It's a time that Canada Celebrates

The Red and White - Canadian Flag

It's really as simple as this Canada is a country that evolved within it's own manner and on this day of July 1st it's something that from shore to shore is celebrated within it's own manner. I am not sure how to put it but Canada is a country that is vast. Don't think for second that it's not a land that does not have diversity. On a per capita basis it certainly does. In having lived in two countries this is one day in which is celebrated. Canada evolved, Canada is not better, Canada is not anything but just a country called Canada. It's not to compare it's just to understand. It's a silent country that does things within it's own manner - along with many others again within a great manner.

Just keeping it as simple as that,

Jack

  2. Happy B'day Canada ... and we are celebrating too ...on the 4th of July.
Lots of festivities and fire works all weekend here in the States. I don't get too involved anymore, rather like to avoid those crowds.

  5. Same here for this year Frani. And within just a few days more the US shall be celebrating as well. It's still something that I find that we do find
to have of merit - the great freedoms that we have. Yeah...

  6. Old one if I may say but regardless it's a day that Canada does celebrate it's day. As all celebrate or just enjoy the holiday for the sigificance of what Canada is.
I still have yet to ever to really establish what Canada is...I think that may be a good thing.
    Thanks Danette.

  9. You certainly are diplomatic about Canada Day Jack. That's one of the great things about Canadains in general--they don't brag about how much better they are to the world.

  11. I never felt the need Doug as Canada is Canada. Literally I have yet to see a great definition on what Canada is but it's a peaceful country and well here at 6am I am just taking in a coffee and thinking on several things. In a good way for a change. I am very diplomatic when it comes to countries as there has been a polarization of thought. If anything Canada is a humble country. A great morning to you there Doug...Thank for the comment. Last night it was just a gathering of a couple of friends on the balcony and yeah I am here still within Quebec but may be heading to a place in Ontario to see a painters exhibit.

I do look forward to writing something on United States I have each and every year and as I have always mentioned Canada evolved in history whereas America revolted with a by way of the taxes back at that time.

Back to Canada what it is.....is simply Canada.

  12. That made a major difference in national perspectives I think. A country that evolves from another feels itself still part of that nation it derived from. The leaders in the USA felt they could recreate a world of post-colonial countries in its own image. We were different from Europeans. The cord had been cut. We could go into a place like Vietnam and do what Europeans in the past couldn't. But it wasn't so.

Also, Canada needed the CR railroad to really come together as a nation. The United States had to have a civil war to sort out what it meant to be part of one republic. Our divisions were North-South and they remain so to a major degree.

Hope you enjoy the exhibit. It's a good time of the year for that sort of thing.

  13. Pending how things work out I do look forward to seeing if I can do this on this laptop as to be very frank, it's not all that easy Doug. Yet what you said here is so very true. Yes within America it was a North and South thing. Where as Canada it's been over the years a east and west thing. Not now but within our past.Doug you certainly understand a host of areas. Canada seems to be just a people and country that don't take things so seriously. If that is the right word. However as time goes on that is changing, I think really ever since the Winter Olympics as there have been several articles on it.

Again, I do hope to write on it. Believe it or not there are Americans that live within Canada and celebrated it. And as one that has lived there I do wish to write on the America that I know but have not been to in some time.

  14. Your essay on the meaning of the 4th of July is a fine example of a reasonable truibute to an American nation we take for granted---just as Americans like me take for granted our beautiful and vast undefended border with Canada.

  15. Doug if time allows I do wish to write more. It's something I wrote last night and I shall try to write more. Most here don't know that I was brought in the USA - that is here within this blog so pending the time and other things considered I shall if not I will later. And I truly wish you a Happy 4th of July.
Independence is ironically one word that is something that globally it's hard to do. Yet the culture of America, and the patriotic and community driven mentality of what renders a country unlike no other it's a day of barbeques and celebration.
