Canada and U.S. Meeting of Today.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama declared today that they are working towards a 'new vision' for the Canadian American border that will boost trade between the two countries. One, which will create more jobs but their primary concern, was discussion on security on the border. I was amazed to learn that a predominant amount of the government within America and nearly all of the people, which reside in United States didn’t know that. Now that blew me away to be honest.

Canada is the number one foreign supplier of energy to the United States. Most think it's the Middle East yet Canada is the top supplier of natural gas, uranium, and potash and has the largest amount of natural resources within the World.

For some reason I have this feeling that many don’t know much about Canada yet they do know about there distant relatives but they really are not attune to what Canada is especially when you see that so many don’t realize what is provided between the two largest bilateral trading partners within the entire world. Did you know that Canada was the largest supplier of natural resources?

I have always had a keen thought on these two countries and where they are as well as where they are going too. I don’t see them as being competing countries I see them as to large countries – two not of a exact same kind but two that are side by side.

This Rex Murphy is a very intelligent person up here and I thought I would place a link to his commentary on the recent security reports claimed. I feel that these two countries make for the great team and are great neighbours, neighbors. Do I think much will change yes I think that there will be some more measures put into place with regards to terrorism as has and is always being done. So all in all these two countries do have so much in common but seemingly it's rather different when one right next to the other has no clue of the other. But that is just my thought. Yet many do on both side of the 49th.

  3. The 49th is the parallel border that is the largest within the world that bonds these two nations together.

  10. You're right Jack, I don't really know much about Canada. I'm saying that is my fault though. I can read. And that is what I shall do this month. Read about Canada.

  11. I am an American who lived in Canada for most of my adult life, I know more about Canada than the US because of that, I came home and it is not an easy transition, I had it very well where I was even though the cost of living was increasing. I am hoping that I can make my second home in Ontario one day if I have not destroyed my status by coming home to be near my dad.
In BC Gordon Campbell tried to sell us out on all of our natural treasures, he attempted to sell the Coquahalla (sp) hwy to private American Industry, he broke up BC hydro and p 3ed it ... I still believe it to be Gods country, though.

  16. When we think we are not the ultimate kind --------------------we are one of a kind. I live in Canada and if there is a problem with that. - it's your naive problem not mine.

  20. I did do some reading on Canada over at wikipedia, but due to time restraints didn't get to read everything. I'm not really up on all the international affairs, I try to understand what I can, but there seems to be alot of info missing in the news stories and whatnot. I plan on doing more reading.

  23. It seems cold where I am, but it is a state of mind, 37 degrees is truly not cold when I have lived in minus 60,
I hate politics and I lived them in being a union activist, I am trying to put those years out of my mind and hide my head as it feels like a blender in my head when I try to think too hard.

I do not know where home is, I only know where it is I live. Wikipedia is only as good a source of info as the people who supply it, I wish that the Americans taught our children a bit of Canadian history in school and vice versa.

I have to get out of this boat now, I have rocked it long enough and need to see to some errands.

  24. Nancy in grade 4 believe it or not within a elementary school in Syracuse, New York - I first learned of Canada. I literally kid you not. So in some places they do and it all depends on where you reside but these are two great nations.
