Icons Are Remembered

Michael Jackson Dies at 50

I can’t say this surprises however it is sad. At this time I am not going to go into what I would assume was the cause of his death but there is no doubt that his music had a profound impact on me. He was sensational and then he just went down the same direction that Elvis had as well as so many.

In my own collection of albums that I have in storage are pretty much everything under the sun. Only when 2000 came around it seemed that he was on the decline. It would have been nice to see the man make a come back. But that is not the case but gosh I remember the Thriller album, and he was the beginning of the video revolution where image is everything. Maybe if this image thing was not so far fetched as it has become he would have been able to keep his momentum but one can’t make a guess on those things now. In many ways I often told my friends at a certain time that he was becoming a modern day Howard Hughes. And I think that he did. His brothers especially Jermaine seemed to be so settled in with everything and then take a look at Donny Osmond – he went through his plights but he came back. I could write on this as I always wanted to see the Jackson’s live in my teens but never had the chance – and when “Don’t Stop” came out on his thriller album I thought this was something that was truly great – as he had Quincy Jones behind him all the way.

At a certain stage in his life I remember reading on him in the mid 90’s and how he had some things – shall we say he may have been in need of help much like Elvis? Probably so but regardless from the Jackson 5 to his own break away with Thriller which still when you listen to it the man was a great performer.

It’s sad but how many artists go down this path and for whatever reason Michael seemed to make a large change in comparison to his brothers. He will be missed – there is no doubt on that.

Farrah Facet Dies at 62

It’s a sad story as well and from what I understood today she was to be dismissed from the hospital and remarry Ryan O’Neal. Maybe that was something just organized and she was going home to just pass away in her own home in peace who knows again in this case we were prepared for he passing away and as well how she was so misunderstood. In many ways I hear Elton John doing another remake – but that is not likely but I wrote on here back a month ago I believe and as a young kid me and a friend of mine thought she was the best thing next to sliced toast as we were approaching puberty.

And here to how misunderstood she was in interviews and maybe there was a reason for it.  I am not sure about you but I was once asked online as offline if I wish that I had being a performer.

When I see this TMZ and all these young artists and I think I would rather have the simple life. As I don’t think there is much of a life for many of these artists and yet some can keep it together and some end up crashing. I guess some people are cut out for it and some aren’t. As privacy and consideration is not that abundant in this day and age. In conclusion on this day we have had two great rather young performers pass away.

I think it gives much to be considered as well as much to be respected in memory of them.

  2. To be famous is something strange. On one side are the best over all but not necessarily the happiest.

  3. Si in Michael's case, I was a large fan up till the changes started. Ben, Don't Stop till You Get Enough, Do You Remember the Time...the list goes on!
Some handle it well some don't. In these times now I would not wish to be famous as look at how it is for all of them - there is no privacy and we are not taking about these young entertainers but ones that we grew up with.

  4. I wouldn't want to be in the spot light but I'm a quiet person..It doesn't even bothe me for too long to be alone. I like my walks in nature and solitude.

  8. Nice tribute! Farrah wasn't much of a humanitarian compared to Jackson, but she was an icon.
