IT COULDN’T BE DONE…

A tribute to Roman Kroiter, a man that came from a small town

named Yorkton, that invented the technology for the Imax..

Somebody said that it couldn't be done

But he with a chuckle

He thought it was worth the try

So he buckled right in

With the trace of a grin

On his face, if he worried he hide it

But he never waiver from his pace

As he tackled the thing

That couldn't be done

Somebody scoffed "you'll never do that”

As there is no way you can do it

But he took off his coat

And he took off his hat

The first thing we knew he had began at just that

There were no thoughts with the others

Ponderings galore

If he would succeed or fail

The man did not place thought

For he was busy tackling

What could not be done

Deep within his heart

He knew that could

With a lift of his chin

A slight glow of a grin

Without any doubting or thought

About what it was that couldn't be done

There are thousands to tell him it cannot be done

There were thousands to prophecies of failure

Many to point out things one by one

The dangers that wait to fail

For it had never been done

The man sat down after a week or two

Looking at other things

From which to do...

  1. Great poem & just goes to show that things that can't be done, CAN be done when the right person with the right attitude comes along & tries it. My Gran always said * Never say die till a dead horse kicks ya* Meaning NEVER give up on anything- She sure didn't -

  4. Roman Kroiter resides in Quebec now and as well in the US. He came from a small hamlet outside of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was the inventor of the IMAX technologies. He started the entire project. He thought outside of the box..

  6. I remember the large-scale multi-screen work, Labyrinth that he exhibited at Expo 67 in Montreal. In the same year he co-founded the Multiscreen Corporation, which later became the IMAX Corporation. A great man he is.

  7. This was the real beginning of Imax...
Lise he is and who would have thought that a man would do what he did from such a small town.
