~ For this day, it was worth dwelling on this milestone in Iraq and on some grim numbers: more than 4,400 Americans dead and some 35,000 wounded, many with lost limbs. And on one number that American politicians are unwilling to mention: at least 100,000 Iraqis dead. ~

  1. This is war and its ugly truth. My heart goes for both parties and to those unwilling victims.

Love and Peace is sometimes just easy to say but hard to lived by ...

  2. 600,000 Iraqi citizens I believe Jack...any number is unacceptable...this was an unnecessary war that should have never been well in my opinion anyway.

  3. President Obama, lived up to his promise as he is bring home the troops...the man has been so scrutinized for so many reasons, yet he has done good within what he wished to do. So I applaud him, he could be black, white, as far as I am concerned he is truly a man that shall go down within history I do believe.

  8. Sharon we all have that right to write. I find that now and then it's fine and some may not like it but he has done very well considering everything
    he has had at hand.

  10. I always maintained that it would take two terms for a President to really be able to pull America's economy back as there was so much that a leader that went into office would have to tend to. As well, it effects countries globally and I believe that he is trying his best.
I think this all has been something that has taken patience, and some wish for a quick fix however patience sometimes does lead to success.

  12. Well said Sharon. Although being President means you have to bear some of the blame of your predessors, I do believe some of this is just mean-spirited partisanship. No human being is perfect but Obama said he was going to get troops out of Iraq and he is doing so in an honorable way.

Whatever we think about the reasons for the war, or the lack of any good reasons for it, we are closer to getting out. And I say Amen to that.

  16. We watched the President on TV last night, and we also watched the televised ceremony on CNN this morning of the vice president formally handing over responsibility for combat operations to the Iraqis. While watching this, I was brought to tears as I thought about all the men and women who lost their lives on both sides. We owe them our eternal gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice. May they rest in peace.

  17. As within our when there was the beginning of our countries, we were a "virgin" land. The Americas literally were something that Cortez as well Frontenac (might be wrong) came to and within the Americas were are rather new. Maryanne I mean if we compare ourselves to any other country overseas we are like a baby in comparison yet America, came into something within it's history. We are not living within the 70's as I remember and recall seeing on the television all the troops coming back. This is not that many thought it would be but this is something that much more thought should have been place into however George had a vendetta, as his father was so heavily tied in with the "good" Bin Ladens.....I think with all taken in accord this is the right thing and for anyone to think that Canada isn't playing a role, well they are you just don't see them on the radar.

Peace is a quality that we talk about but I find that the President did good. With all things considered. I am sure the gents on the ground, within the air, and on the seas would applaud him with his organized plan.
