Winter

Picture 012 Well from what I can see many have had huge amounts of snow in some areas that it usually does not take place it seems. Here this morning this car I have for the embetween time till I buy another wouldn't start even while plugged in. It was dark still and here everyone was pulling out booster cables and helping each other in starting cars. We went so fast from a very mild climate to one that really came to be very cold. When Celsius hits -38 it's the same in Fahrenheit and this morning as like the past two days have been this way.

It's the season and seemingly everyone is in that mood. When people come together and assist each other it's truly a nice thing. Mind you I froze my behind off. But it's a time where you forget about how your dressed and you just adapt to it. One of these nights here - as I do have family matters at hand - I do wish to get some pictures of the city here and show how it looks now with this new camera. It's all rather neat in how we can do that type of share as it's really like a community of people here within blogging that several writes and pictures have been with regards to the weather.

Getting things done, seems to be what happens during this time of the season. And within all of that it's all really about the spirit of Christmas coupled with so many things. As the old saying goes, "do onto other". Well, that was relevant this morning and here we are closing in and nearing to that special day. The season brings out the best within people I think offline and online.

Perhaps this year will not be a typical time, but one makes the best of it. Some have done all their shopping and I have yet to do my shopping but shall I have no clue as to what to get for family and my one cousin and a couple of friends but it's more of the thought. All too often I think the season is overblown and people spend, but it's more of the spirit of things.

  2. It's nice to have people you know you can depend on in a crunch, Jack. and as long as what you buy is bought with attention to who you're buying it for, it doesn't really matter how big it is, does it, my dear? it IS the thought that counts! I'm glad your spirits are rallying, my friend!

  3. Oh yeah regardless of areas right now, certainly I am and despite the harsh cold these last few days have been going fairly well and seemingly right around the corner there is something good that comes out of things Arielle.

  4. yep, it's a nice thing when people help each other out towards a complete stranger at times. but, we all are the same aren't we? we are someone's son or daughter somewhere. or a sister or a brother, a mother or a father....and it's nice when we can treat other people like we would our own family. all of my gifts have arrived and now I just have to wrap them all up and put them under the tree! I did really good this year too and didn't spend much at all - which is really the way it should be. Christmas time has come to be too commercialized in this day and age. I look forward to your pictures from about your town with your new camera. I really enjoy viewing your pictures. Pretty soon you will be receiving your card as I mailed them all out a couple days ago. Not sure how long it takes to get to Canada.

  5. Terri most definitely and what there is really just two weeks till Christmas, and yeah it's very nice to have people /neighbours that are as such. So this is that time of the year.
And before you know it it will be over with but at the same time my hopes are all things come together and you render the best...

  6. Gosh Sue you know I posted that back before family matters happened and you know I only have a few addresses and I am going to be sending them late but I am sending. It's all about the thought I think, but look forward to it and as well I forget where that blog. But I shall be sending out cards but family comes first. We all are the same in many ways as far as equality. I don't believe that one is better than another. But we just throw that to the side and we honour what we do value.

And yeah it is very commercialized - it's the simple things that count...

  10. A very Merry Christmas Season to you and a Happy New Year as well.
Yes there are huge amounts of snow in many places. Yesterday I talked with my sister in Northern Michigan and her husband had already cleared the driveway 3 times in the same day..they had a couple feet of snow and more coming! They live along Lake Superior. So much Lake effect snow!
Here we have only got a light dusting of snow . Monday morning I did get out and take pictures before it all melted, it was the first snow of the season.
I started off this Holiday Season a little depressed as things are tight with money this year and having 2 in college..It's hard to spare much but as time went by and I started decorating and listening to the music and seeing the excitement on my little grand childrens faces over the tree and everything I started to refocus my thinking about what it is all about. Small gifts this year for the little ones and something to open for the college kids who will be home...other than that my gifts will be some baking and my Grandma's 1957 Gum Drop Cake Recipe. That's now tradition..just getting together with family and friends is the best part,,

  12. This morning the same thing really it's windy and cold and you have to start the car and just let it warm up for half an hour otherwise your block (radiator) will completely seize. We havent the snow but there has to be some light to this as it's very hard on the bones to say the least. Money.....and all. I will be up to see both folks and they both are doing good in the manner that they are stable. But well I worry that she will not return back mentally as for some reason my mom is delerious - they say it's due to the term and length of pain - I don't know with this one - money I could worry myself to death but I don't and I have saved and put away since I was in my twenties but I hold onto things. This camera that I was speaking about recently. It literally took me four months to make that decision and I hope tonight I can get out and take some pictures. I read your blog Cheryl and the last one was one the goodness and the sorrow with this year. And last night I left off feeling that you were down. But that is not your way. Never was.
Everyone gets down sometimes and with the holidays I do think there is too much placed into them in the material sense. This year for me is going to be alone unless some family comes. And if so, I decided that if my folks are still in the hospital - which I will see and know before the end of this week what I am doing is going and offering my hand with the Salvation Army as they have many places here but one especially that does something very special for Christmas supper. I made that choice earlier on and if they accept people still to help out - that is what I am going to be doing.....
I kid you not I used to fly in and have all my gifts and I would pick a theme, I remember one was pizamas - and I would get the best of the best and wrap them up in newspaper, with the main effort placed on the card. As the card to me and what one writes within it is truly the gift....

  13. Caroline yeah this place is, but my big thing is the temperature as it's much colder than what is to be expected. We usually will get this for a week in January and then it's over. But not one to complain, freeze when going out and starting the car and leaving it there to warm up for such a long time - it's not right :). And it's burns up gas like you would not believe....

  16. Good to read of your good vibes.

Not many of us really need any more stuff. :-)

Sun here today after such a lot of rain, but not cold. I remember I learned that 40 is the same in both C and F when we got a flight plan and it said the same temperature for both, this was at 30 000 feet though....

  17. Hi Jo! Yeah I know I saw that the airport near Dorvall was almost closed yesterday. Oui such is life!

  18. Yeah DJ they both equate to an equal when it reaches - 38 in either temperature. Here we don't have the snow but we have certainly had the cold but seemingly the temperature has went up to a hot - 25c :). And here one does not have to be up in the airspace to feel that temperature as it usually takes place in this part of Canada
in January. But as Jo mention whom is from Quebec "welcome to Canada" :).
