My body is physically growing "old", but my mind is still young. A great Christmas gift would be to be debt free; the house paid for, the work truck paid for, and we can funnel that money into areas that will benefit others.
For all little children to be loved and have the security and comfort of a place to call home. I pray all children of the world who are in abusive situations to be saved.
One reads the news right now and it's something that is amazing in all that is going on. This is why for myself Sherry I am not one for watching much of the news. It's an ideal but I believe that regardless of how small there can be an impact.
A ministry our family has come across is called Compassion International, in which we sponsor a child for a certain amount each month, and that provides food, schooling, ministry, and health care for that child. Any extra monetary gifts like a family gift or a birthday gift go directly to the child/family (no administrative costs come out of that). It's been so awesome to get letters from the children we sponsor, to see photos of what they've purchased with the gift money we've sent, to watch them grow and learn. As we have less and less debt, I'd like to sponsor more children so that they can receive that small head start into a more promising future.
Oh, and I'm not tooting my horn here, just sharing a way that a difference can be made for children around the world. A few of our friends have thoroughly researched Compassion before they committed to sponsorship, and did not find any fault with them.
Oh , silly me. Thank you on both accounts. I pray your wish for Christmas comes true also, especially in healing of health for you or your loved one/ones.

As well, in the past I --------------- ok I do hope my father does still have another year as he has been taken off all his chemo. That would be my wish the gift of life for just one more year.
Here is a blog I posted last December, as Compassion was having a What I Want For Christmas "promotion", asking sponsors to encourage new people to sponsor a child that Christmas. I wanted my friends to see what our experience with Compassion was like. Now, nearly a year later, I have added another girl, Kanyana Joy, from Africa, to my brood. It was her 13th birthday the day I saw her sponsor packet, and I just could not let that slip by. I have done something special for my kids on their 13th birthday, as my parents did for me, and so it seemed appropriate to do that for Kanyana. Sara also has a newer picture of Violet, and Violet is smiling :) May I also say that a goal I would like to work towards is to sponsor the older children, who have been waiting for a sponsor for longer than 6 months. Even if I sponsor them for only a few years, because they'll be too old for the program, I'll have helped them. Then I can sponsor another older child.
Ok, enough blog jacking, Jack! I pray that your father will be granted another year, and more. There is a history of cancer in our family, my mother having had breast cancer in the past 2 years. It's very scary, no doubt. May you be blessed for doing what you can for your dad, and may he have that year you so dearly wish for him.
They truly are. Even the ones who seem to think the world is out to get them and they act accordingly. One just needs to sit back and watch them, look into their eyes and smile at them, get to know them for who they are inside, not just for what you see on the outside. A caring friend can sometimes bring out the wonderful things hiding in the middle of those little folks. And even if you don't see any fruits of your "labors" now, I'm sure a little seed has been planted that will start to grow in the future.

I will read this tomorrow Faye, I just came back to this and it's much too late here midnight in fact. I look foward in doing so. My father is alive and well but he has been taken off his nearly ten year regime with keeping his cancer as as stage 4 non hodgkins dormant. Some actually live for a good five years afterwards however he is alive and well. If all goes well this weekend I shall take him out to his favorite place. You are a gift and this is a surprise to say the least.
So I shall be on tomorrow and I look foward to reading this. Till then.

My one wish would be to find a cure for cancer. We pray every night for the little children on Caringbridge who have been struck with this awful disease.
i'd wish my father to get better. he is a young 67 and his health is such that he doesn't leave the house. a real burden for my mother who is a social butterfly, has lots of friends in the place they moved 5 yrs ago when they retired and now she can't get out much.
I too have a similar situation and when I posted my wish within here many thought there was a death within the family. But that is not the case. Hence I wish to write about it Kim.
I have everything I need the most . I have wishes for others though so many it's hard to come up with just one. Peace is always good
