They Are Rejoicing within the Streets

Cairo's Tahrir Square exploded in a spontaneous harmony of cheering and fireworks as they celebrated the resignation of a leader that has been in place for more than 30 years. After a historic nearly twenty day peaceful wave of pro-democracy demonstrations there is resolve within and for the people within Egypt. Several hundred thousand protesters packed into the central square screamed for joy waving flags, blowing car horns, jumping up and down chanting in jubilation:

“Egypt is free," "God is great," "The people have brought down the regime."

I can’t imagine how pleased they could be yet it’s obvious to see that we all were sitting and watching this play out.

The country is liberated and now are the times transition as now former President Mubarak is unseen and well gone. Resigning was the only option as I see it, as there was resilience within the streets as well as the world and world leaders watched. With a hope and yet a concern as to what all would take place during the protests as well as now after as there is a process here too where a transition comes to be made. He finally did resigned while he clung on to power but the protesters and people of Egypt where heard.  Meanwhile, many of the leaders within the world certainly had a reaction with much relief. Most definitely a milestone period within Egypt’s history as they press on for democracy and fair elections, with what we hope is a good step with respect to the formulated rules that will come for the land.

Now is the pursuit of freedom within Egypt and that shall be a process as well. Yet within and like any democratic manner the people were heard and the leaders of several nations were heard and finally this one step is finally achieved. Lets hope that there is peace now within the streets of a free Egypt and from rejoicing to obtaining a cohesive democratic state.

As today we saw the stages of history within the making of something that we can identify with.

"What I Will"

I will not dance to your war drum.
I will not lend my soul nor my bones to your war drum.
I will not dance to that beating.
I know that beat. It is lifeless.
I know intimately that skin you are hitting.
It was alive once, hunted, stolen, stretched.
I will not dance to your drummed up war.
I will not pop, spin, break for you.
I will not hate for you or even hate you.
I will not kill for you.
Especially I will not die for you.
I will not mourn the dead with murder nor suicide.
I will not side with you or dance to bombs because everyone is dancing.
Everyone can be wrong.

Life is a right, not collateral or casual.
I will not forget where I come from.
I will craft my own drum.
Gather my beloved near, and our chanting will be dancing.
Our humming will be drumming.
I will not be played.
I will not lend my name nor my rhythm to your beat.
I will dance and resist and dance and persist and dance.
This heartbeat is louder than death.
Your war drum ain't louder than this breath. Haaa.

  6. i hope the people of Egypt are happy now that what their asking is granted, the changes that they were all rooting for are yet to be seen by us who followed their struggles for a couple of days. Am watching the event silently as it unfolds.

Hope for change is the factor that brought them to the streets of Egypt. And that HOPE' may put them to contentment for the next generations of government officials.

  7. I do as well and I too don't know where this will go but these all are human beings and I don't look at things from just the inside and not without consideration to the outside as well. So there is Hope (and this computer is giving some troubles) but that is what I believe in. People from all corners of the world.

It would be a very terrible world if it was just based on ONE TYPE of human beings Maritess.
