~ Lest We Not Forget ~

I will never forget the day and last night I was visiting a few sites with regards to September 11th. I hope to write a few things on this but I worked within the twin towers part time while I ran my own consulting office. When I arrived back here within Canada I did have much going on but I will never forget being called and told to look to see what was going on. For the entire month I spent it just keeping up on all things. I thought of my my wife (not ex), I thought of one very good police officer and back then I was really overwhelmed by it all.

Ground Zero the truth of Sept. 11's legacy - of what it means to respond to a terror campaign with heroism and love for our neighbour - is a message that gets hijacked so often with many other things but it's a time within our history that I think is one that we do pay tribute to all that had passed away. As so often what I have found is that this very important date does get hijacked with so many other things that the message of honoring those of that date sometimes gets complicated within politics. Yet those that passed and how what I consider the best city within the world literally was torn. But then rebuilt. There are several areas to write about within this but honoring those that have passed away during a time that so much happened within such a short period of time. I think that internationally we all were glued to our televisions, telephones.

But the message here is I hope we don't forget to honour those of that very day. Here if you wish are a few interesting links:

There are many pages but I thought it's something that we can ask ourselves if we would have been better off if it didn't happen? And there are so many things to consider. For myself, I recall it all to well. If well is appropriate. But there within the twin towers there was a back area which looked upon docks and as well condos and I will never forget going outside as I was running this databasing for a company there - so I went and had back then a cig, at 3am in the morning and I remember looking up and one would not realize how large these buildings were unless they had seen them within person. Certainly they are not there and there is much that is being discussed with regards to all sorts of things but honoring a day is not about anything more than paying tribute. I shall write on this as later but you might laugh but yep that is myself and my former wife. I wish to continue a series and this would be considered an something that America went through but I can assure you that people from all over the world were effected by September 11th.

  6. I dont think that day will ever go without thoughts going out to all who were involved.
Remembering that awful day, glued to television and radio it seemed almost macabre, living every little snip it of information and trying to see past the sheer horror of what was unfolding.

    less we never forget them.

  7. I shall never forget my initial reaction when I first saw live coverage. I was still living in South Africa at the time ... it felt unreal .... almost like watching some strange bond movie ......
The events of that day certainly caught the attention of the entire world. A devastating message felt by ALL.

  8. I was at work and myself and another investigator went into the conference room, got it the coverage on the bog screen t.v. and everyone in the office came in and watched it. There were alot of tears and fears. It is a day that i will remember the rest of my life. The thoughts of the officers, firefighters, and people involved in the towers that day will always follow me. I will always pray for the families that lost loved ones in this horrible incident and the families that have lost loved ones since it in the war against terriosim. My first thought was that we needed to make a big sand parking lot of Iraq, iran, pakistan, afgahnistan and any other country that could have been involved.
My everyone remember what 9-11 means and what happened. I feel that its something our media needs to cover everyday from now on. But thats my personal thought

  9. Literally just arrived home Karen and this is not a negative thing but I think there is something to be said with regards to remembering. As mentioned up above and it was not an easy thing but I thought I would place a picture of of a few that are from this time and as well I wish to write further on it on or before the tomorrow. I was thinking about it last night and as well today. I think all too often we get caught up with whom is to blame, politics, etc., but I think it's a time that really is a time we shall never forget from within our own vantages. And I don't think we will forget it, we will and shall remember it.

  10. Lynne, when I first saw it I immediately was on the phone to whom was my former wife, as well to several other friends.
I am not down about it - I was for a good six months,as it was so unreal. Who knew at that time where it came from, but it's something that truly did have a huge impact to say the least. Now I see it not as personal, I, myself have never returned back to NYC since I left but it was a time that there were several things were coming to mind.

History is funny as it's been some time, but it effected everyone around the globe. This is where I see NYC as a very different city, perhaps a city that is very much a country in a way onto it's own. Just my thoughts.

  11. Michael, I think to be honest the coverage within America after it all was not the same reporting that we have now. As what I found was there was more unbiased reporting that was coming out as if I recall correctly, one famous reporter, I forget her name right now - she said that "no one wanted to question what was going on, they took everything in as was told to them". But the first Gulf War was something and then this was a situation that literally was all too close for comfort. But here again, if we factor out the propaganda....it was very tragic. It really changed our lives and our world in comparison to years before. So since all of this happened, I am very content with living here in Western Canada, yet I truly love the America that I knew and spent half of my life within. I remember this first thing that I thought was right after the second collision into the second tower - that is when for me I knew that there was some organization from within or outside that had done something. I think that day I literally called 10 friends within the city and then called some others which were involved within the air force, which would include one within my own family.

Thanks for your comments Michael, your right near one of two main underground bases that are within Canada and the USA that literally observe all of this in concert with other allies.

  13. Yes we are. You are welcome. The whole world changed on 9-11. Nothing will ever be the same. At the time of the incident and several weeks afterwards the media coverage was pretty good. Now however we dont see much about it unless you have satilite T.V. Im hoping that they will at least televise the ceramony they have every year that is dedicated to the victims.

  14. Hey Caroline....I think that there is more to be said with regards to this and there must be a webpage or homepage to all of this but it's something as I mentioned that changed so many things within the world as we know it..I think. Her the very same was done back then and it is a day to remember with respect.

  17. This was one of the most tragic days in American history. It is as fresh in my mind nine years later as on the day it happened. I (we) will never forget. Although we are stronger, the sorrow of over 3,000 killed never goes away, nor should it. May the victims and the heroes who perished rest in peace, and may God continue to be a healing force in the lives of their loved ones.

  19. A very good post Jack, no one will forget that day. I think for those of us that live out of the US remember how it made us feel to watch it in terror on the tv. I remember my worry as they announce that canary Wharf in London had been evacuated in case of an attack. It was a horrific time, we will never forget.

  21. Maryann, I wish to expand on this over the next few days. I have not been back there within ten years and I really wish to embark on something with this as there is no place like NYC as you know and reside there. I would love to get some current pictures of Ground Zero.

There are countless stories from people and people that reside within New York.

  22. I have to get to some other's pages as I do remember Canary Warf and the building but I was never sent there to work with the project so I never did make it to England.

  25. My friend Riete in the Netherlands also had a writing on 9 11. She spoke about how it changed things not only for America but all around the world..I just posted a comment there saying
"We will remember and it has changed things yet we must go on with determination to are deeply for one another and hopefully shine brighter in the talents and abilities that we have in many different personalities. Things indeed are changed but though there is evil in the world there is also a resilient spirit not only in my country but wherever people are able to rise from the rubble of destruction and move forward,,moving forward doesn't mean we've forgotten though,,perhaps it is in remembering the death, injury and destruction that makes us want to honor those who have died and lost loved ones and perhaps the love of country and beauty that gives us more strength"

And yes we do go forward and should..but that remembering is part of what propels us. Thanks for sharing the blog and links. I'm sure being there in NY City is something I cannot imagine. I have heard people who have seen the buildings and the destruction afterward saying you just can't understand how huge this was without seeing it

  26. So keep shining with a heart of compassion..This happened in America but it wasn't about America alone people from all different places and walks of life were in those towers across the world loving people grieved together ..
