Expansions and Renovations at the University

The Academic Health Sciences Project & Student Health Centre

I was able to go and see all that was taking place within this project which used an local architects company
which in early years this city would always have to go looking outside of the province to obtain bids by
reputable construction companies as well as architectural companies. I remember all so well in how we had
to look to Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver to obtain bids on building projects. But now things have changed.
I was fortunate by way of association to meet have a look through this project as it's half way through completion.
I went through this building from top to bottom. I met with the architect, and we took the time to discuss this project under construction.
According to him, the goal sought was that of something which merges the exterior and interior stone with a new modernized design.
This is one of five new and existing buildings on campusthat right now is
under either a renovation or renovation in addition to a expansion.

The feeling is that it shall be one of the top five universities within ten years. Yet it was all to interesting to see
what comes by way of contributions and associations.
To see a work in progress is tremendously interesting
to say the least.

The Health Sciences Building

The Academic Health Sciences project will be more than just an average building.
It's a major investment within the future. When complete, the Centre will be a leading multidisciplinary,
integrated structure, designed to facilitate inter-professional research and learning by faculty and
students in medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and nutrition, physical therapy, veterinary medicine
and kinesiology.

The research, teaching and learning practices accommodated within health sciences will attract outstanding medical
and health specialists to lead the discovery of treatments and approaches to contemporary health issues, and to
practice in our community.


Student Health Centre

What will be the Student Health Centre will be built as a part of this one area called, Place Riel Student Centre which as well is under expansion.

The current Student Health Centre provides a wide range of health services to U of S students, their spouses or partners and dependants from physician care to health education, and nutrition counseling to mental health care.

However, wait times are long and the space is insufficient for the services that are offered and additional services that are needed.

These are two amazing projects are within the process of being done and I am tremendously proud that there is one person that I know very closely has been the second largest detonator to this project.
