I was at the start of what is to become the 75th Anniversary of the most historical hotel here within the city. It's a place where my father had his own office and I have wrote about it before for the next two weeks there shall be much that goes on with this building that was part of what is known as the original CN Railway's Hotels that they built from the east to the very west of Canada.
I will write more I know that as soon as I place them on there might be comments on this but on a warm but cloudy day it was something to make a visit back into this building.
It is interesting to see the building before and after. They are keeping it in good condition despite the time and they seem to have a friendly staff. You have been lucky to be accepted around the kitchen. What was cooking?

ReplyDeleteThey were making some salmon things, I really don't know what the chief was making, but he moved here from a very small town named Cornerbrook, Newfoundland.
ReplyDeleteWell this camera works and it was nice it's truly the most historical Hotel within the city.
ReplyDeleteMaryann, during the times after World War 2, in every major city these "castle hotels" where made right across all of Canada. It's not the Waldorf there in NY, I think all in all there are 10 that all were made while the Canadian Railway system built them as they built the railways across all of Canada. There is one other I have on here that is from Alberta but the nicest is within Quebec.
ReplyDeleteThis was Salmon and I am not sure what they were planning to go with it but I believe that it's a celebration that will go on for the next week or two or it may go right into the summertime. Now I can not cook like this but there is something said to those that do. It really is an art as well as a talent.
ReplyDeleteThere is a gym within this place and believe it or not there were people working out but when I went in and talked with the administrator that knows the family, I always promise not to take pictures of people and then I show them the pictures that I have taken. There are some seven highly regarded hotels here but this one is the most famous.

ReplyDeleteon the administration staff that remember him as well as myself as I used to drop in on him from my office that from time to time.
He loved the place as it had so many people coming from all corners of the world. And the one thing I have learned today is that this celebration of 75 years
will be taking place for 365 days not just two weeks.
The Sheraton is right across the street and still every celebrity, or person of some stature always stays at the "Bess". The food yeah but all the rooms now are renovated and are colonial. For the life of me I can't find the pictures that I did take of the rooms as they are in here somewhere, but it's truly a great place. Most of the hotels are now owned by major corporations, Delta is a Canadian company but some of the others have been taken over by the Fairmount Group of Companies. Which are based out of the US.

ReplyDeleteOh there are great hotels all over this world. I maintain that when I am 65, I literally wish to travel. I really do mean that. There is someone here on my blog that has been there she comes from Georgia. The Louvre would be amazing....truly.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Maryann you have a few others that I tried to find within here, but the Waldorf, Trump Towers, and there is one other that I was in there were something that was within a flavor of NY, yet it truly blew me away when I saw them. The Waldorf is all too cool as right around the corner is the greatest park that I have ever known. Central Park.
ReplyDeleteDoug I am not sure that one can build a modern day hotel that has the same characteristics of the past. I have never been to Europe but I am sure they exist in droves.

ReplyDeleteThe lemon, the red bell pepper and the cucumber are just one of the so many beautiful garnishings a chef could use to make the food look appealing and appetizing! Wonderful! :)
I see different kinds of herbs over there ... i could smell as far as where i am the scented pantry ... hmmm heaven. laughs*

ReplyDeleteThe swimming pool as viewed from up down, isn't it? This must be a well known hotel, the way things were arranged speaks for it. Love the yellow things, it brightens up the sorroundings :)
