I thought I would mention there is supposedly a virus threat. It's called a DNS charger where your computer can be hijacked. It's better to be safe rather than sorry. I thought I would post this from a site that I do read and the information is contained there - for your option as I just heard of this. If you have a full version internet protection program, you will wish to update as well as run a entire full scan of your computer.     I just checked to make sure there was a link for Canada. I urge everyone to run the check on their computer this weekend. If not they may not be able to log into the internet on the 9th. For the US go to http://www.dns-ok.us/. The Canadian link is on your link.

    I am sure there are a few which have posted but if you have a full version most will request for you to do an update and full scan - as well microsofts defender works. There are many good links with AVG, Nortons, McAffee, and then federal sites.

    two thoughts here. why did our government take a year to warn us? I used the link you posted and alls good. okay three thoughts from a comment above, why is there different links and such for Canada? Isn't the net worldwide? I ask only because I've noticed that many of my Canadian friends can't access youtube links. Does censorship ring a bell? wth?

    When authorities took down the rogue servers, a federal judge in New York ordered that temporary servers be kept in place while the victims' machines were repaired. The temporary servers will shut down at 12:01 a.m. EDT Monday, which means infected PCs that have not been fixed will no longer be able to connect to the Internet.

    "It's a very easy one to fix," said Gunter Ollmann, vice president of research for security company Damballa. "There are plenty of tools available."

    Many of the machines that remain infected are probably not in active use since most victims were notified of the problem, said security expert Johannes Ullrich, who runs the Internet Storm Center, which monitors Web threats.

    Go to http://www.dns-ok.us/ and it will tell you instantly if your computer is affected."

    Often I think that many of these situations are done to make money for the security companies but you didnt hear it from me. I don't follow what others are doing nor do I see Canada ringing bells which you have mentioned here. Be cool.

    I just checked my internet provider and they are directing us thru servers that they know are safe...so I should be ok...I hope.

    Well this is good, I called my tech support and I am all good. It is rather easy ironically there are a few dedicated pages as well Microsoft has a site as well.

    I went to the site to have my pc checked. the results say my pc is fine, but still going to cross my fingers and toes on Monday. Lol

    I read about this. I ran the check from this information. It only took a second and let me know I was unaffected. I was able to cross one computer concern off my list---just 376 left now. : ) Thanks Jack.
