns but that is my own self choice but I truly believe in to each their own. What I find amazing is the things that are within what we inhabit and it would be a natural choice as you have palms and I have pines ( smiling as there is something wrong with this picture ).
Lets trade as I love the climate from where you are and as well I love nature here and it's been again a very nice day as the sun was out and now this is the time where spring I believe has arrived.

  7. DJ, it's true. We do have that choice and our actions are by way of our intentions. It's that trickle up positive effect and it starts with one and progressively moves along. Hence the opportunity was right in front of us and either we grabbed it or not.

  8. Since the dawn of mankind we have always had negative energy and positive energy. Since the dawn of mankind we were born imperfect I feel. Yet within peace we find it within that inner harmony, by faith, a source, yet the very decent things within life are often done within a manner that comes by way of how I choose to look at life. As with everyone else as well DJ, summarized it very well. When we were children we never presumed anything we just did.

  11. Tori, I just arrived home and literally it's been a hectic day but I think this all is within the summary of all.
I never write within fiction nor within the third person. I have been looking and shopping for the right thing
for my folks and now I have it and I took it over to them and then came home and I love to express.
So with that all said today is a day in which my folk were married and don't mind me as I am going to place
on one of there favorite songs.
