It literally has effected without any doubts people around the world just for the sake of recognition and gratification.
Amazingly within the Pentagon there was a soldier by that name of Bradley Manning and to think that there was a hole within security and that so many things have and could be exposed it really makes on think as to what really is held within confidence these days. What is most important to note is that there was obviously a weakness within the system. I am sure that has and is being address when these recent classified documents started to hit the Internet as well as the media by way of all media.
One would hope that the media does recognize this as well - one hopes. To think that someone was able to expose some of the most delicate classified areas and then to have it available with the interest of selling papers and the cost of national security.
There was no justice with what Assange's work or for that matter WikiLeaks. It anything it was something that illustrates the weakness within the system and the need to recognize and address matter so that they cannot be so simply breached as what has been done and has been exposed of recent.
I have always believed within freedom of speech and as we all know there has always been this slogan that everyone is free to do as they wish. Assanges actions should serve as one if not the very last example. It’s far beyond what we call the freedom of speech. It’s a crime that not only affects one country and does such a disservice, it’s an act that has made a grave impact within the diplomacy and security within the world.
As what was done literally is at the cost so many countries around the world. I don't believe that these actions in any manner are within the realm of Freedom of Speech and should serve as an example of the pros and the cons of what does take place by way of technology...
For the American it is treason and for the wiki leak guy he has a Hitler complex thinking he alone can manipulate the world at his bidding. he should be an international criminal with every country involved after him . He can be found if the reward is big enough.
ReplyDeleteLast night Multiply was so strange and I just decided to turn it off and I this was a write that I was wanting to place on Tee. But within the last 24 hours I am sure that much has been done within the name of security measures. It literally effected many corners of the world.
ReplyDeleteyes, i was thinking of teason as well. definitely not within freedom of speech. and now with the internet information can be so wide spread so quickly. the only way to stop it is to catch the person and have them severely punished for their actions.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, it's not...I ponder on how all this shall go as I have not been on here since yesterday within the internet we have came a ways where there once was entirely a freedom within the Internet - yet you have to ask yourself when things like this take place regardless of where they do. It really ruins the security and protection of our world.
ReplyDeleteLook Kim at how many confidential documents have already been exposed. I have yet too see where all this has went as I just arrived on here but it's something that I would consider a profound breach.
Julian Assange is only the public representative of Wikileaks. It is not as if the directors of Wikileaks go searching for documents and secrets. They are submitted anonymously. I agree with you Jack in that it's not so much the information that is being leaked, but who is doing the leaking.
ReplyDeleteToni, regardless of where how this took place, it was something that I was writing last night and Multiply was acting up but it's an area that your country, the on I live in, and all nations that are within a democracy - have security measure. How this all happened was by way of one that was able to transfer confidental information and it took till Assange most recent actions that then everyone within the US as well as other countries started to make calls.
ReplyDeleteThe leaks have happened before, not just now but this one I think will cause a shut down of the entire site - but I could be wrong.
Sometimes that freedom of speech or the so called freedom of the internet is often times abused and mis-used by individuals who only have one thing in mind, that is, - to create havouc and if fueled W-A-R. With all these hight technology that we have, can we at least have some internet trailing or paper trailing to catched up that person/s. And one more thing ... i followed the story and no matter where i swicthed on the channels, i can't hear the news saying or explaining what is that matter/s.
ReplyDeleteAnd my question now is ... heck, what is the big news :)
... just a piece of thoughts. Good morning, Jack.
Yes, Wikileaks have been going for about 3 years and I thought the last big one, revealling what US soldiers actions were, was a disgrace. And I think you are right in that the site will be shut down....as it should be.
ReplyDeleteYeah Toni, they were were shut down nearly earlier I believe in 2007, then as well they nearly went bankrupt, and then came back online in 2010.
ReplyDeleteThat's right. I wonder who funded them after that?
ReplyDeleteSushine Press I believe.
ReplyDeleteFreedom of Speech has been taken too far. I rather doubt that THIS is what our forefathers were referring to when they proposed this. This sort of thing would have been deemed as treason in those days! Heads would have been hung! It should not be excused or allowed, if it compromises national security. A line needs to be drawn somewhere, and boundries especially regarding the internet, obviously need to be made.
ReplyDeleteI think for the most part Sous it really is something that people don't speak on topics as such about when it compromised international security as well, there is some need to do something the one thing I am unsure of is if this Wikileaks it part of Wikipedia.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, this is treason and, personally speaking, he should be shot.
ReplyDeleteSue, my question is was he employed by WikiLeaks which I think is apart of Wikipedia?
ReplyDeleteNo, its not part of Wikipedia. They have put out a statement saying they're not affiliated with WikiLeaks at all.
ReplyDeleteThank Sue...it will be interesting to see if not already if they are shut down.
ReplyDeleteI seen it hit the news on tv an newspaper in france this am. Interesting to sit an watch.
