~ All within a Day ~

Unfortunately, when I arrived back to this city, the other day was an icy one and several people were making a turn and five cars in front of mine all hit this median from on street leading to another. So I had the axile and several things that just were repaired.

I have the estimate and I have paid for it in more ways than one. Being a need and not a want there is no choice within this avenue.

I took my car in at 8:00am, and thereafter I headed out to the riverside. I knew that it was a day to place all the work that I have been doing down.

The temperature today was nearing minus 25 Celsius. But it's the first day we have had with some son.

If it was warm it was snowing and otherwise it was cold.
Aside from the car repairs. It all seemed to work out just fine.

  2. Well I took it in and it's another $1,000.00, and I was planning on that to be a camera but not for now. Just getting back home and coming online I thought I would take one day for my own self time. I was not pleased with the price, but it's something that had to be done. Not fun is without a car as I am not one that enjoys to sit around waiting for a call regarding the price tag.

  5. Look at the steam coming off the river. Have you taken shots of this bridge before? Looks familiar, but then many bridges look similar. It's good to get some fresh air and do some things for yourself.

  6. My favorite photo is the one of the bridge with the condensing water vapor.
Sorry to hear you had to dish out $1,000 for car repairs. It doesn't take much to end up with a bill that high.

This line got me tickled. In my neck of the woods, if it's snowing it IS cold. I have heard the expression "it had to warm up to snow" but have rarely experienced it.
Cars can sometimes be almost as troubling as they are convenient.

  8. I like this one. Is that steam, or is it just windy and it's blowing the snow around?

  9. Another good shot. I love how the trees are bowed over the roadway. Would be something to catch the same shot in Spring when the trees are leafed out fully.

  10. Lise that bridge is one that I could got and look on several hard drives and place it on I have taken that bridge from during two summers as well as now and I think that I have placed it on here before. Saskatoon has 5 bridges and they all are very nice. I was looking at bridges and in Baltimore they seemed to have be almost exactly the same. The car is finito and it will service me well as during the time I was living in Edmonton I went literally through 2 cars. One I hit black ice going to the airport on the freeway, the other was a cheap mini van, that the transmission went out on me. So I have had ordeals with cars for some reason and yet I have a rating of 14 which is the highest one can have for driving.
So I did not pay be way of insurance - I paid out of my pocket...I don't want my insurance to go up nor do I want my ratings to go due to the fact that I have never had any collisions - just a clean slate which gives a rating of 14 on my drivers license. So it's all good.

    I love that bridge...http://initiativestain.multiply.com/photos/album/16/Various_Pictures#2

  12. Many times at night during this winter a few weeks ago, I took one of another bridge but this one was in an area that has a large trail you can walk. It's right near this castle hotel that is really the center of the city. In the summer this place is full of people and right now you get a few now and then that are out but only a few. I have come across other photographers doing the same thing or there was one person that was leaving as I was out there and he said "Good luck", as he was cold, and he had finished what he was doing as far as photography. It's interesting some of the people that you do run into. Meanwhile I was just doing some self time while taking a long walk without the appropriate clothing, I came to realize that when you hands start to feel like frost bite - it means they are going to freeze. So I finished off and it was an excursion. Next time I am bundling up appropriately.

  13. Yes and within the summer that is the same place that I will jog.

  14. I used to jog 8 to 16 miles a day - the trek was 4 miles down the road and back. Sometimes I ran morning and evening.

Life happened. I took some years off to care for my aging, ailing mamabird, and her care required constant vigil so such activities went on hold. I lost her a summer ago and it's now past time to return to my physical activities. So, at christmas my elder sister blessed me with a home stepper to get me started. And it's killing me! lol.

I could not even run around the block now. But maybe before too long .... however, I'm a lot older now, so I'm going to go easy on myself and not push for 8-16 miles. I must say, at the time, despite the slight hills I ascended and descended over the course of the run and the asphalt beneath my feet, I did not feel any strain abt it. I enjoyed the runs and the outdoors. I didn't have to push myself. I had built up to it over some time and it came easily in stride. The recollection of the experience makes me long for another go at it.

It's that recollection that pushes me now, more than anything else. There are some few things in life that we are in charge of ourselves, and health permitting, this kind of activity is one of those things we can do for ourselves. Wish me luck!

  15. I would not think about jogging within the weather right now. However I do believe that we do age but each person has there own way. For myself, it's mind and body the two go hand in hand. As well with a respect of what age we are I as well watch that especially with my knees but I find that an activity of any sort does give way to something regardless of what it is.
    Good luck!
