I went out this morning and how I came to realize that I have literally covered this city within photographs more than the average. Right now the weather here has been rather nice not that cold. I ended up taking a few pictures and then I had a lunch with a friend by the name of Jim as I have mentioned before. As well as his picture is here as well.
I could tell that he was tired. As I have known him for years I asked him why he was. Ironically his statment was, "we are getting older arent we?" Seems that all the buying things for his own family as well as other things have added up. I have not even started to buy anything mind you I don't have a family and I don't know what that stress would be like.
I find that this is the time of the year where there is way too much placed into the commercial side of Christmas. I have always wrapped my gifts in newspaper. Since I can remember and the card has always been that "Magic Touch" if you will and then the calls to those and from seems like on the "DAY", as an adult Rudolf does deliver.
As a single adult I don't place all this "commercialistic, buy it now not later" ads into that much. I used to oversee retail by way of shopping center development and there is one thing to giving a gift with purpose and another to having to give and buy gifts on credit cards - I think you know where I am going with this.
I see Christmas as the time where the meaning of giving. It threads within peace and as well it threads into those which are close to you and there is validation with the meaning between those of which we do deem as that of our own or that of close. I know exactly whom I am going to send or do something with online and/or offline. That is what I find the value within all of this. Up here within my parts where the predominant or what used to be the predominant ethnic group was that of the Ukranians. I am not sure where they stand now as there has been allot of immigration over the last four years. Yet....
I know where I am giving and it is a feel good in what you do in these areas. Santa is still alive and well as he resides within the the souls of each and everyone of us - even those which find they are rugged and tough - there is and always shall be a meaning within the holidays. Even within those which don't observe Christmas - over the years I have found that there has always been a certain something.
So as you prepare - never be within dispair as what Christmas is about is not as much within the giving but more so within the belief and choice of that you take with those whom you deem fit and have had some connection with - I guess online and offline.
Now this is the very same tonation or thoughts which I had while I handled several shopping centres for a company and ironically it never has changed.
It's all within good will.
Some have it some don't....

ReplyDeleteToday the meaning of Christmas takes a back seat .... jingles from tills instead ... when I was a child our gifts were humble and small but the meaning of Christmas was within .Now their is panic buying... credit card dept and on the other side poverty and hardship for alot of people.... bring back those Christmases from way back and let us enjoy it in a more humble way.
Rosie this is the manner of which I see it. This is where the thought is what does count. And all of which you wrote I do agree as material is material but good sentiments are that of value.

ReplyDeleteYes Jack the days do look cold out your way right now and for sure we are all getting older but that don't mean we can't enjoy some childhood fun and laugh hard as much as we can always
enjoy the vid ( click on link above )Jack may it bring back some memorial moment to your hearts delight.
I could not fine the first part of this but place it on as Rosei is a long time friend. And I shall listen to the link Kenny. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to render something within some fashion this was a old cartoon from a time in which I was just a kid.
I am goin out on a limb but if you are able to post the link as well on here to the utube I would so much appreciate it Kenny. (if your online).
I will see what I can do with that and utube too Jack :-)
ReplyDeleteVery well as you had the version of Part One Kenny.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is what we make of it. For us, it's the warmth of God's loving gift to mankind. A celebration of promise and future. We are determined not to commercialize -- and a limited budget certainly helps with that! Gifts made by ourselves gives each recipient a part of our lives. We each have the ability to create beauty to be shared -- Jack, you're multi-talented.
ReplyDeleteGrams, I believe that Chistmas is what we make it. As for myself, I am not overly commercialized, I have seen that one from a retail side. Shopping Malls were and have been a large part of my life. Yet those times are worthy to remember, I don't see this buy into everything now. I believe we do buy and do thing for those we feel for but I think that Christmas has been far too commmercialized. If I was still running malls I would be fired. But I do believe that there is something more within the art of giving. I recall a president of a company that was looking only at the bottom line for the years end in sales. It was called YTD, year to date. Well the date is December and even in early days I would budget as to how much I would spend. Ironically nothing has changed.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is not buying the value of friends and family but rendering the spirit of friends and family - that is my feel and has been for some time.
It is time of love and goodwill to our friends, loved ones,
ReplyDeleteFor Christmas is not buying the value of friends and family but rendering the spirit of giving