ReplyDeleteYeah I just read right now with regards to France Cinn - ironic :)
ReplyDeletebut this is the way of the world now days it's all about self glorification as people will sink to any level to get what they want even at the cost of another person or country sadly even things that are done in best intentions can often create a problem without a person even realizing it before it's too late. I still believe anything that is told to the public should always be told in the best interest of the public. things like this only serve as a warning for governments to firstly set better practices with inside the system to stop leaks and other forms of corruption happening but that would only happen in a perfect world
ReplyDeleteI don't often write on this as last night I was really reading up on all of what was happening and after a full day, when I came back either it was this computer or multiply but it's something that truly believe in as well. There will never be perfection however there still are good measure rather than one's like this. Coming from a background within my family where there is a tremendous knowledge share on this Ken I think that this was something that truly went astray. Our right and freedoms are based on that some information does not get out to the public. Some do believe in that and some don't. But this did place a wave throught the world.
ReplyDeleteI think of a few things the status of security.
How we regard why we have the freedome we have.
How security could have been so easily breached by way of one that was working write within the Pentagon.
Look at China and I think you will see that there is information now out by way of this.
Look at several leaks now that have already began in several countries.
What we have within what we call freedom, is by way of a alliance of confidental matter - that never gets out.
I certainly would never have thought that could be penetrated.
I do agree and sadly it is going on and has been for a long time it's only every now and then something like this hits the media on a bigger scale and then becomes in the public eye.
ReplyDeleteIt does, as I have been writing I have been reading and posting. I have received a few pm's aside of this and most probable the write was place on here sufficiently.
ReplyDeleteI can see some errors within my grammar, but when it comes to this sector I do have a passion with.
the pentagon papers
ReplyDeletesi...
ReplyDeleteI seem to be almost totally out of sync with everyone here. I'd have to say that there's some classified information that should never be exposed, only for the security of this nation.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, this government has buried, hidden, & refuses to expose documents demanded of them regarding under-handed deals/negotiations that are criminal.
How do we evaluate this? Risk v information that is the peoples' right to know?
I'd have to give this a careful think before expressing a definitive opinion.
I don't want to know the truth, I don't want anyone else to know the truth....let's punish those who would tell the truth; it's unAmerican.
ReplyDeleteSig, there will always be a risk within the information age. There are past documents pending each countries own rules as to how they allow information out but yes you are right there are some things that are done, by way of many. But that usually comes out recently. I think that in due process when this information comes out it should be privy to us to know. But while something is ongoing I don't think it's our right to know every detail as to what it happening.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone could evaluate it with the exception to those that are very well rounded within international affairs or has studied them.
Risk vs Information of this kind I feel right now is not for us to know. Did we know exactly how the air strategic command of the Air Force won the 1st Gulf War?
Really no. This is something that there is good areas in which Sig I believe we can have information. I know where your coming from and I wish to know what's going on as well but how do we decipher the real from the biased news? (You know what I mean)....
Sig you a very smart chap, I don' wish to keep posting on this but it's really regarding international affairs within nations not one nation. Look at how China was exposed, France, Canada the list goes on, and they were sensitive communications. I don't think that you wish nor I our private emails at work or otherwise to be opened and placed on the tabloids.
At the same time, this government has buried, hidden, & refuses to expose documents demanded of them regarding under-handed deals/negotiations that are criminal.
ReplyDeleteHow do we evaluate this? Risk v information that is the peoples' right to know?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure how this is processed some does get out and some doesnt. However I know what you mean Sig. There is some value in this
but I can honestly say I don't know the answer to this one Sig but it's a great question. I love this CNN's keeping them honest.
Nor I with what was done.
ReplyDeleteI agree there is a delicate balance between confidential info and the public's right to know. I also agree that this guy abused his freedom of speech. I don't think some people get that freedoms have limits at times.
ReplyDeleteThought provoking piece, Jack.
There are so many things now that are sensationalized and place out there I really don't get it where there is so much money being spent such silly things, to me there are things that have always been rather obvious Patty. I enjoy to think and write when I get on here. But since I did get some pms' I thought that I would write the recap that followed as I was not being anti american here at all. I have said it before and will say it again I have privy to live in either country as I was born and raised in NY and then when my father retired I came to Canada. I see things from my own experience and there will be gossip and then there are some that realize that I just merely like to write on something and engage in it.
ReplyDeleteJust today came out some leaks with regards to Canada's communications with USA - I don't know if I wish to carry on with it but I look at things within a world view.
"""initiativestain wrote today at 8:39 AM
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things now that are sensationalized and place out there """
this I believe is where you hit the nail on the head Jack far to many things now days are over dramatized and that where the problem really starts the media are as guilty as sin for doing this too afterall they care about is the next quick dollar lol " hey buddy can ya spare a dime" I just remembered that old bugs bunny cartoon.
But seriously the most import things that do effect people's lives are the one the media chases after like mungler dogs hungry for the smell of a blood stained rag.
Very true Ken.
