Sometimes I do step back and Ponder

Jax, my friend’s dog seems to do well with just morning walks and a milk bone now and then.  I don’t write that often on politics as I read it all the old-fashioned way in the morning.  There is that trend which some may profile a person as to whom they are rather that taking the time to read or listen. Yet that is so easily done in person. Part of today was cleaning up this building with a few others as it was in need of it as it may serve a purpose.  An organization here in town has been in need of some help, which I partook in.  Now for a building, which is not that large – there were things left go that really baffles me.  Some have that thought that someone else is going to take care of things.  This was one of those cases and nearly the basement was in dire straits to be cleaned up for the need of space.  The first thing that came to my mind was how things are left to go while an organization can function knowing full well that there shall come a time where things get to the point where they are in a crisis.  We cleaned out most of the things which could have been auctioned off or given to charity.  When I see organizations like this, which leave things go yet have an outcry for more money – it doesn’t really make sense.

I think we are moving at a pace where people are so focused that they miss out on some areas – not to mention that we are moving at a light speed of doing things all by a means and ways via the computer. A study showed today that there is the largest demand for skilled laborers and very well versed technology skilled people.  Now those are two entirely different areas.  Something natural is missing within this picture as there is nothing yet that replaces the six senses, nor the human condition.  We are living within an automation world of streams.  I myself can testify that within the evening, I do go online but I still enjoy reading, I love photography, and I most enjoy that humanistic communication.

Are we getting closer, I am not sure as I get emails from the president as well as the prime minister in my email yet I know that to is the huge demand for organizations which produce – they are so good at it that they even have my own first name on each one of them.  I would assume that some of this does hit and make a great impact yet there are areas which technology does not come into the values of our lives.  Feelings are not something that can be felt by way of a sensory device, nor can the discussions between people be made in a spontaneous manner.  Alternatively, the feel of lying outside on a beach, getting up in the morning, and looking outdoors with a coffee within hand and countless other things.  I do enjoy the internet as well as this new era of expression.  Yet does one write for the sake of others or for the sake of an effort to replace the normal manner of communication?  I think your getting my point.  I am heading into the city tomorrow to take care of a few things, which would include one meeting, a check up with my doctor and a quick visit with my folks and one friend.  I know the outcome is going to be good either way it’s not from online it’s by without a computer.  I remember when there was a time in which we just had telephones and faxes.  If all failed within this camugla of the internet would we be less ahead or farther ahead in respect to the human condition.  Accessories are becoming necessities.  They have come to be necessities.  Yet I question are they a necessity in all realms of life?

Regardless one does have to balance it all out yet when I see kids sitting behind a large screen playing games for hours, watching television for hours – are they better off in comparison to the old means and ways.  Are our youth that of a linear style of thinking more so than engaging and understanding life by a natural form of trial and error.

  1. it was a long time before I got a computer, even though most others had one for years. The one advantage to having one is that I have become friends with people I never would have possibly known otherwise. I don't have a cell phone, i-pod, HD TV or other things. I sort of got a bit addicted to the computer and it feels like a necessity to me now. I don't want any of those other things because I think the same thing would happen. Alot of those other things appear and then become obsolete before I ever knew what they were. But you are right---even talking to the checkout clerk at the supermarket register now seems like a major personal encounter to me.

  3. I enjoy both kinds of contact and expression. I can take the time to line up thoughts when I write a post and say things that I might not come out with in an everyday conversation. However direct contact is necessary also. I can live without a computer and be happy, I was and did before, but I certainly do like having one.
I think parents should give their children limits so as to teach them balance.

  4. I have some of the same questions. All I know at this point is.....without having a computer and internet access, I would never be able to interact with people like you. I think its fun and treasure these experiences with the social networks, especially since I don't know when it all might end, never to be accessed again. I'm enjoying it while I can. And I do it because I can.

  5. Computer's life is kinda an wizard, we become bewitched by the false life it gives us, we seem to close, when in fact, we are alone in front of a cold screen. Many people replace the personal contact by the virtual contact. Both are beneficial, if we are wise for using them.
Being in touch with nature is necessary, we are part of it. Dogs, birds, books and music are my passions, not in the same order, but I couldn't live without them.
What a cute dog! I have a boxer named Billie Holiday :)

  6. I confess to be spending too much time online. I've gotten into the habit of looking up everything on the computer, restaurants, travel directions, movies, news, history, books, etc. I'm using my land line less often. I'm watching TV less and less. I like going to the movie theater. I use my cell phone infrequently and I don't text, it's almost always turned off. I don't remember the last time I had photos developed ... they're all in my computer.
I am in touch more often with social network friends than real life friends. I find out a lot of my family news on Facebook. And I often unwind and relax doing puzzles or playing Scrabble online. I can get lost for hours on Youtube. The computer is a great way to be in touch with people and things of interest all around the world. In some ways it has broadened my life ... and in other ways my life has be narrowed. One thing is for certain, my computer is here to stay!.

  7. We've had a home computer for over ten years, I couldnt live without it. Enjoy networking, occasional shopping, it contains a realm of information at my finger tips. etc....A couple months ago as a result of daughters urgency for me to purchase a new Iphone4S, I did. Oh my gosh the possibilities with that phone are endless. Sure beats the heck out of my old flip phone. lol

  10. I firmly believe this regarding children and the upbringing of them DJ. How does a child really learn by the means of sitting behind multiple screens.
I would set limitations - I am amazed what has taken place specifically within the last two years. And the effects it has on the next generation
as I am not sure that there is balance as what I have found is that the children know more than the parents in most cases.

  11. Susan the same goes for myself - as I have not been on since last Thursday and now back where I am I headed out for a run and got drenched. There are good things which go with social networks many some of the reads are so thought provoking as well educational. But there is a balance with it all for me as
I just bought a new phone which I have yet to entirely figure out, and I am slowly building a project. Yet there are times where I just read some areas but I don't feel that need it - yet the manner of the way things are going. It does seem that it's becoming more of a need by way of all the new applications and gizmos which are tied in with all of this. So there are areas which as this new wave evolves I do ponder where it all is going or has it already peeked?

  12. Nature is a great example Elaine. There is a line which one does draw I believed as a screen does not replace the natural things in which we view yet it's a means of communication and thought sharing in balance. Jax is 4 years old and he has a personality which kills me with some of the things that he does. This dog does not have and Ipod but he does have a "I bone". :)

  13. Don't get me wrong Frani, I enjoy this. I do many other things on this as at the moment I am looking for a new camera as well as I have sent a few emails off to some people as well I was testing out Safari as a browser and looking up some historical areas and now I am at the point where there are many things which I see can be done. I could not live without the net I love to write as well there are many things which I as well do utilize a computer for other than merely one. I found that there are times I love to just work on something but yet I have never been one that can sit all day. I find that I used to be ahead with technology and then now there are countless things coming up but I enjoy the process of not too much time yet it has replaced the television for myself as well.