ReplyDelete... thanks Jack, and yes, merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart
Felis Navidad ... :)
Now a retro to the past in which some of us do remember.....
ReplyDeleteSome of us remember this as Gildoff was declared a "Sir" by
the queen for what he started with what was called Live Aid.
They were different times but times in which entertainers
came together for a reason during Christmas in London and
within Los Angelas.
A lot could already feel Christmast but there are few who are still finding ways to filled in some to their tables, Jack and to them, to their hearts is joy-filled atmosphere yet somethings's lacking ... to their tables. And that lies the difference between the poor and the rich ... materially.
ReplyDeletesad yet painfully true. My prayers for them ... and yeah, am looking out from that outside and say my prayers to all.
A beautiful renditions of what life is on the outside world. Yet ...
Cheers to mankind, for it's the birthdate of the most humbled son ... Jesus Christ.
Love Celine Dion and 'Chestnut ... is one Christmas song that i love, comes closer to that special night where festivities is of the essence whether dinner tables are filled in or are not. Beautiful
ReplyDelete... have to edit it, Jack. There was a a wonderful song by Celine in the last part . lovely, luv it.
I have to trend these down as I wish to cover a few other musicians
ReplyDeleteof recent with performances during this season.
And its coming very well ... the way you placed in that Christmas songs and captures the essence of the birthdate of Christ ...
ReplyDeleteOh Holy Night ... a lovely, lovely Christmas song i found the most endearing. It's all about Christ and the soul of mankind ... a pure essence of what Christmas is all about.
ReplyDeleteI wish to throw this is as it a fav.
ReplyDeleteSade's treatment of Jazz music i like so much. Sweetness taboo is one of my fave too. Wonderfully lovely and the romantism involved is overwhelming sweet ... hey i luv the way Christmas incorporated there ... luv it, Jack
ReplyDeleteU2's Tryin' to throw around the world is dearly sweet but a little disturbing the way they choreographed that danced bit towards the middle of the song... or am just the one overly-seeing it. Nevertheless, i liked it. It came out refine because of that U2's touched.
ReplyDeleteyeah...but it's Christmas...:)
ReplyDeleteElvie's topped it all ... laughs* i came late too when it comes to his sounds but there's something special too the way he sings. Blue Christmas i luv ...
ReplyDeleteyeah ... it's Christmas ... :)
ReplyDeleteand just about anything happens when performers goes out up at the stage. All in the spirit of giving entairtainment, it came so wonderfuly lovely anyways :)
the soothing voice of Frank Sinatra can not be deny Jack ... just liked the voice am hearing morning, noon and night time. There's just something there ...
ReplyDeleteU2 is actually very new to me. I have listened to someof their songs already yet, i discovered there is still something new every now and then from them. And their song lyrics are liked Kiss ... straight from the heart, so true
ReplyDeleteSure...
ReplyDeleteLets hope that 2012 is a good one as it can be...
ok ... let us both hope 2012 is a good one as it can be ... am sure, with God's grace ...
ReplyDeleteJack ... please allow me to quote unquote this one song ... of yours
ReplyDeleteFor 2012, merry Christmas
Certainly as this mother earth sometimes does rumble
ReplyDeleteBut then again we do all stumble no matter whom we are
There are so many days left and it's not all within what one has done
There are some things is which are just obvious
I have had mixed feelings of the way the times have gone
But I think we all got mixed up
Yet we surrender to what we can grasp
Christmas is that of a season of joy
Music carries ideals
Yet it announces the times we are within
From old to new there are changes
But the greatest thing is there is life
As well as sound
This yeah was a collaboration within a thread
During a season of joy of vibrance
Yet with regard to those of other faiths
2012 is a year which is not of the likes of 2008
Red light Green light and the Strawberry Wine
It's a favorite of some
Whom follow the sun
As Venus and Mars coupled with Elvis and Frank
~ Are Fine ~

ReplyDeleteyeah ... :)
ReplyDeletegood night :)
Happy Trails....to ya.
ReplyDeletehappy trails ... to ya too.
ReplyDelete.. hey, it's getting late, good night Jack :)
I agree, Christmas is very commercialized. The true meaning lies within the heart.
ReplyDeleteGod is love. Spending time during the holidays with my family and friends makes my heart runneth over. Other than our two grown children, the only material gifts we give are to young children. I love watching their eyes sparkle in amazement as they open them....
ReplyDeleteI don't enter into the holiday frenzy ... not anymore. I have had peaceful Decembers since my children have grown up and most of my grands are adults now too. It's a different stage of life. for me ... It's about getting together with friends and family and having wonderful times. When children are around, it's about Santa Claus and presents under the tree. That was good for then and this is good for now. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season Jack.
ReplyDeleteI agree Christmas as become so commercial , I too use the season for helping others, my gifting has calmed way down, now I give because I want to, not because its expected of me.
