The Oscars

Last night I took in the Oscars, I have to admit there were a few actors that I really have been my own favorites one which is Sandra Bullock. She seems so natural, yet I have always seen her much like Julia Roberts. I literally didn’t know her back ground till I did some research on it but in a way she came onto the scene and with the first hit with that took here into to the places where she is now. I love here speech, she is rather a wholesome lady or one would tend to think so. Then there was Jeff Bridges. As well a new era of actors. What happened to Jack? Morgan Stanley awe there is a sensational actor if you as me in his own way. It was a great night of performers. It was something that I always have found most interesting. Clooney of course is just George they guy just has it seemingly in his own way. Mind you all the women fancy that as well. Possibly a modern day Carey Grant? Could he be replacing Jack Nicholson I kind of think not. What as well what I found most interesting was the array of new actors coupled with some of the old. But not some due to that they did not have a movie out within the time frame of the Oscars, maybe that was what was different. But all in all they were all great. I loved the dedications done and you know there are some of the actors that truly have started right from rock bottom and worked up. I find that even the Oscars are changing but that is probably within accordance with the new times. I know who my favorite actors are. And then you see something new and before you know it there is another. Yes it's all within entertainment. Yet there is something to be said with regards to some of these great actors and icons of entertainment. Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Nicholas if you as me are priceless as well with Denzel Washington. And then there is this older actor by the name of Christopher Plummer. Certainly we live in a time where things have change even within some of the great oldies. There was something missing within these Oscars I feel, but the actors themselves and what I found so fascinating was in how the short films act as a stepping stone or benchmark for many producers. The good old Oscars were without some, not all my favorites yet it all depends on what comes out in the movies within a given year. They say that movies have to improve with technology to keep up within Hollywood but there still is nothing like watching a great movie. As we have come back to an era where certainly there are some new people yet I still like seeing some of the older actors as well. Sandra was tremendous, I never knew she had the background to two prominent parents that were in the entertainment field. I recall here driving a bus, in a thriller that came to make create here career from that day on. Yet each one of these actors started somewhere. There have been so many great movies made and yet I still have ones that I recall from years back. Some movies and performances surpass the test of time.

  2. I was hoping Christopher Plummer would win---just because he has done so much good work in films. I think "The Last Station" is a very good film, too.

I like Sandra Bullock as well. I didn't think she was going to win but I'm glad she did.

  3. Plummer is well over 81 now, but I think that most of these actors are pleased with just being nominated as was Meryl.

  5. I have always loved everything Sandra Bullock has ever done, and she well-deserves to have won an Oscar, at long last! I, too, really enjoyed watching the Oscars (especially seeing all the couture gowns! lol!) My favorite gown was the one Jennifer Lopez wore, although Sandra Bullock's was lovely, too! Not to "name drop," but I have met George Clooney in person, and he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. No pretense, down-to-earth, and fun-loving! And, not to mentions handsome, too! lol! I have also always been a fan of Jeff Bridges, and was please to see he won an Oscar.

  6. i can see :) Guess my phone isn't all that, lol. It was very interesting to see the array of actors and actresses. I thought Demi to still be gorgeous and I've been a fan of Julia and Sandra. I just loved Robin as an actor and comedian. I thought he looked fabulous. It was interesting indeed and they did a wonderful job with an array of talent. :)

  8. Maryann, when I lived there in NY I met so many actors or saw them it was apart of the culture. Clooney I have never met however I do see him as a modern day Carrey Grant. If you think of it within these times he really is in so many ways. Sandra I was amazed to see her history as I thought she came from an ordinary family I think that all comes down with the way she is. If I had to choose one favorite actor of either gender it would be so hard to do. Julia Roberts really has made some great films. There as a time way back where she dissappeared from the scene. She was engaged to Kiefer (might have misspelled) Sutherland and during her time away which I will not go into, Julia took off. Go figure. Yet I would love to meet with Denzel. I think he is the modern day Sidney Portia if not more. Bridges for some reason I have never really taken to him as an actor. But there are so many....Pacino I met in person as he was directing a show there in NYC while I was living there. That is a story onto itself.
The good old Oscars. A great day to ya.

  12. She is well rounded in many ways Caroline. What I mean is that she seems to be very natural in here demeanour. Talent, I think she developed it since she was a child.
Thanks in more ways than one :)

  15. Well, I could not watch the Oscars this year, have only seen a few clips from it on the news. I am glad Jeff Bridges has won, I have appreciated him in his past roles such as in the Fisher King, Starman and others. Sandra Bullock is a good choice too, true she looks natural. I remember that movie of her with the bus, in French, the title is Clanche, what a run they had on that bus, pretty captivating oui. The ladies looked very elegant too. There is certainly a little something about George lol, and rather good as an actor (would lie to say the contrary) but there are other actors with maybe more depth, not sure how to describe it exactly. Anyways, we are spoiled as far as having good actors and a large array of movies to choose from.

  16. Yes the movie with the bus certainly Speed it was called en francaise I didnt know it was called this this was her turning point. Yes there is something for every women out there about George I don't know what turns women on, but he certainly does. I forgot to mention these short films as much as I wished to there are some tremendous short films that we really never get to see. But I do miss some of the older actors I must say Danielle.

  17. Oui, Morgan Freeman certainly one my ever favorites, never was disappointed by that famous actor, he is so convincing in Driving Miss Daisy, a simple movie with few actors but one I never miss to watch if I see it on tv guide. Also love Pacino, or Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams who has many major roles from the famous good morning Vietnam, Awakenings, dead poet society, Patch Adams and Fisher King as well with Bridges. Sean Penn is amazing, so is Denzel Washington, he was great in the pursuit fo happiness, he seems to be able of that depth that gives substance to a character. Love movies and looking forward to enjoying some good ones in the new living area. A good night to you Jack.

  18. A good night Danielle I was just reading your blog and it truly is a foundation of a great writer that writes from the soul. I wished to say this.....
I remember the times and as this is not apart of this blog but you have a depth that I recall but I have never taken the time to read them all. Maybe we all are not producers but we are ones that do write within our own essence. Pardon moi, as this is completely off the topic of the Oscars. Bonne nuit.
