It's been a long time since I have ever posted a video on here if need be just delete it. There are a few country singers that I have actually enjoyed for some time. I am sure you remember "When the Sun Goes Down" as it really brought Kenny up to the charts but this song called "Anything But Mine" has a great lyrical content and he certainly is a great performer. I thought for the first time in some time that I would post this.
Walking alone beneath the lights of that miracle mile,
Me and Mary making our way into the night,
You can hear the cries from the carnival rides,
The pinball bills, ski ball slides,
Watching the summer sun fall out of sight,
There’s a warm wind coming in from off of the ocean
Making its way past the hotel wall to fill the streets
Mary is holding both of her shoes in her hands
Said she likes to feel the sand beneath her feet
And in the morning I’m leaving, making my way back to Cleveland
So tonight I hope that I will do just fine
And I don't see how you could ever be anything but mine
There’s a local band playing at the sea side pavilion
And I got just enough cash to get us in
And as we are dancing Mary’s wrapping her arms around me
And I can feel the sting of summer on my skin
In the midst of the music I tell her I love her,
We both laugh cause we know it isn’t true
But Mary there's a summer drawing to an end tonight
And there's so much that I long to do to you
And in the morning I’m leaving, making my way back to Cleveland
So tonight I hope that I will do just fine
And I don’t see how you could ever be anything but mine
And in the morning I’m leaving, making my way back to Cleveland
So tonight I hope that I will do just fine
And I don’t see how you could ever be anything but mine
Mary I don't see how you could ever be anything but mine
And in the morning I’m leaving, making my way back to Cleveland
So tonight I hope that I will do just fine
Hey, I don’t see how you could ever be anything but mine
This is a brilliant song.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you posted it. I have not heard it before.
Have a wondrful evening
Great song, and I like his voice! Thanks for posting the lyrics, too, Jack! For some reason, country music always makes me a little melancholy. Yet, I enjoy listening to it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! :)
He has always been a favorite of mine...thanks
ReplyDeleteI have always loved country music. Chesney is a fave of mine.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of country music but I like this- thanks for sharing it-
ReplyDeleteLove this song & Kenny!!
ReplyDeleteHe's terrific isn't he??! He has so many hits and rightfully so. Thank you for sharing this Jack. :) Please allow me to share my personal favorite .....
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching videos. Sometimes I just keep typing in names of songs or the kind of music I like listening to and I find some really incredible songs. This song is pretty. I like a mix of music and though I'm not the biggest country fan some of them I am like this one is pretty. Country love songs are nice. I like the song Keeper of the Stars too and Alyson Kruass is good I probably spelled her name wrong..
ReplyDeleteIronically as I know I have posted Beatles and all there are a few and if there is one thing Chesney has been one great singer and performer that I have enjoyed for some time. I really kid you not. Some are prone to just country where I have always loved several artists. I guess country music is not really all that country it seems to be the area where there is "rootsy" music, not all, but with some.
ReplyDeleteMaggie no worries at all as this is a great song as well and to each and everyone, I think that country music is something which has emerged as being one of artists that are true to their music and if they obtain a hit, it's great - if they don't they know they were true to what they were writing. Rock n Roll really came from country music when you look in the past and I am not much into Lady Gaga or some of the others but as I so often said music is what make the world go around.
The last year I have not really kept up on all the new songs that are out there but I found this one and before I headed off I thought I would place it on.
I am sure there are many great country artists, yet it's a new country style coupled with the foundation of the old country that we used to know. Back some time when I heard this song playing called,"When the Sun Goes Down", I thought to myself this is a hit, and then I really took to some of his songs. I don't know whom Alyson Kruass is Cheryl but I will have to look it up. However Cheney his lyrics and sound...it's great to say the least.
It's fine and thanks Maggie~ great song....
ReplyDelete,i liked this song ,and his singing ,thanks !
