Just Not Into It

I was out today regardless I was up early and you know taking a taxi or even if one took a bus it's not that freedom of driving in areas that one has the flexibility to take pictures. Unless one wants to spend a fortune. The tab ran up to fifty dollars by the time I had arrived home.

Mind you it's warmer now and the forecast indicates that it's going to be much warmer for the next few days - to the point where one can even just wear a jacket and no gloves. But today I was just getting in the groove of just taking pictures but as I was talking to the cab driver he too would carry a camera with him as he went all over the city. Yet he did it while he was on the job. I ended up at a restaurant called "Mr. Ribs" and I had a great time having lunch while talking with some of the people there. There is one old friend of mine that used to be in a band of mine but from what I heard he is in there all the time and drinking till the end of the night. Francaise kind of went the wrong direction. So often my brother has wanted me to get together with him and yet for nearly five years I have come to find that Francaise or "Frank" as they seem to know him in there has become a wall fixture.

I enjoyed the meal and I enjoyed the young lady that was serving as the only part of the restaurant that was open was the bar section. So I had myself a beer with my lunch and chummed with the guys. But it was obvious to me that these were ones that were wall fixtures too within a bar. I never ....................never want to end up this way nor will. As they could be doing so much more with life especially those that were married which were most of them. And for me it's never been my place to sit and drink and pour out all your thoughts. Then here was a girl that was leaving for a part of Latin America in August we talked and talked. She knew I was not a regular and after it all and some of the early morning shots well I had a good lunch as well as I had a good discussion but bars are not the place that I ever wish to dwell.

Seemingly they all were in good spirits only after they had loaded down a few pints. I would much rather be at the gym and doing the same thing with the guys and gals there as it's a great place and as soon as I get this car I so look forward to getting into the swing of things. My hopes are that this car will be ready on or before the end of the week. It's not a brand new car but it's good enough. Yet this morning while walking downtown I went into several places. I rise so early that I didn’t realize that by the time I was dropped off that nothing really was open yet so I just walked around and then after an hour and a half I headed back up to my region of the city.

The city seemed quiet but then again most were probably having their own breakfast at home. How we rely on our cars or vehicles - gosh I certainly have known. In the summer it's much different as you can walk and walk. In the winter it's kind of different.

  2. it would seem that you truly do miss your car.i dont drive now,but catches the rail train to wherever i need to be.walking is a good thing and i enjoy the walk because i find something different each time i go downtown and have met some interesting people.some people find comfort sitting at the bar, telling tall tales, problems that they are facing at home or at work.at least they know someone will listen even over a drink or two.
i hope you get your car ready this week cause 50 bucks will probably fill up the gas tank, lol.

  7. I never buy a brand new car any more, I think I would really feel ripped off if I did...I usually buy one or two years old under thirty thousand miles...I wanted to walk today but it was too cold, so I ended up at the gym...it's going down to 24 tonight, that is really cold for us!
    goodnight Jack

  12. The young lady was very intellegent more so than the drunks if I may say....who drinks every given day and needs too.
But I am sure she knew all to well the culture as the restaurant was closed but the bar side was the only place open for the day.

  13. I loved the subway but not much for the bus system here I have never taken it in my life. But there are better places during the day to hear all these tales.
Within the gym there is a group of us that have always had something to talk about after working out - much different thing.
All goes well this week I have the car and then it's grand Parrie.

  14. You know the types I mean they walk in and walk out and then go home and just sit and wait for things to happen for them and otherwise as well. Very counter productive GG.

  17. Hi, It's been a busy day ..went to the oldest sons for supper and all the kids and grand kids there. It has been really cold outside so everyone stayed in..It's about an hour and a half drive one way to their house so I'm back home now and tired..
I miss the warmer weather too for walking . I love the walks I take along the River Walk..I don't mind walking in the winter if it's not bitter cold like today. The day we had that nice snow fall..I walked and took pictures it was like a wonderland..I hope it snows again
    Have a good night

  19. Morning dear, up early here having my coffee, you are the type of person who can have a fun day anywhere, you love people and it shows ,, have a great sunday,,,

  20. Des piliers de bar, not a role model in my opinion. :-)

Something really funny (to me) happened once, a man asked me which café was my husband's, as if everyone has their regular hang-out and that is where you would go to maybe find them if you wanted to meet up informally, like a home away from home, I guess. The social aspect of making friends and exchanging surely has some good in it, but productivity and health?

  21. Within my 20's sure I loved them. There are a variety of different bars yet the exchange of friend I find are those that have the same mandates for example self improvement. Within what I have known by way of a gym. Certainly there is nothing wrong with a bar DJ....but do you live for 5 hours in the bar ? I think not.
