Determination

A Small Kind of Assortment

Here we are in the middle of August now and this morning it was again cool. I wished to go out and just take a few pictures but there is nothing like it when it feels like Autumn and yet it's still summer. So I went around to various places and really couldn't find much that I wished to take a picture of, I almost feel that I have cover this town last year. Ironically while I was in route to the university grounds here I found a man that was within his 70's. He had went through a mild heart attack and then at the same time some sort of condition caused for his legs to be amputated. I pulled over and struck up a conversation with him and we hit it off very well. I never will just take a picture of someone without indicating what I am doing.

What I came to find is that older folk seem to have that tenacity to keep things going. He had this procedure done just three months ago with his legs and after two months he started to walk along with these poles.

It's rather interesting how some people have that inner spirit or determination to keep things on the up and up. I wished him well after we talked for a few moments and it was something that I have always seemingly found. That is that in some way shape and form there is something that elder people have within them generally speaking. He said that within two months he plans to just be walking with a cane. I bet he is right as in the manner that he spoke one could really see that he was one that does not give up.

I think there is something to be said for that. There are those that are very determined within there own ways. I find that there just perhaps the elder people have lived in times in which they have a great way of rendering it.

  1. Determination, yes, sheer determination keeps this very brave man going, I really do admire people with difficulties such as this man has, they seem to be strong and soldier on regardless .

  2. So true Rosie. I was surprised as it's been a day of pouring weather and then the sun will come out. Yet while I was at the nearing the end of just taking some pictures I saw this person and very brave and courageous indeed. Determination is something that I believe is within all of us yet from what I have found there are several different types of people and as well somehow age plays a large role from what I have seen. Some would stop and get all down and then some make the best of what they have. I guess it comes down to is the glass half empty or is the glass half full.

  7. Caroline, I think there are many like this and what I think that within each and everyone of us there is that amazement, it comes sometimes when we least expect it. However that being said it has been a time where it's been raining then sunny it's a back a forth type of climate here since I arrived back home here.
So hopefully in a few days it shall take a change. Early within the morning it looked like this, so its everchanging right now but so be it :)

  8. Lord, bless him. What I see is the will to keep on, he's made an excellent choice there & so we all have choices in different ways to persevere.

  11. I love this time of year also, the warm weather and the little signs that mean fall -and winter- are coming. This man is amazing. Many would give up and spend their days in a wheelchair, but what he knows is that life is meant to be lived! Thanks for posting this story of determination, it's quite inspiring. I have been dealing with an autoimmune condition, nothing compared to what he has been through, but quite frustrating. If he can get up on his feet when he has none, I certainly can deal with my minor problems. Have a wonderful Sunday :)

  12. Thanks and the same to you this is the coldest day on record here.... now I don't sound that determined, but there is something to being determined, it seeming comes as we all have it within us and when health matters arise or areas of challenge most often there is a rise to the occasion. Right now even for myself, I found a significance within this as I have two knees that shall work done on this week or next. So I can understand where your coming from and I will head out but then I have to just take it easy with my legs as there is no cushion between the knee joint, so it shall all work out. But determination is something that is derived in a manner that is really mind over matter. A great Sunday to you as well.

  13. Jack- one of my favorite sayings goes something like this- "The worst that can happen probably won't, and if it does, you'll deal with it". Hope all goes well for you, take care, Loreen :)
