~Juxtaposition~
This was taken while I was within Montreal. There was so much culture to be seen there and while for the second time I headed into the city I literally took my time in trying to get as many pictures as I could. This picture to me is precious as when you were in Montreal you would see so many great old buildings.
What I loved about this picture is that you there stood a very old and large church meanwhile right behind it was a modern skyscraper. The lighting was right, the two buildings were side by side. This is my submission within this them of Juxtaposition as there is a relevance and contrast of two vary different buildings built in very different times in history. The Church was built within the 1800's while the other was built within our modern age. The two contrasted in size, purpose as well as size.

ReplyDeleteYep I was just there for three months and it was something and the only province within Canada that I have never seen now I know why they have such a vast history that goes back over 400 years. Hey Rosie, it came out large flickr has made some changes but my intention was not to have it as large as it is.
ReplyDeleteI partake within this group and one gets away from there writings. I know your not a member but it's the closest thing I found
in being within Europe, Quebec is over 400 years old and over here there has never been a society that has that kind of history.
While living in New York how many would fly to Montreal or old Quebec City as they wished to see something in my own experience
it's was the only province in Canada that I literally saw with my own eyes this kind of history. And the buildings, they are much like
over there as United States and Canada are relatively young with our buildings in comparision.
I will go on to write but it's nice seeing pictures literally from around the world, I do mean that!

Vicky your picture was great, I do mean that I it's all in the array of what we feel good with doing. I for the life of me was trying to figure out what this jaxtaposition - it's a theme a good one. And where I reside now is just a town that is 250,000 thousand, it's called a small town yet a growing city.

this idea works well jack..typically a skewed shot doesnt work well but this one does due to the juxtaposition and a skewing of time lines...

Just getting in here and Sharon, I loved Montreal. I would be most happy to share with you as I don't see it as a conflict to PP. Montreal is a tremendous city I was living in Dorval which I am sure you would know. I cover so much of the culture there as I was there as a kid but in going on my own and just travelling through the city. Sharon, I am not doing a promotion here but it really was something that within the first time of pondering around I was amazed and felt that I was in some place in Europe. I kid you not. I covered more than 20 buildings and 7 of which were churches. It truly was something that I found to be truly amazing. Amazing does not really describe it. But downtown after on my own going out and meeting with people. It was something that was a complete to what I wished to do and wanted to do in meeting people. Diversified.....Montreal is one of the most diverse places I have ever seen in my lifetime yet aside of New York.

I literally took the picture off my flickr account as you know I have always used it but I have to take some time and format this computer and place back on my photo editor....however I am not sure what you mean by skewed...

ReplyDeleteNo, I will see something and then thereafter I will home in on what I am finding within what I wish to obtain. I have laid down, turned my head. I have done some rather silly things in obtaining a picture. For me it's all within the angle as well as zoom. It's just my way of doing it. :) I do know what skewed means now without bragging as I am not one to do so, when the creativity gets going, I just love to do many within this manner. As I don't have one of those long zoom attachments. But yeah my head has tilted around several times, yet it's all in good fun. :)

Thanks much just was within your site and Jan I was honest with my remarks. This is not your best picture that you have taken, I feel that I can say this as I feel that we pretty much are good friends with similiar interests with music and photography. That all said, you do have a "juxta" happening within there and it's great. You have been to Spain and within your pic, there is more than just one contrast. Great shot from a multi talented artist. (Thought I would mention)
ReplyDeleteWayne now this is the first of it's kind. How many mall owners, large retailers and all will still have a on going lease on the land but they decide to leave it. I have seen this happen all to often until cities place in bylaws as well as landlords enforce the signed lease. This is sad how land can be left and not tended to and this is the first of it's kind within the theme within Juxtaposition. How this defines it in a manner that sends out a message at the same time. I might be saying too much here but this picture has a mission of it's own. If only the ones that leave land to go like this could realize what a negative contrast it gives. In your state especially usually from what I recall there are great bylaws that are in place and only if they would be enforced.

Thanks Juliana, last night I saw what you placed on and I could see that you were not all that please with it, but I think often we the term "Picture Perfect" brings out the desire for perfection. I read your comment and then I looked for two minutes at your picture and then really the camera and your own "minds eye" was capturing something that was multi dimensional - which does contrast as well you had the color as well as the clarity was right within this them and it was better than what you thought. Thanks with regards to mine, skewed and all its just way I took it and thank you much for your comment. I don't think there is one person that has a "perfect" picture, I think there are pictures that are rendered and there really is art that comes out from what we see within our own minds eye. The vision that we are seeking, that capture, the essence within the time in which we do take a shot. I rarely will just click and run off 500 pictures and then choose which ones to delete as within that very moment I know when I see something what I wish to capture as you have and everyone has within this group.

ReplyDeleteMy shot wasn't taken in Montréal's international fireworks competition, if thats what you refer to. I love the Montréal competition.... OUT OF THIS WORLD. mine was taken at my summer place in the Ouatouais .... (close to Ottawa). Still a very nice demonstration for cottage country hehe.
Ok, as there was one that was done by Benson and Hedges but the renamed it and it was near Dorval, I can't think of the name right now but I don't think for some time Mimi that I will ever see the likes of a city as Montreal. I saw so many place and I never really realized how distinct it was. I loved it immensely.
