The Final Merry Christmas of 2009

Heading out for an early morning run and then heading to visit my folks where the two priorities of my day. Yeah it's below zero here. I dressed up and took a good 20 minute run. Aside of the fact that my eyelids were all frozen up to the point that I had to take off my gloves to take of the ice - it felt good, coupled with meeting and seeing the smiles of two that brought me into this world on this Christmas Day.  I knew this was not going to be a typical Christmas but yet what really is typical these days? Last night was a very nice evening and well here it's the eve of a day that we have been celebrating. I feel that each day has the merits of doing something yet one can only do so much and it's all within a cadence. Nearly everything is closed down.

So it's been primarily an indoors type of day and now as time goes on the days are going to start getting shorter as we have now already past the dateline of the Equinox. You know in many ways I think that there is far too much commercialism put into occasions. I was talking to my mother and father today at the hospital and it was good just talking with them. How she went on talking about "the good old days". They used to give simple gifts such as fruit and candy. Yet maybe just maybe there is an obligatory tendency to spend, spend and charge. I have my own thoughts on that but yet it's the simpler things that are precious. Having done my own style of gifts for this Christmas Day. It’s been an atypical but good Christmas. Yet then again what is typical these days?  Typical is what we do within our own days and lives.

~ And here comes 2010 ~

  3. Rosie, in some ways I think that we are missing out on those things that are significant. Yet then again I could be old school.

  7. Those of us who have actually made hand-made gifts.....crafts or jam or artistic efforts... can appreciate the time and trouble and thought that goes into such a gift. I have seen people who don't do handiwork, put such a gift aside with little appreciation shown for the hours of work involved. It's sad really.

  11. what i fear we have lost is the truth that love and family are not a "season" but "being"----aging and illness are a part of "being" as are growing and independence----a circle amigo that we travel---es bien---for we are never too far behind nor ever to far ahead---si?
