When you can't think of a good answer.
Yesterday and the last while I have been watching this situation that is unfolding in Gaza. I don't really know what the answer is over there and I do believe in people from all parts of the world, but I really don't know what the answer is there. I don't think one person would.
However that all said, this morning I kid you not over night the pilot light went out on the furnace. So I was back at doing things that I have or must say I am not a handy man. So I ended up calling in someone to fix it. And then I headed of later to do some things around town.
The snow is still here but the harsh cold has finally passed. I had went out and met with a friend and had coffee and then I went my own way and headed to the University. Ironically I kid you not I drove into the Dean's home which is really off limits. But I took a chance, I wanted to get some evening color despite the cold. So here I am parked and hoping that the university police don't come and get me - but there was a figure that was walking down this trail and he approached me while I was getting back in my car. It was the Dean himself. I knew it when I saw him despite all the clothing that he was wearing.
I introduced myself and if anyone does know me I do have the gift of the gab and we talked on some issues that were happening internationally. Thereafter I apologized for taking pictures and he asked me whom I was and I mentioned that and he told me to drive on in and take as many as I wished. The University of Saskatchewan was the first university that I attended but to run into this leader of the University for the last ten years was coincidental and yet it was great. I kept it very conservative but when I had the opportunity to take some of the photos that I did. I was in heaven.
I don't believe I know all the answers to what takes place in this world of ours but I certainly did enjoy taking the pictures that I had although they did not come out right due to the cold. I believe that we live life for what we desire and wish to do with it, and as well I do believe that we cannot solve all the problems in the world. It can never be accomplished but certain things that we are able to do we should or I do enjoy and I know that what my thoughts are and they are rather simplistic at this point which I think is a rather good thing.
The Dean whose name I forget but I could look up is a very nice older gentleman. All the decorations that I could see while I was looking to take some pictures of my old dorm took me there and that to me is enriching.
I don't think any of us know all the answers nor should we think we need to. Sometimes it is just reading and learning. One of my contacts calls Multiply "our university" and she is not far wrong, so often I have found myself learning the answers to questions I would not even have thought to ask, was the subject not brought up by one of my contacts.
ReplyDeleteFor me its all about caring for people, especially the mothers and the children.
Such contrasts in weather - I am melting over here and its too hot to do the things I wanted to do, hence I am spending too much time on my computer today. I am glad you took those pictures, it is always so interesting to see the places where contacts are.
I could not agree more. We do learn things and I know you brought up a question that is one that no one wishes to answer. Or they just wish to waffle on what they would do with Gaza. I do believe that people do care on here and I may write on that situation from my perspective as I used to write on it a fair bit. "Women and children first" as the old saying goes Iri. I agree with what you have pointed out on your blog and I really have read on it I see it on the news and I honestly believe that there should be something done for those civilians there. As I mentioned on your blog and I don't write in fiction at all. I did run into this Dean, and we struck up a conversation after we introduced each other and Gaza came up. I am not kidding you.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a way to get in there and Hamas allows it as they would and it seems that Israel would allow it right now, then I think this is good. I mentioned it before - I think that President Elect Obama is a type of leader that goes beyond just the United States. And there is the key to government dialogue. Meanwhile in the interm what do we do? I don't know. I know Iraq was the craziest thing to ever happen and people paid a large price for all that has taken place there. Russia when converted was the same thing. For myself I feel that there is so many things going on in world affairs. Where is the answer - I am not sure. To be involved and to take action, is something that we have learned that we can't do it fast. Cadence is the key. And I have always been very convicted to what I believe in.
But that all said, without turning a blind eye, I believe in life and in what I have within my own but don't think for a second that there is no concern with what is happening there as it's not a good thing at all. So I am certainly with you in what your writing.
On the lighter side of things, it's been the war we have going on here is called a deep freeze. But we learn to endure it. I thank you and I know you were once on my blog and I missed on what you were writing on several times. But I can see that you are a very convicted person and from here to there I think we are all interconnected in some manner as we all are human beings. I guess that does have a fair amount to say with regards to peace as well as vitality. You have a great topic there and aside of my blog I do understand what your saying and the need over there in Gaza.
Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI have two other contacts in Saskatchewan and I am continually blown away, particularly by Wren's descriptions of living in such cold. I can whinge about the winter here but never have I experienced the constant cold or such low temperatures as you have there.
Some people ask me if I ever get used to the cold here in Montréal.... though its nothing like what your province has been experiencing as of late...... I gotta say, ummm errrr.... NOOOOOOOOOOOO we don't get used to it lololol.
ReplyDeleteNothing to understand
I will retire in another climate. I will if we did not have the deep routed cold in this part of Canada it would be fine. If we had a mediterranean climate this would be the best place to be - my own opinion for a city that is the fastest growing one in all of Canada. > Due to the oil that is now started a large boom as Saskatchewan has the largest reserve of natural gas and oil in all of the Americas...
ReplyDeleteLove this song!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know Mimi, and Edmonton is worse as it's a huge city far up North. When people ask if we get used to it no we don't I dont care what anyone says as I remember when living in New York as a child and waiting for the school bus and - 6 the schools shut down. But at the same time Montreal is 3000 miles from Saskatoon. Canada is the largest land mass in the world and it's mostly covered under ---------- snow hiding all the natural resoures that we have. But we share it and believe in trade.
This morning it's -20c so it's a warm morning and I am just about to go and take a walk as in a week I plan to join back at the gym I love and it starts with a " Y ". : )
The picture looks very nice though being in the midst of the freezing cold weather wouldn't be that nice, I bet!
ReplyDeletehugs to you and warm regards.........
Well it's warmed up and since I arrived back I know I have to get this computer services, maybe it caught a cold : )
ReplyDeleteG'day Jack,
ReplyDeleteI along with many people do not have an answer for what is happening in certain parts of the world and often wonder if it is because I do not know what the question was originally!!! .......I have just returned from a weeks holiday on the farms with temps of high 30's & low 40's & am happy to continue in this summer that has finally arrived, it is good to be warm lol
