As the controversy continues over a great artist that unfortunately died due and untimely overdose – Wednesday is the opening of the King of Pop’s movie tribute. From what I read in the newspaper today all the scenes are of a performance that he was prepared to carry out.
I know many have moved away from this subject as I think in many ways we all grew up within him and we were the last to think that so much could happen and here there is a movie that is a one day only that shall probably gross as much money as if he was alive and doing the performance.
I am not sure how I feel about as I think it’s great but one has to question the family to some extent. But these are the times that we do live in.
Regardless of all of that I am sure that theatres will be sold out in every theatre. If one forgets for a moment that he has passed and the reason. There is no doubt he truly made a huge impact internationally...
I just wonder..when he still alive seems that he has been forgotten these years but when he passed away he more famous. I learn much from his history from he was child until he passed away and I got conclusion that famous and money is not everything..sometimes we need something simple than that such as love, friend (someone we believe and can share) and happy family. But I agree that he was a great singer ever after..I admire him.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I think about him, I feel a combination of sorrow and anger! He was only two months older than I am. He missed his 51st birthday by two months and a few days. His death was unnecessary. It was criminal. If I were his mama, I would sue that doctor, after they find him guilty of murder!
ReplyDeleteRequiescat in pace, Michael!
Same here just the other day I was with one good friend of mine and we were talking about this as he really did influence us and yet it's a loss that was not necessary and yet at the same time I ponder on the money made by it and whom is getting it all.
ReplyDeleteI think we will only know the real truth in time much like Elvis...Meanwhile, Janet is rehearsing for a new concert right now...
For millions I don't think he was but I think he was much like a Howard Hughes....I don't think we really know everything regarding him as like any entertainer but there is no question that he truly did influence the world...then and ironically of recent more so.
ReplyDeleteThe ticket sales for this movie release worldwide are phenomenal... it is being said that it will be the highest grossing 'concert movie' ever made and the sales of his albums and downloads of MJ's music have surged after his death. The reported earnings are well over a 100 million for his estate SONY with the rights to the movie is raking it in. All that is a tribute to his talent and influence as a musician.
ReplyDeleteBut, in the end, the nature of his death bears evidence to the sadder, darker side of his life's story. *sigh* We never like to see those who are so much larger than life leave us---naturally, easily, or in such a horrid way as he--Marilyn--Elvis--James Dean and a host of others.
Very much so Susan...it really summarizes it.
ReplyDeleteHe's a great singer, a musician ... I cried for him. Until now I listen to his music. He's just a few months older than my brother, and literally I grew up with his song. I like the beat, the way he carried it with his famous moonsteps. I didn't know he was a lonely man ... that was the saddest part of it. The darker side ... [?] I don't wanna' judge the person, as I don't wanna' be judged ... hugs. maritess* :)))
ReplyDeleteTess the way that Susan summarized it is really how I see it now. But maybe it has served some purpose in these times where there are so many that are not an entertainer but may very well have sent a large message especially to the younger generation...
ReplyDeleteThere was no one like him and so many were influenced by him...
You're right ... I agree with you, Jack :)))
ReplyDeleteI don't write for the sensationalism...there are areas that really do interest me during the day or with regards to what I read of others. I don't think I am right with all things I just enjoy writing on a variety of areas that are of interest to me. As well, I certainly enjoy the array of posts from others...truly that is what I do enjoy but this is just enjoyment yet of substance...
ReplyDeleteWhy not :)
yeah, why not. And I am following your writings ... [smiles] and your pic blogs ... thanks for allowing me :)))
ReplyDeleteI think Jackson's death and what happended to Hughes has a very errie duality to it, Jack. Good point.
ReplyDeleteBoth were famous and wealthy men, but untimately for all the mystery and success, did anyone really care about his person, or was his money and access to power the real reason so many who worked for him were so unaware of his pain.
There is a duality if you do a comparison with both of them you will find that although they were not of the same professions there are some commonalities despite the differences in time. No one cared a less about him and there could have been intervention yet he was within his own as he had the money to enable it...
ReplyDeleteI really miss Michael. His songs has become the spirit in my life...unfortunately he inspired the world....yet he is still alone and lonely.
ReplyDeletePoor Michael...May God bless him and make his eternal personal life happier.
He was a true artist, but like so many of his kind, things went very wrong in his life. I have heard that he was forced to make a comeback, by his creditors.
ReplyDeleteJust waking up here and listening to the video - some can and some can't yeah it's sad. Earlier I had wrote on him and how many within my generation and others were inspired from him.
ReplyDeleteHow many of us at the age of a mid teens would go into the basement and try to learn (without anyone else seeing) of how to dance LIKE HIM, Ben, Bad, and Don't stop till you get enough. I never forget the time when the family had retired and moved to a small town in western canada and we had a donut shop - kid you not.
I last night although I was overtired from only 4 hours of sleep - when I arrived home yesterday I wanted so to write on this - I will never forget these people that were from Montreal and were on there way to another part of the country. And how they talked and talked about a concerted they had just seen and this was during his time where I he had just peeked I think with Thriller. They went on and on and were older than me. I at that time was strongly involved in music and ok don't laugh I convinced my brother to incorporate a few songs from the Jackson five and how we really did mess it up but for me I thought Don't Stop, and She is Out of my Life where one of the favorites at that time.
I think we are the ones that have lost something precious and I don't think there will be another of his kind. I could be wrong but This Is It with MJ....and here it's sold out, yesterday I did take some of my own time with a camera and see if there was a poster on one of our mega theatres. But no. I do look forward to the CD.
I forget your name and for the life of me "life" I ponder whom you are :) A good one to you.
Not sure if you can see the video or here it Amalie but there are a few segments that show that he was much too young at 50 and in well enough shape. And his artistic flair well it seems that it still was all there...He really was a pure person in so many ways. Maybe too pure if there is such a thing.
ReplyDeletei can see the movie, and I don't question his artistic side at all.
