The each and every moment we are blessed with is limited and tends to be used up all too quickly.
How we utilize that time is consequently one of the most important decisions we make.
Yet it is far too easy to put off until tomorrow what we are dreaming of today.
The hectic pace of modern existence affords us an easy out. So often we shelve our aspirations so we can cope more effectively with the challenges of the present, ostensibly to have more time and leisure to realize our purpose in the future.
Or we tell ourselves that we go for our dreams someday once we have accomplished other lesser goals. In truth, it is our fear that keeps us from seeking fulfillment in the here and now because we view failure as a possibility, our reasons for delaying our inevitable success seem sound and rational.
If we ask ourselves what we are really waiting for, however, we discover that there is no truly compelling reason why we should put off the pursuit of the dreams that sustain us. Within life there is that certain area that we all get around to but the cadence of how we do it is within our own choices.
Everyone has some dream regardless of age from which they do wish to fulfill.
~ It is the way of life ~
What you have written her describes my husband to a T. He is the one putting things off and I am the one pushing. I think we need to meet somehow in the middle because if he keeps putting off, those dreams will not be reached, yet, if I keep pushing he will die of a heart attack and we still wont reach those dreams. Good blog
ReplyDeleteRegardless of age Eliz, without any doubts there is always a manner that one does have a dream or goal - it defines our purpose in life.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were you as the picture shows we would not presume anything - we just did things and within life as we "grow ahead" we still do have that
within us. Perhaps in some manner it just needs to be uncovered.
I have put asside some dreams because first I need to do something more important. I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteEveryone does as we all have our own ways....
ReplyDeleteSome of my dreams have been realised and some changed with time..It's a different season in my life that gives me some new freedom to pursue some of the things I enjoy and can improve upon. Interesting thoughts there. Thank you for sharing. It's nice that dreams are for any age !
ReplyDeleteLife is fragile and short. Try to make the most of it. This is a great blog Jack. Only those who have tasted the bitter cup of life can fully relish its sweetness. Have a wonderful day. Stay happy and be happy!!! As William Penn once said: " I expect to pass through life but once; therefore, if there be any kindness I can show or any goodness I can do to my fellow being, let me do it now for I shall not pass this way again."
ReplyDeleteDreams are for any age Cheryl and glad your computer is working.
ReplyDeleteLife is as such Amy and it's too short. Yet if one renders the best within them they can surpass most anything and live out their aspirations.
ReplyDeleteI like that quote by Penn!

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat picture. What a fine piece of writing.
ReplyDeletebeautiful picture, sums up images of total freedom and running wild through vast fields. I hate to waste anything, and I don't like to waste time either, but then sometimes i feel I should allow myself time not to 'do' anything but just to enjoy the time instead.
ReplyDeleteAmy I am not sure if you are online but I have literally been there and back. And the day is a good one. There obviously is a delay but there are things that I did enjoy and once again I was up early and stretched and then went within my own path - mind you I needed to get a couple of jeans.
ReplyDeleteLorretta this is an old post that I did some time ago and yes it is about freedom of the spirit.
