Wanuskewin Heritage Park - Video.avi

This was a part of my morning while I headed to meet some of the administrators and organizers within what is known as Wanuskewin Heritage Park.

Fortunately for myself after I had met with them there was a university student whom had the time to give me a lift. It's truly an amazing place and I do wish to post some of my pictures as well. Inside its very interesting this history of a culture of peoples. That of the aboriginal or first nations as they are often referred as. But outside it was something that is tremendous. Regardless of how bumpy the ride was. It's within a transition of management but still it's a place that I find that so many still don't know that it even exists.

I am not of an aboriginal ethnicity but this is truly a place which is right up there as the landscapes combined with the cultural heritage is something too interesting to say the least from my scope.

  2. I have been to this place several times and although they are going through a transition within management it's something that truly is the culture of the first people which were on these lands.

I wished to get these on here as it is so much more than what I can really place
within words but it's culture along with the earth. Seemingly the foundation of
a people that were here in very early times upon these lands.

  4. Interesting. Some of the smaller parks in my area are also doing archeological work as well as trying to return the land to the way it looked before European and other plant species came in and altered the eco-system.

  5. Hi Doug, there is so much this place does have and the one thing which has been to the disadvantage is that millions ones have been placed into this place and the downfall the place is that several times there have been changes within the administration I don't know all the details pertaining to this time but within the inception of this my father had played a large role along with others. And from then to know it's gone throught several changes within administration - my point here is that it could do so much better. It does not even touch the market of what it could be doing right now and that would be the downside. But this predominantly is not that much of a place where arecheology takes place Doug. It's more of a place that is with regards to illustrating and teaching people what we call up here as the First Nations or Aboriginals. But that said I do hope that next year within the four months of summer that they do have the right people in place. As there are grants and then there are continual grants. I have seen several places of the likes as this yet I am not for the hand outs that end up going astray. The Tyrell Museam was amazing. The reason I bring this up is that while I was there, I was amazed that the Alberta Tourism could market a different type of Museam - but it was in a town of a population of around 6,000 thousand people and during the summer they would render some 250,000 tourist and vistors. In Canada I have never seen the likes of the Tyrell Museam and here with a city of the size of 238,000 people they are lucky if they get 50,000 thousand vistors so there is a differentiation. As one does like to see something which does carry itself.

Ironically I had just changed to Multiply while I was staying in this town called Drumheller. And it was amazing to say the least. Coupled with the fact that they could market the place and it's very well known around the world - which amazed me. That's my two cents :)

This is the Royal Tyrell Museam:
