Just the Way You Are
Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are
Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

Beautiful lyrics...Billy Joel is a fave of mine.
ReplyDeleteHe's not my personal favorite artist but he IS creatively talented and this is a great tune. :)
ReplyDeleteHe is mine as well Frani, I remember seeing him on SNL and my first thoughts where that this is Paul McCartney. Not kidding. He has as well became better with time and has not lost his voice! A great musician as well as lyricist.
ReplyDeleteThere is a tremendous story regarding Billy, at first ironically I was going to place on the reunion of the Police. But then I saw this and I love how he plays he does really the same as McCartney in the manner that he writes and composes music Maggie....
ReplyDeleteAnd Honesty, and this song and if you remember Allentown. He really is as you say a talent.
I like this song..
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Billy Joel fan but some of his songs rock...this is one of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue, the man was nearing the end of his rope within New York battled depression for years and seemingly came out doing very well, one truly has to respect the man for that mind you many musicians are artistic but this as well as a few are truly an pardong the pun, a New Yorker with a state of mind.
ReplyDeleteOf course I remember Allentown ... tis a hop, skip and a jump from me actually. :)
ReplyDeleteThe lyrics.....there is where I find the meaning. Yet when he wrote it he was merely 21.
